Chop can be frozen and thawed overnight to be ready to be fed in the morning. Some birds may prefer their chop to be warmed up in the microwave for a few seconds while others eat it cold.

How much of the rice and beans?
Dang, this is like... Good enough for people. I'd eat that 😂
Yeah totally 👌
Me too haha!
I have eaten chop so many time 😂. It’s just missing lemon juice and salt. Give a try.
Straight to the point right away! It's wonderful that we don't have to sit through 20-30 minutes before we learn what we came here for. I appreciate the content of this channel so much!
“The little handle thing” she is so precious 🥺🥺
I came to comment to see if anyone else caught on to that
So you caught that too?! I laughed out loud although I’m by myself and had to exclaim , “It’s a stem!!” I think Donna is a precious and genuine lady. Watching her videos is nearly like being invited into her home and getting personalized instructions on bird care.
That lovebird is probably the most gorgeous lovebird I've ever seen.
"Hi, my name is Donna and this is my lovebird Sprinkles"
Sprinkles looks at the camera and tilts his head like "Yeah, it's me!"
That was too perfect and adorable!
you always have great info and you are just such a sweet person i’m glad i found your channel
Same I LOVE THIS CHANNEL
I want to be your bird right now because u make delicious food
Everyday I must see your video because I cannot live without seeing and hearing your birds and ur voice
If I come back after death; I want to be one of her birds. Great food.
Omg thank you! My budgies are very picky eaters. From what I have observed the younger budgies only want to eat seeds and millet but the older ones love greens
Love your videos Donna

Excellent video. Thank you!!
Such a fantastic video! Thank you so much - looking forward to making this tonight
Thank you for showing me how to make xhop. I tried it once and it came out a liquidy mess. Now I know why. My birds eat fresh veggies every day. By the way, you are looking really great in this video!
Awesome recipe!! Thank you very much!
Great video! It looks so good!
Wow, I am really loving your videos!!! Thank you ! I’m learning so much !
Very interesting. Thank you.
I love my discovery of cutting down the veggies on a towel and pressing out all the extra liquid so it isn't goopy soup. No matter how much I do that I cannot get much liquid out of peppers so those I drain in a mesh strainer and press.
Thank you, this will really help me make food for my bird 😊
Thank you, I think my birds are going to love it. I hope to try it out!
I will surely prepare this for my Clair thank you so very much.
Very good video!

Thank you so much for the great info. A long time ago when I had parakeets I fed them chopped parsley, and I used to make a birdy cornbread w pumpkin for my breeding lovebirds. I had a nanday for 26 years and she would have loved your chop. I'm hoping to get a couple of linnies and I will definitely use your recipe. Thank you. 💙
Always love to watch your videos. All your beautiful birds😍
I have budgies and they LOOOVE their chops❤️❣️

