- Restoration 1970's Tonka F1 - Probably Last One In The World . Watch a well done restoration about a very rare toy,1970's Tonka Formula 1 Racing Car.
This Tonka is made in the 1970's and is perfect for restoration video !
While looking for a Tonka for restoration, I don't know how but I found this rarity. I must mention that I found only two Tonka of this model. I already knew that a nice restoration video will come out. I bought it, the Tonka arrived and I started to restore it even though I was working on another restoration. I put everything aside and started by disassembling it.
After disassembly, although I thought at the beginning of the restoration that it would be easier to restore, I quickly realized that it would not be so. I counted 58 pieces that needed restoration.
After that, I tested it for lead, it came out negative and I started sanding it, then painting it and things became simpler. I was already in the middle of restoration. The cyclone is also present in this restoration video as well as nickel plating.
I worked hard but with pleasure for this restoration to be to your liking, I hope you like it. And in the end, I finished the restoration video with a comic moment,as I used to.
Cost of restoration : around 140 $,just 75$ was the Tonka
Time of restoration : I worked 3 weeks for the video, but I think only half of time was physical work.
Decals : / teofreelance
Enjoy the video my dears! And don't forget to subscribe!!

@@CoolAgainRestoration, nice👌!
Some of them are in google search, but if you open the link they are sold. Like this one yellow. I write to the ebay seller to put “sold out” in the announce. 👍🏻
Had me until you used pop rivets.
“What’s he doing with that coke can.. ahh.”. Made me laugh literally out loud.
Great to hear that dan 👍🏻🍻
Yeah, my wife asked me what I was laughing at so hard.
😇
Yeah; how’d he make that engine ‘simulator’ anyway?
Same. Had me confused for a minute there😂😂😂
The engine sound at the end with the can 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
😅😅😅 I made a little drive with 🙈
At first I was like what? Then I watched the video and laughed 👍
Thanks chris 👍🏻👍🏻🍀
I did not know that trick with the can
You know now 😂
Never mind about restoration, sound effects is best.
😎😎
No kidding
Wut BRA
Never seen a Tonka F1 before. Beautiful restoration👌🔥
Thank you buddy! 👍🏻🔥
Chip channel has been crazy if we see it
😅😅😅
Me too.
😅😅😅
So cool. The toy collector folks I know will be screaming, but I was dying laughing with your coke can speedway rendition. Beautiful restoration!
Thank you for your thoughts thecrystalcrow 🍀👍🏻
As a collector, I tell you - toys are for playing. If you're collecting toys and never goof with them, you're doing it wrong.
I not do business with this toy. I like to restore and that’s all !
@@notfeedynotlazy Right? All of my toy restorations end up right back where they started. In the hands of 2nd and 3rd generations of sandbox play. I slowly restore all of my own old toys that I put miles and miles on. This isn't even all of them. www.thejunkmanadv.com/toy-restorations.html I also do cars and motorcycles, and have for the last 25 years.
@@CoolAgainRestoration și mie îmi plac .Țineți a ta copilărie fiindcă eu am 60 primeverilelele.Eu te admir.
Man that coke can thing caught me out, had me in stitches 😂
😂😂thanks man
I’m a retired industrial Millwright and your videos are like therapy in the fact that you have an extremely keen eye for detail and a patient, humble gratitude for the opportunity to bring back to life those dear collectables that would have probably ended up in the scrap heap.
Thanks for appreciation Doug 👍🏻🍀
