If you're looking for simpler dancing go to a salsa club or salsa social, and if you would still like to talk about their dancing skills, then go dance with either of them socially. I have danced with Emily and she is an amazing follow and Junior a great lead for women.
Yes! This is competitive salsas dancing at its best. Beautiful interpretation of the music, nice spins, exact coreography. One of my favorite! Just a pitty it has no intro...
FYI - This is Salsa On2 (Mambo). It's not ballroom as the previous person has mentioned. If you have done ballroom you would know the difference. This is choreographed for this performance as you need to at this world class level. Emily & Junior are also some of the best I have seen social dancing too, so they can do freestyle and kick ass. I love this routine but also agree they have done to many turns, but that is their own style. Salsa should be dancing how you want! happy dancing ;-)

Her spinning in incredible for all those spins she was doing, changing hand combinations at the same time. If that were me in her shoes right now, the performance would be all over in 3 seconds.
I agree in the too much spinning and more gymnastics dance, salsa is the mix of cha cha mambo and afro caribenos dance, means hips, waist movement, steps according with the conga, spin, and a lot of sugar. It's understanding it is a competition but not lose the means of the salsa.

Quality intro, and nice interpretation, just needed more genuine dancing and rhythmic feel of the music, as opposed to multiple spinning. Would like to see these guys dancin' to something a l'il slower, that would allow for more time for expression.
So for all of u people saying that this is not salsa.. i pose the questions: 1) How should salsa competitions be judged if salsa dancing is not about spins and moves? 2) Do you know the difference between social dancing and choreographed dance? ==> also, if u say that they are not feeling the music, ur probly wrong. in order to dance on2 u have to feel the tumbao rhythm (drum). when ppl first learn, they sometimes dont feel it but once they are comfortable with the rhythm.. it is all feeling.
I love dancing salsa. You feel the music and you dance it with feelings. This couple is good but i have to agree to some comment on this board its more like a circus,no feelings, no grace at all!
Sadly the same people are posting cruel and negative remarks as from a few days earlier I'm sure they've never competed in a contest of any type in their life Once again not one positive remark just mean spirited comments If this couple or any other couple were their family members would they post the same inconsiderate remarks Fortunately most competitors will not be affected by this type of behavior Lets support any and all efforts to help this form of dance and all its divergent styles grow.

i agree with kiddo. anyone who dances salsa knows, girls love spinning, thus, spin them. its not all technique, ask a random girl in the club to dance, its no longer rehearsed,then the dance is led by the skill/passion of both dancers
I must agree with some of the previous comments on this particular video. Many of you have recognized that this did lose a lot of its grace and didn't emphasize on the basic dance steps of salsa. However, thankfully this was not the routine that got them second. I think what they were trying to do was hoping that their emphasis on the endurance and accuracy of her spinning would win. But once again all they did was repeat alot of turns and spins failing to perform basics.

If you mute the music, it's clearly visible whether the dance is on1 or on2.The place of the pause makes the structure of the dance so different that it should be mistaken only by beginners. Especially if it has been performed by excellent dancers. Personally - there are songs that make me dance on1, others - on2. Maybe I am awfully wrong, but the song "La Pelota" doesn't inspire me to dance on2.
si eso es salsa mi abuela es cosmonauta eso lo que es una gran actuacion de circo donde todos esas vueltas estan muy bien cordinadas con los movimientos de los brazos,donde esta el ritmo,el movimiento del cuerpo al compas de la musica,no jodan eo es tremenda practica de gimnastica,ve a los cubanos bailar la salsa,y quedaran encanados chao y gracias
