- Waking up at 11 000 feet to ride the Grand Capucin South East couloir (and some very delightful powder skiing).

Wow, the footage is incredible in such low light, really good exposure.
Joonas killing it as always.
These films take a whole year from multimillion dollar companies. Amazing stuff, so epic to watch.
You’re living every ski bums dream. Living vicariously thru you! Keep living it up
Love that you showed a failed mission. So hard to turn around when you worked hard for something and glad you managed to turn it into a n awesome day
This channel should have at least a million subscribers, the quality of this content is some of the best on CZcams.
Joonas is a machine! Not many people realise how nuts it is to film is those sorts of conditions. Wow wow wow.
These night shots are unreal. The exposure is perfect. To be honest the whole production is just beautiful!
Best ski content out there. Your vids just keep getting better and better over the years!
Thanks!
This is amazing. Awesome storytelling! I’m amazed at the sound quality especially when you guys are being hit with gusts of wind! How do you guys manage to capture such a clean track?
Thanks! We use the tentacle sync system🐙
Guys, the production quality of this is insane. I can‘t grasp the fact that it is available for free on CZcams. Insane, I would always be willing to pay for it.
Incredible work my friend, a real inspiration! I'm interested to know how you shot so well in the low light of the morning. Keep it up.
That's all Joonas. A7s iii with a sigma 35mm 1.4 I'm fairly sure
@@Nikolai_Schirmer I was wondering the same! Cool to know
You can see the moon was out, so that helps a lot, especially in the open snow fields that reflect a lot of light.
I can NOT click faster on a video man... Congratz on the 100K and honestly hope you can keep it up. Amazing content, beyond belief.
Hey, can't help but notice how good the image looks with (I'm assuming) a pretty high ISO (or maybe a full moon). What camera is Jonas using?
Came here to ask the same thing
My best guess is Sony A7SIII or FX3. No other camera comes close to that good in low light.
@@tavakessler +1 on the a7s, though whatever they're using, looks awesome

