Where is the entry to this? That rock formation at the start looks distinctive, but I don't recall seeing it.

Yes, an amazing formation and great trip. Cime Caron, follow Rosael, then take right beyond fence before the steep part starts.

The refuge looked to be closed?
We stopped there for lunch and drinks a couple of times, really reasonable prices and amazing food off the beaten path.
The only way to get there on skis is a fair off piste run so wasn’t very busy, other than that they get walkers in.
Well worth a stop if your ever there again

Ryan Jon Do mean the cafe just by the lake? It was open, we were there 2 hours before that day. Brilliant spot!

Morten Dokkedal yes mate that’s the 1, it’s called Lac du Lou refuge. It’s a real hidden gem, restaurant quality food for cheaper than a burger bar

Its a nice run but id have carried more speed into the flats instead of stopping all the time.

Skiing with a group off-piste with a guide. Number one rule is that you follow the guide's instructions. The guide is responsible for assessing the snow conditions/avalanche risk and ultimately the safety of the whole group. You don't go ahead of the guide unless they tell you to do so. They will tell you where it is safe to stop and other instructions like whether it is strictly one skier at a time until the previous skier has reach the next safe stopping place or if you can just leave a few turns between each skier. Also in a big-ish group the guide will stop at ridges to make sure they can see and account for the whole group and are able to assist if there is an avalanche or someone has fallen and hurt themselves or got lost.
