The man is chilling. For ninety percent of the time, he was able to maintain a faćade of real uprightness, even memorable pleasantness.

My chickens were gathered in a circle the other day. When I approached they dispersed. I noticed they were sneaking peeks at me as I worked in the yard and thought it was strange. Later as I was walking up the porch steps one jumped on my back and another ran in front of my feet. I stumbled but did not fall.
