  • Restoration 1970's Tonka F1 - Probably Last One In The World . Watch a well done restoration about a very rare toy,1970's Tonka Formula 1 Racing Car.
This Tonka is made in the 1970's and is perfect for restoration video !
While looking for a Tonka for restoration, I don't know how but I found this rarity. I must mention that I found only two Tonka of this model. I already knew that a nice restoration video will come out. I bought it, the Tonka arrived and I started to restore it even though I was working on another restoration. I put everything aside and started by disassembling it.
After disassembly, although I thought at the beginning of the restoration that it would be easier to restore, I quickly realized that it would not be so. I counted 58 pieces that needed restoration.
After that, I tested it for lead, it came out negative and I started sanding it, then painting it and things became simpler. I was already in the middle of restoration. The cyclone is also present in this restoration video as well as nickel plating.
I worked hard but with pleasure for this restoration to be to your liking, I hope you like it. And in the end, I finished the restoration video with a comic moment,as I used to.
Cost of restoration : around 140 $,just 75$ was the Tonka
Time of restoration : I worked 3 weeks for the video, but I think only half of time was physical work.
    Decals : / teofreelance
Enjoy the video my dears! And don't forget to subscribe!!

I don't understand why anyone would be screaming he restored it to how it looked when it was new. He didn't change colours or modify or add paint or do what a lot of people would call a restoration plus. This is as good as any I've seen. Including the guy that was on History Channel restoring stuff for the Pawn Stars and he charges insane amount to do the same thing this guy is. He would probably charge 500.00 to do this to the Tonka toy. Much better than the "restorers" who bury stuff in their garden and smash it up and then go and buy another good one for parts to make it look like they are doing something to it. Then spray paint the thing and mess it up further.

Wow, that's an extremely unusual toy from Tonka. Usually they are simple, tough toys. This one is extremely intricate. I could see this as a challenging job from the beginning.
