    This brush engine in this software is mind blowing. I'm finally leaving photoshop after 15 years.

    just finished watching.. its 11:15pm and i'm off to bed soon.. really enjoyed your video and its brought up so many questions and comments i'd like to ask and make..
    i had to rewind and double check.. your using a reference video clip at times.. how is it borderless?.. pureref?
    i'm guessing the brush creator will have similar parameters to the one in artrage for example, giving an almost infinite (well not infinite, stacks would be a better estimate) combinations of settings..
    love the painterly effect your brushes give.. but thinking about it its more your entire process..
    i treat myself to a huion kamvas pro 20 with lockdown savings but it wasnt long before i relegated it to being my second monitor - reverting back to my 20yo wacom intuos pro.. perhaps i should have perservered longer with the huion - but old habits blah..
    the loupedeck.. its around £250?.. i noticed its replaced your keyboard?.. i'm guessing it doesnt do anything that you cant do 'longhand' but simply speeds up your process?.. ***
    yes please to more videos.. cheers man ;)
    *** just watched your loupedeck video

      Hey, many thanks for such great feedback - really appreciated. The reference video is just a video (mp4) file. I don't use it inside Rebelle, just have it playing on a second monitor. the references in Rebelle are just static JPG (sampled from the video). I did have an old intuous many years ago, but I prefer the direct drawing experience - but each to their own for sure, whatever works best is right. Yes the LoupeDeck Live that I have is about £230 - not cheap for sure, but is quality. Yes it replaces keyboard for me, but the rotary controls are a big change - rotate and zoom etc are so much more natural to me as a rotary control. Please feel free to ask any questions - it's great to get the input. Best wishes.

    Awesome video! Are you using the art pen for brush rotation? Or are you using tilt or pressure?

    • @BasementPicasso
      @BasementPicasso  Před 2 lety

      Hi Matt, thanks for the feedback :-) Much appreciated. The Huion I use with the standard pen that they supply supports angle of tilt (from perpendicular to about 30 degrees from flat). A tool like Realistic allows a pencil stroke to be really thin with the pen held upright and to give a soft broad stroke when it is at an angle. Very natural. It also supports angle (from 0 to 360) that you lean the pen at so the brush head can be rotated through 360 degrees - again very natural feeling.

      @BasementPicasso  Před 2 lety

      The only downside with Huion tablet is that Tilt & angle work well in the middle of the screen but poor right at the edge

      @@BasementPicasso Thank you for the feedback. I'm not sure what you meant by "A tool like Realistic" is that a third-party software to make the pen better? I would love to see a video on how you handle pen rotation, and other tilt functions in Rebelle. It seems so important to painting digitally, but hard to find info on.

    Enjoying this latest video and your two brushes. I would like to try them. I have also been thinking about a KAMVAS Pro 24 GT-240 looking a the spec I downloaded from Huion website it looks like good value but still a stretch for me. I also noticed another similar modle KAMAS Pro 24 QHD. Said 'coming soon'. Do you know about this one? At them moment I will draw with my trusty old Wacom I've had for years.... I'm hesitating. Thanks for video. How do I try your 2 brushes?

    • @BasementPicasso
      @BasementPicasso  Před 2 lety

      Thanks for the feedback Linda. I have the Kamvas pro 24 QHD. I think it is about £800. The resolution is 1440 * 2560 which is fine for 24 inch. I am not convinced that a 24 inch etched screen will be much sharper at 4k which is what you get in the new one for about £1100. Maybe Huion will send me one to review :-) In terms of brushes, I am thinking about doing more brush creation and maybe selling them as a pack, but that won't be for a while. If I share any for free that would probably be through my website, basement-picasso. But I don't have any up there yet. One of my next videos will show more about how to create brushes which might help as well.

      I have a Kamvas 22 Plus. I use almost Rebelle 5 Pro, the Pigments look gorgeous. It looks pretty nice, the brush works like a charm and it's very mprecise, the Intuos Pro M i also have is only a bit better. The only fault (in Mac OS and Apple M1) is sometimes the drive doesn't work, you need to reopen the Huion app. You also need to calibrate the screen (with hardware calibrator); in addition you better use Rebelle 5 Pro which have color calibration support, but maybe you will be fine with standard Rebelle 5 (i guess standard Rebelle 5 uses sRGB profile if you don't have the Pro version).
      So, i recommend you the bigger screens if you can afford one of them, you will be happy. If not, the 22 Plus looks surprisingly good for a 1080p and 22" display. Make sure the pen uses at least the same technology as the Plus 22 (i guess it's named Pentech 3). Make sure also the screen don't have too much granularity, because you may lost detail and have a grain texture, in case you don0t like this (the same as if you add a matte screen protector to an iPad), The Plus 22 dosnp0t have that granularity, but a friend of mine purchased a Kamvas 16 and have it.

      @@BasementPicasso I hope Huion will ask you to review their new product. Although it's a stretch financially to purchase the 24 QHD - I probably will do it. I sounds like I will be happy with Kamvas Pro 24 QHD. Thanks for your information. I've been using my dear Wacom pad Intuos 4M and art pen for years and a pigment printer. I am enjoying your landscape CZcams tutorials. Congratulations on being both a super artist and having technical knowledge, something that doesn't always go together.

    What I don't understand is this: is the lesson more successful when it comes to part of the video itself?