I would like to say a huge thank you to you for sharing this recipe! My featherbaby conure has been mainly seed fed and she absolutely LOVES this chop! I cannot thank you enough for this easy to follow video tutorial! I see you love your feather babies as much as I love mine! Honestly this is the best video I’ve seen ❤️❤️❤️ thanks for sharing everything in details
It was so helpful ☺️
Thank you
Yes! Ty so much. I tried this today and it worked. My parakeet loves to eat some chop.... I didn’t do all of it yet - but I did mix Vegis with his seeds and he’s starting to eat it. B4 I never chopped and he would just throw them out of the dish.
Hi Donna! I just love watching your videos and seeing your lovely pet birds. I’m learning so much from your pet bird channel and also love your bird room set up. You have a lot of patience, wisdom, and creativity. I look forward to watching ALL your videos!
Hi. I am happy you enjoy my videos. Thanks for your support 😀
Hello how're you doing hope you're safe due to the covid 19 pandemic?
Thanks a lot👌
Hi. This is pure greatness. What a beautiful video trust me it makes me happy seeing how much love Donna has for her pets. This is amazing & I'm sure your birds enjoy their chop. I like seeing your budgies enjoying their chop dish!!! Standing ovation for you. Donna, you, Sprinkles & your birds all look beautiful. Much respect this video definitely got my like.
Thank you 😊
Thank you so much for this video ❤! I have been feeding my parrot seeds for years and some people food from time to time. Also did not know they could not have salt . This video is a great eye opener! I will be feeding the things you suggested in your chop recipe today! So grateful for this Information . 😊😊😊❤
It took some time but now my budgies love their chop! Making sure you pat everything as dry as possible is key to a nice crunchy chop that doesn't turn into mush. I also mix in a few spices and herbs from the spice cabinet as well as some rolled oats and seeds that helps soak up more moisture. I feed it to them frozen first thing in the morning after bringing them out of their cage and it thaws at room temperature. It doesn't seem to go sour as quickly when I feed it this way. They sure love their carrots and get carrot juice all over their faces lol.
Wish i would chop all that up by hand lol food processor is on the list getting two cockatiels soon and this was an eye opener
Hello Donna that is a meal fit for a king and Queen and making me hungry.I am going to try and do that for my bird.I never knew I could give my bird red bell pepper plus the seeds wow !!!!! I wish you were marketing your chop. Wonderful video as always , thanks!

Thank you for sharing this recipe! I just made my birds the same chop and they finally love chop! I also love the idea of them all eating from the same big tray!
Your welcome! Glad your birds loved it, makes me happy!
Gosh your birds eat better than i do!
Same 😂😂😂
I am ready to move in. LOl
Your chop looks awesome. My issue has been making chop for just 1 budgie. Even a small amount of veggies makes so much chop. More than 1 budgie needs lol I've been freezing it in ice cube trays to make a single little serving and then move those into a ziplock, which I learned from Sophie (Bird Nerd Sophie)
Watching video's about making chop makes me hungery. Thank you. I will be trying this out for our birb.
Hello how're you doing hope you're safe due to the covid 19 pandemic?
Thank you
You're welcome
Thank you so much ❤️
You’re welcome 😊
You my dear are amazing! Made this chop for my birds today (first time I ever heard of...or made it... and my birds loved it! Thank you, Thank you, thank you, xoxoxo
Your welcome. So happy you made the chop and your birds enjoyed it.
@@Loveofpets They Loved it! Thank you! (I've always gave them the veggies, fruits, etc. just not like this! This is soooo much better!!)
As I watched this video (I am a middle aged man BTW) I started to see the delicious almighty chop from the point of view of one of the pet birds, 🐦 (lol) , instead of a pet owner which I am (planning to add a parrot to my dog, cat and aquarium fish), and suddenly I felt a deep sense of gratitude on the behalf of all the birds to OP alias Parrot Mama 😘
Even as a non-parrot I think that chop is a more balanced diet than what I eat 😂😂
Very good information on making chop. Now I have to write it all down and start putting it together. I am feeling good that my budgies will finally start eating healthy food. In a prior video, you mentioned sprouting; would appreciate a video on sprouting. Your birds look so good; healthy and beautiful; they show a lot of energy also.
I may make a video on sprouting soon 😀
Very informative. I dont have any fether friends yet but will defantaly try and remember this for if I ever can. Never would had thought of useing rice or beens. Looks fun. I enjoyd making grain and seed mixes for my chinchilla and bunny when I had them. I didint need to chop up veggies too much as they were bigger animals. Just "give them to me!" XD *sigh* I miss thoes bunny grunts and chinchilla squeeks.
This video has really helped me a lot. I’ve always wondered how people made food like this for their birds, im going to buy a food processor now and start doing this too and use this recipe. Thank you so much
Glad it was helpful!
You had me at "little handle thing"
good ty
Another great video! I think half the fun of keeping birds is cooking for them!!! I add fresh herbs too, like basil, mint, coriander etc. Also smashed up hard boiled eggs with the shells.
Fresh Herbs are a wonderful addition to chop. My birds loves herbs especially Basil
Thx for the video. I have a picky cockatiel who is not crazy eating veggies or fruits. I mush all his veggies in the chopper so I can put about 1 teaspoon of his seed and pellets every morning (the veggies are separated in very small containers and in freezer). My Hahns, he eats everything but I notice he's not to crazy having the veggies mushed, actually he likes it in small pieces so I have to cut it by hand.
❤️
This is great information thank you!! I just wanted to point out though in case you didn’t already know, that some of your birds need a nail trim...they’re beautiful though☺️
Your flock is beautiful
Thank you 😊
Thanks for showing me the best way to cut up a bell pepper!
I love watching your videos! There always so fun and nice. I do have a question though. Can I feed the same chop everyday to my green cheeck or would it be best to switch it up every now and then?
I have two kakariki’s and I’m trying to explore there options for food because i bought them from Craigslist and the lady seemed to only feed them seeds, since I’ve had them they seemed to love the fruits and vegetables I give them so a chop would be great for me to try and make them
Great video and thank you. I am very much more educated on how to feed my bird and I am going to try the things you have described. I am very interested in discovering whether my parakeet will eat vegetables etc because he certainly is not fussed on fruit and I've been advised countless times that fruit is a big deal. I'll let you know 🙂
Mam, i have searched the menu for bird chop food, and how to do it, your video is the most clear explanation of any video i found. Thankyou so much ❤️❤️❤️
Your welcome 😀
I'm ready to eat, I will be right over! YUM
I will save you some 😄
Great video by the way my cockatiels and budgies love it
Hello"👋

