    I am from Alabama in the USA. Typically the lower the denomination, the less valuable a confederate note will be. The $5 bill is no exception to this rule. Each $5 note from 1864 will have a vertical “FIVE” printed to the left and a number “5” at the top right corner. At the center is a picture of the Virginia State Capitol which was the capital of the Confederacy during the American Civil War (Wiki). Value: The value of these confederate $5 bills ranges depending on the serial number and overall condition. High condition bills will be worth sometimes over $45, while poor condition bills are worth around $15.

I got a very warm vibe from it👍 I imagine the people & their lifestyles, upon touring a place with you & Dale, Adam❤️ Here is my story, of the family! A wealthy, educated American couple, traveling the world with his job! They lived in several countries before settling in the UK & falling in love with this gorgeous property! Along the way, they collected many beautiful antiques & collectibles! They were a childless couple, who enjoyed a very affluent lifestyle! Quite sad that these beautiful old things, collections, antique wooden furniture & cherished items can’t be saved & enjoyed by new owners, to be loved once again! Whether they had servants or the system had been built into the home, it gives a hint of class & wealth! I loved that no vandals had destroyed anything, as almost everything was as the day she left it👍❤️ Thank you Adam & Dale, for sharing this gorgeous, epic find with us! I truly loved it ❤️❤️❤️

    I loved it as it brought back many memories of my childhood growing up in London, seeing that furniture and knick knacks. The small flat square silver box you couldn't open was a cigarette case. I still have one £1 note that I have kept all these years. Those camera's were a great find too, in years gone by Kodak and Ilford were rival companies that made camera's and film's. I could spend hours explaining what things were used for in this video. Lisa would have loved this one. The bath was a 'Roll top' bath, if you remove the front panel it would have beautiful claw feet. The beautifully designed cabinet that had a handle missing on the left hand door, was a ''Cocktail Cabinet' designed to open the front then slide out it's own table top tray to stand glasses on. All the things you would use in a bar would be kept inside this cabinet. Thank you I did enjoy this. 💕🇦🇺

    I must be ancient. I gasped when you said you'd never seen a pound note. I remember using the rotary phone as if it was yesterday. Although it wasn't on this explore I remember using a manual carpet sweeper. We had a large collection of glass bottles found in the ground. There used to be a glass works which closed down years before. Some had a marble in the neck of the bottle. Sometimes we seniors forget how old we are until certain objects turn up on explores and are pointed out as antique or no longer in use. Thank you!

    With many of the houses you go to, I'm itching to grab the Pledge and Formby's and Windex and a bunch of shammy cloths...catch a flight there, and go to work. This is one of them! And I also feel happy to see a home not trashed. Good job you guys. The small black mask is, I think,a gas mask. The large black metal object you guessed is a camera, I believe is actually a very old projector.

      Sadly you'd be wasting your time. This house very sadly had terminal condition complete through and through cracks in walls and arches.
      If it had been cared for earlier it would no doubt would have been ok. But those cracks probably started when the owners were still alive.
      Such a pity. It's such a gorgeous Art Deco not Victorian house. The Art Deco fireplaces are a bit of a give away.

I see in previous comments a lot of details have been added and I have a tiny tidbit I can add for you. At 14:41 you can see bowls on the kitchen counter. Those are vintage Pyrex Cinderella bowls. The outer turquoise one is definitely from the 1950s but I can't see the color of the inner one. Collector's of vintage Pyrex are all around the globe and turquoise is one of the favorite colors to collect.

    How do you guys just have abandoned homes in the UK like this? In America the home probably would have been taken from not paying the taxes after the home was payed off or it would have been fixed up and put up for sale by some contractor or something. I know you guys obviously don't have the same laws as us but this is very interesting. Maybe someone from the UK can explain why this happens?

    • @redkate01
      @redkate01 Před 2 lety +2

      It generally happens if there are no next of kin and as these people were from either the USA or Canada distant relatives probably don't even know of their existence.
      If they had funds in the bank paying local taxes directly then it will fly under the radar although it does look as though someone is looking after the property as there's not very much post behind the door,
