Six days of ownership. That means you are 1/10 into you average length of ownership.
Yea, but with the return of depreciating value in the car market and softening sales of EV's, Dave might have to keep it an extra month or two.
The joys of being a rich CZcamsr
🤣
@@joemartino6976 yeah the days of CZcamsrs being able to buy a new expensive EV then flip them for a profit a few months later are over.
Bahahaha clown 🤡
Kyle had the Lucid longer than Dave did. I can’t believe Dave’s gonna let him take it to Colorado, hook up that big trailer and haul a bunch of cars to it, beat it up, you know he’ll be taking it to CA a few times putting a bunch of miles on it, before Dave gets to really enjoy it. Dumb move with this beauty.
Yeah no way in heck id let that happen. Unless Kyle chipped in to this purchase which Dave said he did with the Lucid
Its probably a "company" car. Maybe for tax reasons or something. Who knows. Bjorn Nyland use to haul stuff all the time with his old Model x.
He should be honest about that then, instead of looking the fool.
Your Plaidington story is very touching, especially for anyone who have been taking care of their older parents.
Also the location, with this historical red lighthouse in the background is perfect as continuity symbol between past and new technologies.
Congrats Dave the Plaid X looks great in that color. I like the name you choose and your backstory for choosing it!
it looks great when you trade it in for a rav4/crv hybrid
Completely agree!
Enjoy your new ride, and we’ll be watching to see what car you trade it in for in 3 months 😂
only 3?
this is an awesome config actually, happy for you Dave
We named our Red Demon
Hearing your voice quiver as you told the Paddington story was very touching - this is close to your heart.
Dave. You’re going to fall in love with the Red. I can’t stop looking at mine !
Beautiful car looking forward to future videos.
Good luck with the car
Thanks for sharing
Congrats Dave I recently pick up my Model S in Ultra Red with Red Interior sadly I did not get the Model S Plaid I needed the more range but Plaidington is such a great Tesla Model X.
Dave Dave Dave Dave Dave Dave Dave….. Yellow calipers to match Paddingtons boots
Can't resist this tongue-in-cheek reaction: shall we place bets on how long you will have Plaidington before playing musical cars yet again? Not gonna hold my breath, Dave.
wishing you many many safe miles - good info. we are looking at the Y , your exam was a good process ~ JDS/CT
cant wait for a 7day ownership update
This one takes the cake Dave, Congrats on a beautiful ride.
Plaidington - brilliant ... perhaps, you can have the brake calipers painted yellow ;)
Nice story on the name!!!!! Thanks for sharing!
I LOVE the name and the story that’s really beautiful
Looks beautiful..have the exact car coming in about a week. I was real questionable of the red till I saw it in person.
Congrats 🎉
6:50 I can't believe your Dad had an Audi 100 LS! I had a '72 from '81-'84, and I think I put 200 miles on it total (not running the rest of the time) 😅
It's hard to beat the joy and fun you get from owning a Tesla.
Love the name and the story behind it!
Congratulations!!!
Thanks!!
Dave - Congrats! Its a nice looking vehicle. How confirmed are the rumors about a front camera and side ambient lights in the 24? Thanks
Dave, Reseat that visor a couple of times. We have a slight rattle from the passenger side when it isn't "snapped" back in correctly. It will look secure, but a quick unsnap and snap clears up the noise - Good luck!
Not something that should happen at $80k range.
That is the perfect name ❤ loved the story
Thanks Dave for your Model X journey and Plaidington. So special. Question for you… just reserved my 23 ultra red x plaid and I see there are no park assist. That’s a big deal when parking in a garage space. Do you see it as a limiting factor? Thanks
The name is so cool! Great! :)
My grandma had a 1985 chevy impala 4 door that all the grandkids called the red sled. Rear wheel drive, small block v8, crappy tires..great for Wisconsin winters. I will say i miss bench seats.
Oh man !!! Dave I wish I could buy cars like you
My next Tesla must have this color combination. It looks great.
Have Fun !
Nice X and video. Thank you! Sorry if I missed your comment, but thought on round vs yoke steering wheel??
For me? Round. Yoke is a no go
The Sentry mode footage should be hilarious as people who look at your car will see the bear in the back seat!! And should you ever be caught speeding, you realize that the cops will think you are nuts right? haha. Just teasing because I can. The car is stunning!
Excellent name!
Dave, you've got some great adventures under your belt! Do you think you'll go back to Lucid or another EV brand after they make the switch to NACS?
Love the name!