This is the best restoration of an old rusty race car I have ever seen! Man, it looks brand new. Well done my friend!
Very very happy to read this beautiful comment. Thanks Reed 👍🏻🍻
One of the best restorations I've seen. I bet any marketing/accounting executive today, would have a heart attack at how well these toys were built back in the day 😉
They think only how to make money..
Man that was the longest and most satisfying pit-stop I've ever seen an F1 make, and those racing car sounds at the end were just perfect, fantastic job and great looking car!
I waited too long for someone to comment this idea with “long pitstop” 😂😅
@@CoolAgainRestoration Glad I could put your mind at ease!
You read my mind :))
What a beautiful model, you did it justice! And as for the sound effects, well that was a bonus!
🙈🙈Olaf,thank you very much 👍🏻🍀
I don't understand why anyone would be screaming he restored it to how it looked when it was new. He didn't change colours or modify or add paint or do what a lot of people would call a restoration plus. This is as good as any I've seen. Including the guy that was on History Channel restoring stuff for the Pawn Stars and he charges insane amount to do the same thing this guy is. He would probably charge 500.00 to do this to the Tonka toy. Much better than the "restorers" who bury stuff in their garden and smash it up and then go and buy another good one for parts to make it look like they are doing something to it. Then spray paint the thing and mess it up further.
I really appreciate this words Jordan 🙏🏻😇👍🏻🍀 thank you very much
That’s because it’s easier for those people to ridicule and criticise than to try and do something constructive. This guy is a craftsman, nothing less.
🤗🤗🤗 shed man x
@@shedmanx3640 I am just glad that there are others that got up the confidence to put an otherwise dilapidated object back into service, not just for looking at.
Thejunkman, thank you very much my friend 👍🏻👍🏻🍀
When I saw the thumbnail of what you were restoring I was like, "well there's not much to that" but holy moley there's a lot to it. Nice work, finished product looks terrific.
That’s I thought before disassembly 😂 thank you very much Omini 👍🏻🍀
I think you made a very good job, those of us old enough will remember the slogan 'Real tough toys for real tough boys' which at nearly half a century later is truly vindicated.
Beautiful comment here 🍀👍🏻
Ingenious way to make the springs! I swear I learn something from every one of your videos!😊
Cyclone fanclub, show some love for "The cyclone"!
He deserve some love 🥳🥳
#love Cyclone (p.s how dose the cyclone make the screws look new and shiny)
@@pineappletries-_-2558 By the constant rubbing of the material he puts in there with the parts. Different materials have different hardness and grain size, and in the case of this video may actually deposit a little material on the parts to close up holes. I guess choosing the right material probably involves a little magic too. 😉
@@dogcarman thank you very much the more I know the better so thanks
The coke can...lol...absolutely brilliant!! Great restoration as well.
Glad you liked John 👍🏻🍀
can't tell u how many times i wished youtubers narrated restorations...
I love it when Tonka vehicles are repaired and refurbished. They were played with and loved by children. It's great to see you bring them back to life. 😍💖
Glad you liked Martin 👍🏻👍🏻 thanks
Wow 🤩 Very nice F1 Racing Car! Very nice restoration! Very nice channel! Keep doing it my friend! 👏
Thank you my friend 👍🏻
This so great! The sound effect was icing on the cake. I subbed the first time I saw "The Cyclone" and am thrilled to see it again.