I watched all the videos. Definetely my favourite freeride channel. Keep them coming. Hope there will be more powder in the coming weeks for us mortals to enjoy.
How do these keep getting better!? Loved the change up to classical for the intro and had me on the edge of my seat through the crevasses! Unbelievable editing Niko and hats off to Joonas too, that scene with the sun and wind heading up the slope was unreal 🙌🏼
your consolation run was cooler than anything I’ve skied this season
So amazingly great of you to show that it is not always time to go for your plan A. Or B, for that matter. Sometimes you have to just go for plan C. And still have an amazing time. Keep up the good work!
Nothing better than having two new videos from you to watch. Damn i love it and i can't wait to go skiing
This was just so wholesome in every way - and the music, oh la la.
Thanks buddy!
this one spoke to me more the most of your posts, something about it really just captures
the nice
Real epic to watch and the awareness not to ski a slope and to avoid the risk is a real nice take away
It’s great to see videos of just being real and the struggles that can present themselves in the backcountry.
This channel just keeps getting better year-after-year.
Never fails to bring excitement to the screen!
Hilarious how your "bonus" home run is the stuff of the average skier's dreams.
holy shit those filming skills, the beginning looks like straight out of a horror movie
Started watching these last night w the vid about your little bro, haven’t stopped watching because of Joonas’ filming. Absolutely top notch - I don’t even ski or board lmfao
the editing in these vlogs feels so good!!! awesome
This is insanely well made. Not sure if we deserve this.
Thats me, sitting in my office, watching you ski and listening to "The Temper Trap"... awesome day so far!! :D
this episode was soooo Good as start of the season!!😊 please do another skyway montebianco Nikolai! PLEAASE
Great call up top, great skiing, great content - this channel spoils us every time
the sweet disposition edit was one of the best pieces of film I have ever seen.
that windy crevasse nighttime session was beautiful thank you for sharing. bummer about the objectives being unsafe
Jacob Wester is the man!
Beautiful! Conditions dropping from top station look incredible, it was getting a bit sketchy a couple weeks later.
As someone who has only really seen PNW snow pack.. Its crazy to see that much snow and it all be so dry that it doesnt stick to everything.
in my opinion the best episode so far. Keep going Nikolai!!!
Slow start to winter in upstate ny but you keep the stoke alive. Good stuff.
This footage is so insane
What a voyage!🎉
a proof that usually the best line for the day is not the one that you went for in morning ;) well done stepping back
Incredibile video as always!
Are you talking in your respective languages at the end? Great video btw- great to show that sometimes at ski touring you have to turn around, dont get "summit fever" !
Amazing, thank you Nikolai!
content is captivating, cant get enough of it
Great team...now I can preach to you both at once!!
That Capuchin is a pretty looking line. Great vid, as usual lol
Crevasses are hella scary!
Yet again, awesome production!
The low light shots are absolutely incredible. Idk anything about cameras but I still want to know what camera and lens you're using lol
Like always, a great video. Keep it up!
Two legends, give me more! 🙌
If you dont start drinking coffee, your body's own natural "caffein" will be just fine ;)
A well earned coffee!
Nikolai you have changed. Two ice axes.
Getting old
@@Nikolai_Schirmer Maybe older and wiser.
Sometimes you got to walk away and shred another day, I've been there before!
The dynamic duo
I love it #maketurningaroundcoolagain
You win some you lose some. It's always better to turn around if you're not feeling it. Sometimes it's just not worth it :)
I got black-crow duos freebird for Christmas but one got wedged in a rock and the carbon fibre snapped 😢
Very nice 🎉🎉. Thanks.
beautifully shot
Love it!
You could rope up going through such a crevasse terrain.
How many years can one tip-toe around crevasses before falling in one? I'm genuinely asking, I'm a hiker now I hung up my skis after almost becoming paralyzed.
I ask myself the same thing. Still haven't seen anyone fall in or broken through a bridge myself
@@Nikolai_Schirmer That's good to hear, doing that in the dark is my literal nightmare, the idea of those pits dropping into the abyss... I head over there in summer :)
@@IdRatherBeHiking After a previous winter with not much snow in Italy (especially in the Dolomites) and the warmest summer since recording, these Pros decided to tip-toe around crevasses after the first (big) snowfall? Maybe I'm too old, but that doesn't sound too good.
How my grandparents got to school:
I just can say wow🤘🏻👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
Nice journey brother
WOW så vackert!!
They should call it the Grand Cappuccino :)
Amazing video! What video gear/ techniques are you using? It looks stunning!
Awesome 🙂
Sickk vid!!
Which weather forecast app do you use?
Amazing footage!
the 🐐
I want to know everithing about the uber-dope night shots in shitty weather. Speak, Jonaas, SPEAK! PLEASE!
They were really good shots!
How do these night shots look so good!!!
11:41 Yes.
How'd ya forget coffee boys? Good turn though.
Quality
hahaha. One might be wondering wtf you were doing that morning when you have that kind of skiing right from the lift.
I mean... 10:43 ? AAARGH I want it now.
The crevasse part sounds a bit the blair's witchish...
What hedlamps do you use?
For approaches I use bright as day 800: moonlightmountaingear.com/collections/lighting/products/bright-as-day-800-headlamp
Watching this makes me feel like a kid again. And I'm only 20

What are the gopro settings on pov? Looks good!
Full frame, and then reframed with andy’s elastic aspect in premiere :)
When is the next video coming out?
Caffeine addiction is still a legit addiction
And so is skiing
Anyone know what facemask/balaclave is being used at the very beginning of the video with the big mouth/nose hole?
Yes, it’s built into the hood of the mid layer: www.norrona.com/en-GB/products/lofoten/lofoten-hiloflex200-hood-men/?=&color=5646
Aiii that’s smart
What size of rope are you using here? Thanks!
30m rad line