Great Name for the car Dave!
I wish i could afford this car. Looks beautiful!
that bear and the story behind it ❤❤
Love the name
Dave, Kyle, and me, "alright guys quick video" ~20-30 min long 😉
Glad to see this, we were looking at getting one of these with Supercharging transfer but some things fell through and it would be swapping to a Plaid X from the P100DL X or keeping the Cybertruck reservation, had things not gone sideways we'd have done both.
A perfect name guys!!!
Dave, congrats- I’m up in Fairfield and just ordered a Red X, 5 Seater w/ Cream interior. BUT… there is no way Dave still owns this car after Memorial Day. He’s going to be heart broken by the MX mini problems and annoyances that are coming both our ways. Dave’s wife is an absolute saint. He will be in a slightly used Taycan 4S sometime next year and then back to a MY with the front camera and Matrix headlights. These are predictions and not criticisms.
What type of problems? I’m thinking of getting one.
The Tesla configurator has a 2024 Model X Ultra Red, 20” wheels, White interior, dual motor, round steering wheel for $81,990. Delivery between January 2024 and February 2024. This config may have some upgrades like the front camera that Dave was talking about. I see no reason to get a “Plaid” as the range of 348 miles with 0-60 mph of 3.8 seconds is plenty and you do not need the 6 seater. The 5 seater is large enough. I realize Dave wanted this ASAP.
@@ArnoldWinters6 seats is the best MX configuration and the difference in price between MX and MXP is minimal if you want the 6 seat configuration anyway. Makes sense to get the MXP
@@jaychu3850 I’m thinking about problems as a combo of potential know issues and annoyances. On the known issue side: The Shutter/Drive Shaft issue is my biggest worry and I hope Tesla has fixed it or reduced the occurrence. Quicker tire wear is probably more self inflicted. Falcon Doors mechanism (improving problem), Squeaks and rattles (general wild card). On the annoyance side: no regular horn button, no blind side detection light, no 360 Birds Eye camera. A fiend of mine’s 2022 MXP had to have components of his steering column replaced as well as a 3 weeks job to replace some sort of inverter/motor related to regen… he did not have a good technical description for me (these do not appear to be major recurring known problems?). I’m still getting the car but from my research, the X has more issues the other models.
@@leanderzulu3494The difference between what Dave bought for $91K and what I configured for $81,990 is $9,000.
I do not think much of Plaid, and 6 seater vs 5 seater. I did figure the 20” rims, and white interior. Plus by ordering off the configurator, you get a 2024 model which may have some new hardware like the front camera which Dave wanted as well as other refinements. Delivery is January 2024, to February 2024. Also, I believe this may be eligible for the $7,500 tax credit, which may be immediate. That means the retail price is reduced at the dealer level. Not sure if the tax credit will be there or off the dealer sticker.
Dave - After driving your X around for a while, do you prefer it more than your previous S ownerships? I know the X is definitely easier to get in to. 😂 I have a 2018 S and am considering an X in my near future. Thanks for the informative videos! 👍
I like Sammy. The little red rocket 🤠
If the Paddington bear holds sentimental value to you, you may reconsider keeping it in car as I imagine it may get sun-faded overtime. Or maybe that's not a concern up there, but it would be here in sunny Texas.
We got model x plaid same config with yoke ane there is some creaking when turning into interior and a big gap between the falcon wing door and the small window in the trunk area
MXP is what I want next...for now, my red M3P will suffice....I'm terrible at naming things, so went with "Kook-Aid Man" b/c I'm not creative
@Dave can you tell me your experience opening the windows in your falcon wing doors. My experience is that they open really slow..
Dave, you pointed out so many defects hiw can you say it's good, Tesla still has issue's.
That’s a great and meaningful name. Bailey did not like losing the seat though.
Bailey?
What a nice memory.
Nice! Congrats Dave, what a beautiful car
Dave, that’s a gorgeous car. Happy motoring with your new ride.
sweet rig Dave
Thanks for sharing that personal story Dave. What a great name. Your Ultra Red MXP looks amazing. I'm over here trying not to trade my 23 MYLR for an MXP lol. I'm just going to keep MYLR until I get my CyberTruck
Perfect name!
I see they have finally updated the headlights. I don't follow the Model X pages, so I'm not sure when that occurred.
Congrats, Dave. Are you going to ppf the front hood, bumper, and side view mirrors before you send it out west to Kyle? Enjoy it. I love my brand new Model S long range in the ultra red color as well. Did you know that these come with rear fog lights?
