In this clip, Hurricane Chris spoke about "A Bay Bay" taking off nationally after signing to a label, which got it to "106 & Park." He then spoke about the song peaking at #7 on the Billboard Hot 100, and Hurricane Chris then spoke about doing the remix to the song. When Vlad pointed out the long list of features on the remix, including E-40, Boosie, and Jeezy, Hurricane Chris said that he estimated that $500,000 of his budget was spent on the remix verses alone. To hear more, including putting out "Hand Clap," hit the above clip. - Zábava

Big facts!
“I’m use to having somebody say something negative about what I’m doing, where I come from” - that’s a sad truth for many kids. If we’d push these young people, encourage them, let them know we believe in them, they’d be so much better off.
Truth 😔
That’s a sad truth.
YES
😇 😇 😇
I grew up in Bossier/Shreveport shit is ass to me I hated it my whole time there Dak Prescott grew up in Haughton which is in the same area shit trash there don't miss it at all.

This is so sad. The labels just want fast money rather than the longevity and prosperity of the artist.
That’s their job at the end of the day.. they give you the exposure and you figure it out yourself with people who have your best interest
@@passionplaya4510 They don’t truly care about artists. That’s why the game is where it is today. A bunch of lackluster artists not lasting anymore.
@@reezyvofficial why should they? Your an employee. What job cares about you?
Well yea that’s why folks say if you want to make money sign to a label. If you want to make music and truly be yourself as an artist, stay independent. Find another way to stack your bread bc at the end of the day it’s not the route for everybody
@@deez9805 you can definitely make money going independent. Its just going to take longer.

That's crazy cause the remix gave those people clout. They should have paid him

Yeah
That’s not how it works, all of those artists on that remix were already established and bigger than Chris. They gave his career a boost not the other way around.
When I was stationed at barksdale AFB we use to have a freestyle friday on base. He use to show up and kill it. It was pretty cool.

He had the talent n the music and the work... What was missing is the right buisness behind the scenes that why my dude never progressed to the top or had the success of other Louisiana artists
He has a good head on his shoulders I hope he gets a second chance to thrive in some capacity - unless he already is on his own!
think he killed someone and was arrested
500k for the verses altogether sound appropriate, but music really only had a few avenues those days so marking up the price seems like a reasonable thing back then so he might not be lying.
For the time the song came out...it's really high
@Elcamin0Zac You bet not ever let anyone tell you that you can't count!

B High’s interview is waaaayyyyy better than Vlad’s. B High’s chemistry and questions is just different
Yes. B High seems more genuine and the interview sounds like a real conversation
It’s a black on black thing. Besides bhigh has already said he doesn’t ask questions that don’t concern him and only asks questions fans want to know. He was taking a shot at Vlad but bhigh has copied Vlads intro. I watch both.

Yep, these labels are historically predatory. Going after young and impressionable kids and tricking them out to be stars to milk them for everything they're worth, and more before discarding them. 360 deals are some of the worst deals in record label history. What they don't tell you about, and what Spencer Cornelia does an excellent breakdown of, is that all the money the label is spending on you is recoupable. That's why it's called an advance. The artist has to pay all of that back, and they make a percentage off of almost everything you do, even after it's all paid. Own your masters, own your publishing. Get you a good lawyer, and don't allow the label to 'provide' one for you.
stfu he never deserved a deal
thisssssss
@@therealsyndicate gvy
This is why I don't buy music. Because the money almost never goes back to the artist. Most proper artists make most of their money from performing live (or if you're someone who absolutely can't put on a good live show like Soulja Boy, you just resort to scams and pyramid schemes). If you want to support an artist, buy concert tickets. Pirate your music, it's actually more moral to do so than feeding the corrupt labels.
Sounds like he has a lot of social regrets from his ascent & “should’ve done” moments connection-wise, kinda sad to hear
I felt the opposite. I felt like it was good that he could reflect and learn from those lessons and teach others.
Most people do
I was just bumpin the song on Sunday lol on my way to the beach 🏖 😎
Checking in from Shreveport LA!!!
Hand Clap was that shiiiiiiiit! Hurricane has some real talent, hands-down. He was over-shadowed by Soulja Boy & that put him on the back burner sadly, along with the whole record deal "politics" they call it. Good to see Chris out here living life & telling his story on how his come up came about.

As I get older and realize shows like TRL and 106th & Park were purely based off Payola is more devastating than finding out Santa Claus isn’t real
Payola??
@@sovraxmansa4144 payola is when radio slots and chart ratings are gained by paying off people instead of organically making it to those places based on music popularity. You can basically pay your way to a #1 song. It’s 100% business and 0% talent.
“Payola, in the music industry, is the illegal practice of paying a commercial radio station to play a song without the station disclosing the payment. Under US law, a radio station must disclose songs they were paid to play on the air as sponsored airtime.[1] The number of times the songs are played can influence the perceived popularity of a song, and payola may be used to influence these metrics. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) treats payola as a violation of the Sponsorship Identification Rules, which requires any broadcast of paid material to include a disclosure.[1][2]”
