Los trajes mas bellos y elegantes eran el de Miss Venezuela y Miss Puerto Rico, estaban adelantadas para su epoca. Ambas resaltaban muy por encima del resto. En este desfile tanto Silvia como Devoraht (Venezuela y Puerto Rico) tuvieron el mejor caminar, una pasarela glamorosa.
España tenia esta corona ganda pero al final Puerto Rico domino en la respuesta final por encima de las demas......Ademas la de Puerto Rico no seria la mas hermosa pero tenia porte, elegancia y eso la ayudo aparte de la seguridad que Proyecto. Como dije España pudo ganar pero la respuesta final determina quie gana la corona y Puerto Rico fue la mejor.
Final answer didn’t matter in the 80s if that’s the case some winners wouldn’t be winners. Little moments always make the winner. It all has to do with destiny. For example when the music changed while Deborah did her turn. In that iconic moment I knew she was going to win. Plus her demeanor was charming and kind, unlike Spain who was cocky and full of herself
Deborah Cathy Deu was under the judges radar until the evening gown competition. Front runner Spain came in sixth and that was when the judges opinion started to change.
I remember watching this live, and as Puerto Rico appeared and began walking down the stairs I knew the pageant was over and she had just won it. She looks utterly regal in evening gown and stood out far above the rest!
@@keithbrashier4848 people often forgot how important the latter part of the pageant actually is...whatever impact a contestant had on swimsuit and may be even the interview portion is long forgotten when evening gown and the final question rolled about. The last rounds make the biggest impact in their final decisions.

Ya entrados en el top 5, esa corona debió quedar entre Miss Uruguay y Míss Zaire. Mucho se ha dicho sobre está elección y para ser francos, Miss Puerto Rico no era la más destacada esa noche, salvo por su vestido de gala, destacado absolutamente por encima del de todas las candidatas. En ocasiones esos detalles hacen la diferencia entre un triunfo y una derrota. Sin embargo ese año debió ganar Miss Uruguay, bella y carismática, no se volvió a ver una candidata así representando a ese país.

Me gustaba mas esta version de las pequenas heemanitas, el mismo del 86, el vestido de la potorra era el tipico trapo americano Comprado en un outlet,chile elegante, la canadiense mas arropada no podia estar y la venezolana Si no se le niega el vestidazo, elegantisimo el trapo para la epoca ese vestido la metio en las finalistas.
Miss USA wore the exact same gown here as in the Miss USA pageant. Too bad it didn't work out for her as well here. She is beautiful. Spain's gown was her undoing here. The gown would have worked much better for her without the rounded hips. Miss Puerto Rico turned the tide here. She looked regal that spoke “Queen”. Miss Ireland was not attractive to me. Neither was Miss Chile. Miss Uruguay had a "twiggy" type of look that worked for her. Miss Canada looked matronly in her gown as did Miss Venezuela. The standout however in this competition was Miss Zaire....she was secure, poised and so elegant.
I agree about Laura. The same thing happened in 1988 when USA wore the same gown, but did not fair well at Universe. On the other side, Julie Hayek actually placed better in EG at Universe than she did at USA wearing the same gown.
Brasil is overweight!! and Zaire is nice face but the body...not that much. Venezuela ... please!! look that face... she looks so old! I think Spain was really beautiful even more than Puerto Rico.... Chile was ok, specially the body, I don't like her hair style here.

Is it me or just my imagination? Now, Miss Universe is a symbol of both inner and outer beauty and an inspiration to children. I've notice the contestants who were particularly gracious to the sweet little ladies escorting them in this segment of the competition, scored better than those who appeared to be more interested in the judges attention then being sweet and gracious to those little babies. Case and point, if you notice Miss USA & Miss Brazil were rude and received rotten scores. However, Miss Spain, Miss Uruguay, Miss Chile, were excessively nice...While, Miss Puerto Rico, Miss Zaire and Miss Venezuela were gracious and respectful, thus received higher scores.
Leí una entrevista a Teresa Sánchez en la hemeroteca de un diario español después del Miss Universo, y ella dice que ese gesto exaltado que dio al final, cuando estaba en la parte final con Deborah Carthy-Deu, fue de alivio, porque ella no quería ser la Miss Universo. No entiendo por qué muchos dicen que hubo un mal entendido, y que Teresa hizo ese gesto porque no entendió que era la primera finalista.

I agree about Laura. The same thing happened in 1988 when USA wore the same gown, but did not fair well at Universe. On the other side, Julie Hayek actually placed better in EG at Universe than she did at USA wearing the same gown.

Brasil is overweight!! and Zaire is nice face but the body...not that much. Venezuela ... please!! look that face... she looks so old! I think Spain was really beautiful even more than Puerto Rico.... Chile was ok, specially the body, I don't like her hair style here.

Is it me or just my imagination? Now, Miss Universe is a symbol of both inner and outer beauty and an inspiration to children. I've notice the contestants who were particularly gracious to the sweet little ladies escorting them in this segment of the competition, scored better than those who appeared to be more interested in the judges attention then being sweet and gracious to those little babies. Case and point, if you notice Miss USA & Miss Brazil were rude and received rotten scores. However, Miss Spain, Miss Uruguay, Miss Chile, were excessively nice...While, Miss Puerto Rico, Miss Zaire and Miss Venezuela were gracious and respectful, thus received higher scores.

La española estaba muy exaltada, creía que era la ganadora desde el comienzo. Debería soltar su pelo e tener una sonrisa más natural.
Leí una entrevista a Teresa Sánchez en la hemeroteca de un diario español después del Miss Universo, y ella dice que ese gesto exaltado que dio al final, cuando estaba en la parte final con Deborah Carthy-Deu, fue de alivio, porque ella no quería ser la Miss Universo. No entiendo por qué muchos dicen que hubo un mal entendido, y que Teresa hizo ese gesto porque no entendió que era la primera finalista.
