Guitars are getting way too expensive in general, so custom guitars are even more outrageously priced these days. A standard Mayones Duvell Elite used to be like $2500, now it's $3500+ without any custom options.
I follow a lad on Instagram who makes custom guitars. They are so beautiful I actually considered looking up the prices... Well, his cheapest guitar is around 25k USD and they go up from there.
Dentists and lawyers need guitars, too.

Sugi customs are not cheap, not really surprised about the prices since this has been pretty inline with Sugi Ibanezes. Personally I probably rather buy one of those over an expensive PRS but also I don't know if I would ever buy either, haha.
You're God damn right, I want it pointy. I really wanted one of those headless Quest guitars, but I couldn't justify it. Know why? Not pointy.
Locking tuners are for quick string changes. It should be a modern standard.
Agreed. I just picked up a Prestige and I'm going to replace the regular gotoh tuners with their locking ones.

I remember when I was hunting down Ibanez Prestige models in the mid 2010's and you could find a solid Prestige for like 500$-600$, and you could get a 5150 or 6505+ for the same price, today....its like triple the price.
Your roasting Ibanez is the best guitar show on the internet! I wish there will be more episodes of roasting Ibanez.
That said, I wish they can have an improved version of the S series (e.g. the 5 way switch blend into the wood instead of extra plastic) and also more j custom version for that series. Can't imagine myself play RG for too long.

We obviously buy guitars that we love to play. Now if a loved one would buy one that is not only wonderful to play but is an incredible piece of art, (as most guitars are) why not?. A Van Gogh for the common musician. And if one of my loved ones are watching, the only question is . . . how much do you love me? 💕 💰 ❤ 💲

I mean, if you want exotic woods, just order a semi-custom Kiesel or something for half those prices.
I dunno, I'm thinking that budget guitars have become so good now, that brands feel they can charge ridiculous prices for the really fancy shit, and everyone who can't or won't pay for the premium can just get a solid instrument for well under a thousand bucks.
And, of course, inflation. Although that's definitely a very convenient excuse for adding some price gouging on top. Even Ibanez's mid-range has become seriously over-priced in the last couple years.

1. Not for my pocket. Never tried a suji, but I guess the sound is pretty similar with the others. Maybe the feeling could be awesome? I don't know... 2. The aesthetic doesn't hit me. I agree with you I also found some models ridiculous. To me fiuji are ok, and unfortunately lastly their prices are scary... 3. In the end it doesn't actually even exist an Ibanez factory. In Japan only suji e fuji, outside cort (each one products also other models of its own brand). So (in my opinion) bye bye j custom!

anybody can put locking tuners on a guitar with a trem, but there is no reason ever to do so......... it makes no sence at all, other than to jack up the price even higher.
There IS a reason (for some). Easier/faster restringing.
I have locking tuners on my Floyd equipped guitar just for that reason.

but Music Man switched to Mono and those bags are safer than ANY case… we tested it… watch the video on Colin Scotts‘s channel.

Mono are VERY expensive and protect your instrument better than any case! We‘ve proven it.

When it comes to traveling with your guitar and protecting it, a Mono Vertigo Ultra will keep it safer than ANY case. That is a fact.
No case would survive three drops from a balcony and being dragged up and down the street 30 times… the Mono will.

Yes they are beautiful but shit, they are way too much money! Certainly for us mere mortals. If I had the money would I buy one, no way! I would get myself a bespoke piece by Seth Baccus or PJD or PJE even. I wish!

j.custom is great ... but from a person that uses them as a tool... they should be better adjusted from the factory... I had to do it my self , because it came in a ridiculous setup with string much to high from the frets.... actually the guitars beside the sound and finish, its impossible to get the string close to the frets...as 12 fret 2 mm , I have en ESP mirage deluxe that is much lower than that .... and it could be adjusted to that low.... and yes the prices are ridiculous... there are better guitars producers out there

Please explain how a 1 off custom bespoke guitar made by one of the most exclusive, in demand and respected custom shops in the world is "over priced" here? Would love to hear your explanation on that. They arent "over priced" because they all sold the moment they got offered. You are welcome to not be able to afford them, or more importantly not find value in them. I mean thats a very fair and valid perspective. I certainly dont. ... and please before you start saying some dumb shit; you should probably know these guitars are NOT made by ibanez nor their j custom shop. They are simply branded that way for ease of marketing, sales and licensing/contracting.
