As an individual from KZN, i went above and beyond the call to engage in "voter activism". It was very disheartening to see massive voter apathy within my own very large family and extended family. Very disappointing.
Inshallah lets we all endeavour to declare Jihad on voter apathy. The enemies of Islam were hard at work promoting voter registration, up to the extent of holding "workshops" in their businesses to promote voter registration. Jazakallah for all your time and efforts in presenting these stats. May Allah bless you all abundantly inshallah. But the only stat that needs to change, especially amongst the South African ummah, is the "Registered Voter" stat. We need to make our people understand that the vote is another way of "tying your camel".

Thanks for this. Perhaps as a follow up post you can discuss why WC, specifically CT, Muslims are so fixated on their religious identity above all else? And how this is reductive of who we are, and a highly problematic form of 'identity politics' which gets in the way of our community being taken seriously, including in the political sphere? Which is ironically how political parties like the ANC can use the Palestinian issue to garner votes in the WC. Challenging the DA and their propaganda machine requires a better and bolder strategy, instead of relying solely on elections, and then only to get scolded like children by certain moulanas for 'betrayal' when the election results don't go out way. This is the kind of political ignorance and immaturity we need to address, along with the fact of deep seated racism and anti-Africanism in the Muslim community. The DA's anti-poor and anti-black stance is what resonates with muslims who voted for them - let's face facts and unpack this as a start. Shukran.

It's very naive to think that the Pro Zionist club in the Western Cape did not take Israel into consideration when voting, while only harping on the pro Palestinian sentiment. The Western Cape is only "run well" in certain areas. Making the Western Cape a comfortable Jewish old age retirement village, does nothing for the majority of the people of the Western Cape, who live in a different retirement village.

Imagine how betrayed any voter would feel if their party makes a coalition with another party they would never have voted for.
Elections are for the benefit of politicians, its a money and power game at the citizen's expense. Its not just about the Muslim vote, its about the indian, black and coloured vote, people of those groups who comes from apartheid and oppression, for those very same people to vote for a party whose history is that of oppression, division, apartheid, colonialism, unequal rughts based on colour, this is the DA party's history in South Africa.
Those indian, coloured and black people voted for a party that did that to their parents and and ancestors. Do they seriously think the DA does not stand for those very same principles? Look at the Palestine issue, therein is the reveal. They bomblasted the ukrainian flag but wouldn't do the same for Palestine, in fact, they abused their authority of state resources and sent their police force out on people who painted palestinian flags on their own homes! On top of it, the DA would not even condemn the war crimes isreal is committing. Good luck to those who voted for them.

So you won't be visiting Saudi, and you will be protesting outside the Saudi embassy, like the pro-palestinian protests? If not you just displaying your hypocrisy and convenient love for Palestine just because it's Jews not Muslims. I'm wondering who put out the stats. Amazed that so many Muslims still voted DA. It would go against my grain and it's in support for Palestine and the ICJ case.
But the DA numbers overall to me seemed inflated.
Besides, they're so busy selling CT overseas on massive marketing and on dstv "Listing CT" property program, locals can neither afford the rentals, let alone buy in a middle income area. Foreigners with their euros buy Bokaap for a song and the elderly cant afford the rising rates. Homelessness are growing and one sees this leaving the city in any direction. Wealth starts with buying your first home and upgrading later as you wish, as you put down roots and have stability. Our educated youth runs overseas to the UAE, because there's nothing to keep them here.
We've got Durbanites moving to CT and neighboring foreigners, but we dont have enough water, schools, universities, hospitals to accommodate. Nobody speaks of these things.

Shukran for taking time to collate and present this data. It is reassuring that the muslim community stood firmly against zionist-backed parties.
It is alarming that there is an active team trying to sow discord in the Ummah. Thank you for making us aware of it.
When I first heard that the DA 'dominated' in the muslim community, the first thought I had was that the Muslims would rather vote for Pro- Israeli party than see black leadership in the Western Cape. This is obviously not completely true, but it links to the concern of embedded racism that many of our elderly have due to Apartheid conditioning.
It's great that the previously staunched DA voter has been swayed by the Palestinian cause, but we should also not forget to pay attention to why they voted DA to begin with. Racism/anti-blackness/enabling white supremacy remains a weight in the muslim community and hasn't suddenly disappeared. Freedom of Palestinians cannot be without the freedom of indigenous South Africans.

Imagine our ulamaa had discussions like this to discuss the issue of the 2 eids. An issue that affects the communities they serve. An issue which we have control over. Now wouldn't that be great. Maybe next time insha'Allah.

The DA supports Israel just like PA. Do you think if they have their way the Israeli embassy would be closed it there would be a case against Israel at the ICJ?. Do you think BRICS would survive?. They are worse than the fool Gayton who dies not even know that Zionist do not recognise Christianity as a religion and that they regard Jesus Christ as a fraud. The DA supports Israel as a state and their activities against Palestine. Clue Less Gayton thinks those European land invaders are biblical Jews.

@@sandradaniels3079 I wasn't talking about force. Also, restricting the expression of views is not undemocratic. There are literally "hate" speech laws, libel laws, etc. Expressing denial of certain in events can land you in jail in some democratic countries.

    • @JackFlashP
      @JackFlashP Před 3 dny

@@sandradaniels3079It should have political rather than religious. I mean, Israel is an two tier/apartheid regime according to Yesh Din, B'stelem (Israeli NGO), and Amnesty International. Given our history, we as South Africans should be nauseated by Israel's crimes. I'm not saying ignore what Hamas did but pretending Israel is a democracy is equally horrifying when the evidence is overwhelming. And the DA's defence of Israeli regime should have been enough to boot them. Defending apartheid is unforgivable.

Thank you, that was very informative. There are many lies, stories, and narratives being spread, but it is the facts and statistics that we, the people, need to hear. Unfortunately, public media is controlled by those who push their own agendas. I am not entirely sure how the panel distinguishes between "colored communities" and "Muslim communities." Many colored families have both Christian and Muslim members, and many Christian colored families have Malay ancestors. Trying to distinguish between a colored and a Muslim community disregards the unity of people with a shared heritage.
