    The most eerie part of the video were the photos. Some of them looked OLD. There's a story to that place and the pictures make it all the more mysterious. That wall of fame was kind of crazy to see as well. I hope Patti (the 51 year employee) and everyone else landed on their feet and are living their best lives right now.

    This was cool. Older stores were big when they had a furniture dept, possibly a sporting goods dept as well. It was like a one stop shop, even having their own jc penney insurance dept and automotive center

    a rare second of you! how do you manage to just get the right shot? your focus on things fromt he large to the small, just the random little things that we miss in life, the lights, the chairs. but you get the big things.
    these videos always make me feel sad as this time, this part of western culture is dying. it's not just in the US, but to a lesser extent the UK too. Shopping centers and high streets. And whenever i see a video like this, or a shop in my home town. I just think "someones mum worked there once, I hope she can still pay the bills" but then I find my self thinking about times where I was a kid and charging around these places in the early 90s. Just before they declined. I guess, all I really wanted to say is, you have perfected a rather unusal art. Of being able to tell an entire story, of an entire life, from many perspectives, without saying a word. That is talent I respect. If you ever read this Ace, if you think it far fetched or not, you are doing something very amazing here.

    In my honest opinion, the owners of the mall did JcPenny dirty in forcing this location to close, yet it was one of JcPennys' top stores. I dont know why they couldn't just develop around the Jcpenney location.

    This is my home town! I worked at the Macys and the Payless there back in high school and college. I used to go with my grandma to get her hair done at that JCPenney salon. Saturday is the official last day for the mall. There’s going to be a vendor event and food trucks and stuff. It’s wild that it’s going away.

    My parents are from the area and we visited this JCP last weekend. Here’s some weird lore: according to my dad, this JCP used to have a restaurant (?) inside that served pie. Probably would have been the 80s.

    • @ThksForTheVenom

    • @dawgwiddaglasses
      @dawgwiddaglasses Před měsícem +4

      There’s a lot of malls in good locations that’re still thriving. Like one I visited in the Valley recently, as well as my local mall (granted, it isn’t what it used to be, but it maintains a healthy amount of foot traffic).
      Physical storefronts & malls will make a comeback when the novelty of online shopping wears off. There’s so much junk flooding the marketplace that it’s becoming difficult to pick out the wheat from the chaff. Eventually, people will want to go back to buying products in-person again.

Not sure what is going on with my hometown 's mall but I think it has a thriving flea market still + the theater.
