How is the reel working after 5 months? Did you do another video that I missed?
I’ve had this reel since March. Your gonna be impressed with this reel I have 300$ reels and I wish I bought more of these. Absolute beast. Lightest lure I can throw is around 2grams. With a shallower spool 🧵 prolly go waaay lighter… super sick reel.
the star drag clicking sound is horrible and inconsistent.. lol
I just got a KASTKING brutus and I love it! It is so smooth! It casts a mile with no problems. Great reel!

I’ve owned two of their reels. Bought them about five years ago. I still have one serviceable reel. They each have caught over 300 fish. I only paid $49.00 for them at that time. Extremely functional, reliable, and easy to use. I have two lew’s speed spool reels and paid almost triple the cost of the Kastking reels. Great reels, hope they hold up as well as my Kastking reels did.

I actually took this reel on a halo rod offshore and it did a great job of handling smaller sharks in the 2 to 4 ft range. I take it on all my saltwater trips and it has held up very well. It may not be intended to use in saltwater but a quick spray down and it works perfect every time.

That was 20lbs braid.
That reel won’t last like a Shimano. I tried one of Kastking reels 6-7 years ago and it was trashed after one day on the water. Hopefully you have better luck. After almost after 35 years of bass fishing in Florida, I’ve come to the conclusion that Shimano Curados take the most abuse and are the best bang for the buck in the long run. Tight lines and God Bless. 👍🏻
Really appreciate the input. I and Dave as well use Shimano reels. I thought i would give another brand a shot that I am not overly familiar with. I am going to punish it to see if it holds up. Will keep you posted with a follow up video.

Haven't got to fish headwaters yet but a lot of Kenansville, Garcia, Blue cypress and some other local spots we can drag the yaks through the woods to get into. For an old-school guy that uses right hand reels, casting with my right hand and laying the reel in the palm of my left hand, I find the flipping switch pretty useless. It's absolutely useless for True flipping. It also creates a problem when pitching, because if you let your thumb off the freespool bar it will Clash the gears together prematurely. Additionally I found when I keep the real in my right hand as I do have a couple left-handed reels, I find that once in a while I will accidentally hit the free spool on Hooksett. This is not desirable. Additionally if i try pitching with a left-handed real with my right hand, I find that the line will sometimes get caught on the crank since it's pointed down. I also find a lot more Hooksett power when I palm a reel versus holding it in the casting rod trigger position. IMO having MY finger anywhere near that free spool is bad. There was fishing reels made by Abu Garcia in the early 80s and Shimano that had the free spool up on the side of the reel body. This was better to avoid accidentally hitting the free spool when you had the flipping switch on. But it was awkward to find the free spool and then thumb the line. Thuming the line when pitching is Paramount to stopping that bait at the right location around cover . I couldn't really do that with the flipping setting. I really hope it works out for you I'll be looking to see how you like it. Thanks for the content

I just reviewed it and fixed a couple mistakes .When I lived in Florida I never got a chance to fish Kenansville or headwaters. If I ever get back there I'll look you up to hook me up with a guide trip. I don't plan to ever tow my boat that far, health issues. But I still get out fishing once in awhile and and enjoy it.