Cheers FROM SOUTH
AUSTRALIA....🐤🐣🐥🐦🦆🦉💝
I just was given a green cheek - I wonder if he’s lonely. You have so many birds.
Love it. I only have 2 birds, an eclectus and a cockatiel. I only make a small batch so I don't even need to freeze it. I give my eclectus fresh chop twice daily, and my cockatiel (prefers his seeds) only gets it once a day. It usually doesn't last more than 4-5 days so it stays fresh in the fridge.
Thank you for this,i was wondering how long it stays fresh!
Hello, I have been looking for this information for so long in all videos but no one tells how many times to offer this chop to the birds. Just adopted a female cocateil and she does not like much of the vegetables. I am so confused on what to feed her as most of the videos tell that millets and seeds are to be given sparingly and we do not get pellets in my country. It will be very kind of you if you could share your birds diet with me. Thanks
So close to 100k
thank you, i will make some chop for my lone bird. hope he will eat.
Hello how're you doing hope you're safe due to the covid 19 pandemic?
This is amazing, I’ll definitely have to try it!
How long does this recipe last?
It lasts me about one week but I have 29 birds that eat it.
I just tried this recipe and my bird loved it thank you very much and can you please tell me if Is ok to feed a half a Millet a day to my bird?
Will try and make some of this in small amount , only two budgie , there only fav veg is carrot , spinach , and sweet corn, and a bit of apple , wish me luck
Good luck!
Hi what food processor do you use? I can't seem to find a good one. Thank you!
That handle thing. Would that be the Stem? ☺️ Thank you for the GREAT recipe. I’m definitely going to make this for my African Grey. Heck, I’d like to eat it myself.
Hello how're you doing hope you're safe due to the covid 19 pandemic?
Hi Donna, loved this video! Thank you so much for a great chop recipe. Could you share the quantities of cooked rice and lentils that you used for this recipe please?
PS: I’m also trying to covert my 2 budgies to pellets/crumble. I’ve been mixing a 50/50 seed to crumble mix and just covering the mix with water. After a week I tried offering just the crumble but they won’t touch it. Do you have any advice? Cheers
Hi, I generally use either 1/2 or 1 cup cup of rice or lentils.
Hi, I am not sure what crumble is however try using a different brand. Offer it first thing in Morning when they are hungry.
Is it necessary to mix with water?
I don't do chopped BUT they do get fresh greens and eggs daily . Plus pellets and bee pollen .
