Well informed video 👍
As a Canberra resident I have to say this is probably the most accurate and comprehensive Canberra Travel CZcams video I have seen, it definitely deserves more views. Well done!!
Thanks so much Darrel, your comment made my day! It took a lot of time & effort to make this video, with the hope it will be useful for anyone visiting Canberra. Many of my friends asked me what I do in 5 days in Canberra because they think there are not many interesting things to do there (especially when once I said I would spend my Xmas holiday there 😂). I've been visiting Canberra 5 times and still like it a lot.
That view from Mt Ainslie is named the "Marion Mahony Griffin View" - in honour of Walter Burley Griffin's wife whose finished artwork of Walter's design was one of the reasons why they won the prize to design Canberra. It included her envisaging of what that view could look like, once built up. A replica of that view is part of the MMG View - with accompanying background on the early years of our city. Then spend some time walking around Lake Burley Griffin itself - and take in the view of the Brindabella Mountains that surround our city.
The National Portrait Gallery contains many portraits of the people who contributed to Australia's life. Many from our colonial periods illustrate those who were famous - and those who were not so famous.
For those of the Vietnam War period, there is a sound and light exhibit in the War Memorial of an insertion of our troops by Huey. Using actual recordings of voices from one of them.
Many thanks Peter for the info.
Loved your video. Thank you so much. I will be visiting Canberra very soon & was wondering what are the places to visit. Thanks a ton.
Hi Shabar, I'm so glad the video is useful and hope it saves you lots of time planning. I love Canberra, may come back in Autumn around end of April to see autumn leaves :). Enjoy your time there!