What's the point? He's gonna sell it soon anyways

Day 7: Dave sells car.
Named mine Christine.
We look for misalignment on other cars. Some of them are pretty bad.
One car reviewer found misaligned panels on a BMW.
Loved the naming story. A week of ownership and you haven't launched it yet?! Looks like you found a car that's perfect for you Dave, I predict you own it for more than 6 months!
With 348 mile range and 3.8 seconds 0-60 mph, what extra resale value do you get by owning a 2023 Plaid? Also the 5 seater is just as good as the 6 seater. Finally, you can get a 2024 MX for $81990 which has better resale value, and perhaps some new hardware like a front camera and other upgrades. Check the configurator, which gives you 20” wheels, ultra red paint and white interior. This may be eligible for a 2024 $7,500 tax credit straight off the retail price from the dealer.
6 months?? No way.
Ty Dave, your excitement is contagious.
do you have a link to that dog carrier? great car name, i enjoyed your story
Please, please keep this car for a long time !
Beautiful car. Kyle would have to get another x to play with 😂😂😂.
7:11 looks like the roof glass is sort of bulging out as well as the rubber seal.
Maybe it’s the camera or my take on the body review ( gaps) is too critical. As owner of 1 Model 3 & two Y’s, think yours could use some attention, Just purchased a CPO Mercedes EQS 580. Quite a contrast across so many areas.
Found out I really missed the luxury & quality of a Mercedes.
Enjoy your Model X mister serial car owner… LOL, but I get it. So many cars & so little time!
How to say your household income is more than the qualifying EV tax break without saying your household income is over the threshold of the EV tax break! 🙂
Congratulations on the model x. The name is awesome and original. I wish you and your family (including Paddington) many safe miles. 👍🏻
If you're going to swap cars with Kyle it's his turn to shuttle cars either that or you guys meet half way for the hand off.
When you are driving an X in sloppy weather do the bottom of the falcan wings drip sludge on you while getting in and out?
Beautiful land rocket 🎉
Plaidington 🤙🏽
I’ve said all along the X looks best in red. The Ultra Red really drives that home!
Awesome car name thanks 4 sharing the back story. Just picked up my Model y 7 seater got the 7500 tax credit, free supercharger, and the new hardware 4 with all double pane windows
Just curious, how did you get the free supercharging? Thx.
@TouchLifeStudio I had a 2014 model s that had free supercharing that would be transferable if I bought a new S X or Y not a model 3 though
The Model Y doesn’t have all double pane windows.
@@Resist4 two front ones
@@michaeltavares2690 I know that, but you said “all double pane windows”.
Congratulations on the new Plaidington Model X Dave . 🎉 . Safe drives .
I definitely have a different impression of the fit and finish, the camera doesn’t lie!!
Very nice, good luck Dave!
nice
I hope you stopped at the sono bakery while there 😊
He's probably short of bread after the Model X purchase.
Plaidington! you are a sweet gentleman. god bless you and your family.
Dave quick question does your new Model X Plaid have HW4?
Yes
And new headlights
Dave, I took advantage of Elon’s offer to transfer my FSD from my 2017 X to a new one. I checked and found there was a new Inventory X in stock for $10,000 less than if I had ordered one with the exact configuration that I wanted. Checking Inventory is always a smart thing to do!
the belt should go over the shoulder and never under the arm. :)
14:25 should have flown Alyssa out to do that
Always a good addition to the videos.
Why is it that Tesla do not put center armrests on the middle row individual seats? Seems like a glaring omission to me.
cool
I hade two choices for my red Model S :P Christine from the movie Christine but that feelt kinda scary so i went with my second choise that was Red Devil :P
Red Sonja would be good.
@@scottbreseke716 had to google that😆 think I had a poster of her as a kid but never seen the movie I think🤔😆
If you look at a lot of the Tesla's from the most expensive to the model 3 you will see they almost all look alike one is a little bigger than the other that's the main difference there's a good video on this it's all pretty much the same car except one is a little bigger than the other
Forget the seams, how does it drive? Missing your Model 3?
Can't wait until you take it on a road trip and show us those scenery ❤
Launch happens on the tester factory line

Dave, or anyone know how to find your build date? I didn't think vin shows any specific date.
? Every car will tell you the month and year. The sticker is typically located on the driver side just next to the sticker that tells you about the tire size and pressure. Usually it's a gray sticker with the manufacturer and the date it was made...it will have other info was well..and the vin will have a bar code so service centers just scan it. It's been this way for a long time.
