After a heartwarming reunion with our old school friend Gurpreet, we set out to explore Old Dubai and hunt for the latest gadgets. The excitement was palpable as we ventured into the labyrinthine alleys of Meena Bazar, known for its bustling electronics market.
Our mission was clear - find the best price for the coveted iPhone 14 Pro. However, what unfolded was beyond our expectations. The market, touted for its reputation of offering great deals, turned out to be a hotspot for scams targeting unsuspecting tourists. Disappointment struck as we encountered sellers employing various tricks to overcharge tourists. Prices skyrocketed, and some even refused to provide essential tax refund slips, a critical document for claiming back taxes on purchased devices.
Our friend took the plunge and purchased the Apple iPhone 14 Pro for a reasonable 77,000 INR. However, the billing process revealed a shocking twist - the final cost soared to a staggering 90,000 INR! To make matters worse, no tax refund slip was provided, leaving us questioning the authenticity of the entire shopping experience.

Bro calculation esa hai if you are swiping card they charge 2.5% to 3% charge and if you are paying by google pay or phone pe they take conversion charge or you can say hawala charges that is very common in dubai and most of the people from Kerala side so they tell you to pay on indian number...

To be on safe side, I suggest you to take the phone out of the box and carry it with you. In case of a custom check, there will be nothing to worry at Indian customs.

Please dont spread fake news. They take 2.5% additional amount if you pay by any cars. If you pay by cash no extra amount is taken. They even tell you this before doing payment. Out of 5% vat, 4% gets refunded at the airport.
Many people buy iphone from this market. We get cheap rate because dubai govt puts no import taxes on iphones and also theese shopkeepers buy the phone in bulk quantity.
Even i bought iPhone 15 pro max at 4600 dh from here. Till now not faced any single problem, not even phone heating.
See, you are correct that they inform you beforehand that 2.5% is taken but some of some of the stores refused to provide with the tax refund slip and created a huge confusion related to the % they are taking.
Even Iâve done shopping from there two years back but this time I found this thing and it was strange. The camera with which this vlog is shot was purchased from the same market!

iPhone gives global warranty so you need not worry in this case but if you buy Samsung or other phones they give UAE warranty only.

watching your videos and other youtubers who share their experiences buying a smartphone in Dubai, i guess the safest and smartest thing to do is to buy it via CASH or else they'll charge whatever they feel like when it comes to debit/credit cards or upi and other digital transactions.
