James Crash - Wreck of Old 97

Using scenes from a single source, I've compiled the climax of a dramatic James crash when his brake blocks caught fire and were ineffective. Now, while he was on relatively flat track (in spite of other scenes I used from elsewhere), he probably could have slowed down. And what was the guy in the brake van doing...or not doing? The brake van didn't seem to be adding any braking power here. It would also seem the train's Guard would be the only survivor of this wreck, as the Driver and Firemen are not seen jumping before the derailment and are not seen in the aftermath. Even if they did jump, survival (at least intact) is not a guarantee.
Music used in this video is "Wreck of Old '97" by Marteka & William Lake off their Keepin' It Real CD, which I have a purchased copy of. Their version of the song is the best for this sequence, and I would hope that they plus the powers that be (Mattel / HiT Entertainment) on the video material would allow me to use this to make a music video out of this stuff.