Thank you blueridermg 👍🏻🤗🍀
Keep up the great work. Good to see so many people take interest to your channel. Your talent is well appreciated
Thank you very much my friend 👍🏻👍🏻 I try to do my best
The other videos of knives and blade are good but this one brought tears of joy, after seeing the car restored so beautifully. 👍👍👍
Glad you liked it so much 😇
Amazing job!
I really enjoyed learning about a new way to “sand,” the final drive, and subtle safety tips and reminders like checking for lead.
Your restorations are entertaining, satisfying, and educational!
Glad you liked Alvin and thank you very much 👍🏻🍻
Just found this channel and holly cow that's a tonka I've never seen and low key want XD
Thank you very much Wilford 👍🏻🍀🤗
I'm starting to like all the videos even though i came late to the channel😉👍😊and of course you reply each n every message and that's awesome.👍👍😇

Glad to hear that Slade 👍🏻🤗🍀
Loved the "drive" at the end!
🙈 tkx man 👍🏻🍀
Great job bringing an old loved toy back to life 👍🏻.
This racer is truly rare indeed. I like that you took the time to get it right and make treasure from trash. Nicely done, sir.
Thank you very much Paul . I really appreciate your thoughts 👍🏻🍀
Ah, a genuine & proper unstaged toy restoration 🥳
Thank you very much devilishmode 🍀👍🏻🤗
is this a sarcastic context?
What?
It has to be, as rust shouldn’t sit on top of paint (yellow).
One of the best restore ever!.. The Coke was just priceless lol
That was the point 👍🏻🤗🍀tkx Jason
Beautiful...the reason you found only a few, is because you guys restored them all 😸😸👌🏾
I dont saw another tonka f1 restored but who know?!? Maybe someone restore this beauty without video. Thank you very much Andrew 👍🏻
They just don’t make toys like this anymore. Fantastic job!
Thanks 🙏
You should secure screws with zinc plating - they will rust faster than the speed of light, without any protection.
After sanding them, everytime I let in the oil for one,two days 👍🏻
There are people who watch pimple popping videos because it's " satisfying" to them. 😫
I watch restoration vids. I believe that makes me normal.
Glad you liked man 👍🏻🍀
A strong finger with the move" come to me" is always a nice skill to learn and use ;)
Outstanding in terms of the quality of the work and the uniqueness of the model.
This must be suggested to everyone who is at least watching toy restoration vids.
You have right Alexander. We’ll see what youtube are doing.
How can anyone dislike this? This is an amazing restoration! May the Downforce be with you Ha Ha! :)
:)) thank you archiepops 👍🏻🍀
@Promotions Only the shade of yellow is not Tonka yellow. I don't think he actually color matches. I've seen that problem in other videos.
Makes me wonder what the condition of the other car was like? 😂
Amazing and realistic special sound effects! Great job restoring this one.
Thank you very much Alexi 👍🏻🍀🤗
Really like that Dremel tool box you made.Cool idea.Gonna build one myself.Thank you for your creativity. As well as bringing these jems back to life.
Thank you for appreciate my work Rui 👍🏻🍀
Such a beautifully made toy. Its such a shame this kind of care is not taken when designing modern toys
Right 👍🏻
My dislikes:
People who interrupt me when I'm watching your video. LOL..
My Likes:

Loved watching the restoration, I did recall having the same car in the shed under a pile of dust. Now I will think about the restoration myself.
Very nice Sandra 🤩
Fine tools, superb restoration. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for appreciate my work André 👍🏻👍🏻
Amazing stuff. As child of the 70s it's good to see stuff being saved, even if kids these days probably have appreciation of it.
You’re right ! Thank you for appreciation 👍🏻🍀🤗
Engine sound game on point. All around fantastic!!

Thanks Moon Pie 👍🏻
That's a very detailed look into the past .. thanks for sharing!!!
Glad you liked Mike 👍🏻
beautiful model and magnificent restoration!
Thanks you very much Victor 👍🏻🍻
Wow! An *Actual* restoration. And NOT just replacing everything with new pieces 3D printed or cast. Or using parts from newer ones that are close enough to fit. You actually put in the work. I've *never* seen anyone do this before. So clearly your not american. Awesome job!
Thank you very much Katan 🍀👍🏻
Such a great show, and a great toy to restore! Please make more shows where you restore toys! Thanks for posting this.
😇
This is a really nice car, never seen a Tonka F1 racer. Great job!
Thank you Mr Sideburns! That was the goal,to make something unusual 👍🏻👍🏻tkx for watching
I love watching these restoration videos but I always worry about the old items containing lead based paint. I really appreciate when you include the lead test in the video, it helps me enjoy the video without worrying (too much) about your safety.
Thanks a lot Annemi ! I make the tests every time but I don’t show every time because I wonder to not make the video boring with a routine in every video .
@@CoolAgainRestoration I can only speak for myself but those lead tests where you snap the two sections of it to activate it before you test actually give great ASMR. And since you don't use music in your vids (which is great) the ASMR of the lead test really contributes to the viewing experience.
Super cool restoration! Thank you!
Thank you my friend ! 👍🏻🍀
Amazing job babe 😍😍😍 so proud of you ❤️❤️👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Tkx babe 😍
Gorgeous restoration! I didn’t know Tonka made a F1 race car.

Nice build. And great sound effects.
Thanks M Stephenson 👍🏻🍻
Outstanding work. Beautiful.
🙈 thank you very much Carlos 👍🏻🍀
Excellent skill and effort! Inspiring!
Thanks Madhu
That blue towel you had it resting on would have been an awesome color to paint it in. The yellow is the original color so I understand. The engine sounds were pretty spot on! Great restore!
Hahah 🤣 i thought to paint like that blue colour at some point, but yes, people and to see like OC. Thanks Bill 👍🏻
Such attention to detail, even down to shining the tires, it looks fantastic. 😊
It need to be like new 🙈 thank you very much and I really appreciate 👍🏻🤗🍀

Wow, that's an extremely unusual toy from Tonka. Usually they are simple, tough toys. This one is extremely intricate. I could see this as a challenging job from the beginning.
Was a bit challenging also for me 🙈 but I’m happy with the outcome
Amazing restoration, love your channel! Cheers from Australia.
