I feel like when people throw a perspective out it gets reduced to a single note when it's different things that lead to the same outcome.
When it comes to ick...it's a more pride thing. Humans don't like something that sounds, appears, or feels lower than. A weird competitive pride. With a humble spirit it's a self assessment and with a prideful spirit it's an attack. A man will submit his control to what performs better than him in something and vice versa for women. We just want to be perfect and not feel lacking or lower in anything.
