Sir Elton John stopped a concert @ the Universal Amphitheater in L.A. in the 80s - pulled a spotlight on me as I approached the stage to hand him two dozen red roses (presentation style) then stopped everything to take pictures with me. This was after his 3rd number... no one - especially me could have foreseen that!! Then 10 yrs later @ the Chrysler Arena - he stopped to receive another bouquet of roses from me - once again. This song reminds me of my dad! He's had a off and on relationship with me. He left me at 7 months old and my brother was 2. Has another family. He didn't see me again until I was 10 years old. I'm 52 now and he's never said why he left or that he's sorry for not being there for us. My brother passed away in 2019 without a reason why he did it. It's still hard for me to accept because a girl just wants her dad in her life for the good but more for when things are bad. I guess he'll answer for it someday but I doubt he will ever say sorry to me. 😢
This song was literally my entire teenage years. Always looking for my forever someone, entering into relationships that never lasted due to my own incompetence or my own insecurities. I think a part of me thrived off of the drama of relationships. When I truly became an adult, I began to realize that these kinds of dramatic relationships are combustible and it was no wonder I was always looking, never finding.
