Is it weird that hearing this makes me extremely sad?
Age 14 is just a memory now. But I vividly remember staying up till 3 am listening to DF live and obsessing over the energy they had.
Now I'm 27 and I'm listening to this and remembering how I used to play CS, WoW, and all these games till 7 am. Ooof. I miss it
I'm 17, and I already learned and taught myself it's important to make the most out of life. 'Once In a Lifetime' is about shooting your shot or you won't have success. Love that one.
I'm 26 and I feel the same, it's a mix of awesome memories and a such of sadness because I can't have it again.
It's just nostalgia altering your perception. DragonForce are better than they've ever been live, compare the utter crap they play here for TTFAF to the flawless 2016 performance they have on their channel. Plus Herman Li has successfully transitioned from a 2000s metal musician whose band started pre-internet to doing streams and interacting with fans in a much more direct way 2010s-style, doing interviews with the current generation of metal (Misha Mansoor, Tosi Abasi etc.) where they discuss music and songwriting in detail, gear reviews, playing Among Us with Michael Angelo Batio (lol) etc. DragonForce have probably been in their prime since 2012. I think what you're really missing is rock and metal being culturally relevant, metal bands being big, new bands exploding after 1 album etc., as I do.

The thing i like about this performance, and the new york 2006 show on youtube is how clearly you can hear what Vadim is playing. It sounds really cool.
Yup and he does the same thing there :) Also the high quality Bordeoux 2009 show we have has the same thing but you can't hear it as well. Still not clear why he didn't do it when doing Twilight Dementia

While its probably the least accurate performance of TTFAF to date, it might be my personal favorite for the simple fact that Herman and Sam do the twin guitar solo part at 25:40
It's very weird, also to think that it was played nearly a month before the release of the album, and nearly 2 months before they'd start touring that album too.
I don't hear what's special about the solo though..?

@@tulrid7550 It's definitely keyboards. In fact they kept playing it on keyboards until end of 2007, it wasn't until 2008 they started using acoustic guitars when the Mayhem Festival started. Then they would use that until end of 2013. Then from 2014 onwards they just started using acoustic simulators, though there are a few shows since where only Sam would play an acoustic guitar for some reason, maybe venue had spares or something.

You wouldn't happen to know of any recordings of the Shibuya Duo Music Exchange shows in 2016, would you? It was a small 700 person venue so i doubt anyone recorded, but it has mark singing Black Fire, Reasons to Live, Heart of a Dragon, and one of the performances (they did two) has the last journey home. There are no vids on youtube of any of these songs being sang my mark as far as i know (except the last journey home)

Hey do you have the email for the rock collector guy, I'm probably gonna pick up the Reasons to Dragonforce CD pack (has 2004 performance in Osaka, which is the one that the VOTD overdubbed performance was from) and a 2009 show, along with the Sweden rock festival DVD from 2006, which also comes with a 2004 CD in Spain.
