    Girl I’m planning Botox and fillers under my eyes after this quarantine. I’m 37 and the lines and wrinkles just jumped out on me. It bothers me so much. I’ve tried all kinds of eye creams. I might have to travel to DC to find me a black doctor to do it. Thanks for your openness

    I’ve been looking for a black channel who disclosed their experience with Botox under the eyes- so hard to find. I got Botox under the eyes as well as tear trough fillers and I couldn’t be happier. A much more subtle difference than I expected. Not sure if I’d get Botox again but definitely would get filler again! Continue with this direction of your channel, We need more!

      @@styleandbeautydoctor Sure. I get injections into my forehead, both temples, the back of my head, my neck, and both shoulders. I get a total of thirty and I get them every 12 weeks. For me, the injections are painful and I am in pain afterwards. I cannot touch the areas, exercise, or lay flat for a few hours. I do have to smile on and off to work my face muscles.
      Now I have absolutely no lines in my forehead! The therapy lasts for 10 weeks. I have been getting Botox for two years. It has not significantly improved my migraines but my neurologist feels it is the safest treatment. The cost for me is around $1700. I hope this helps.

    • @styleandbeautydoctor
      @styleandbeautydoctor  Před 4 lety

      Walking by faith I wouldn’t say one is better than the other when it comes to physical vs chemical. But some people prefer physical sunscreens because they have a sensitivity or allergic reaction to physical ones. The downside with some (ok a lot...lol) of physical sunscreens is that they can take more time to blend in and can tend to leave an ashy cast on the skin. I did review a few physical ones that don’t leave the ashy cast as well as chemical ones on my blog. I tried out a bunch so you can see which ones are most up your alley-check it out here: tsabd.com/non_ashy_sunscreens

    I would think for fine lines, retinol meant for the eye would be good. I’ll have to check out your filler video. At 53, I’m just starting to see darkness under my eyes, which I realized was a decrease in volume, not darkness on my skin. I’m actually using concealer for the 1st time, and it does the trick. But, 1-2 times per year isn’t bad, depending on the price.

    • @styleandbeautydoctor
      @styleandbeautydoctor  Před 4 lety

      Yes, retinol meant for the eye can work to reduce the appearance for some. You have to be careful with that, too of course.

    • @Nubianette
      @Nubianette Před 4 lety +1

      The Style and Beauty Doctor there’s very mild retinol that’s fine. I don’t have one for the eyes yet. For the face, I have Indeed Labs, but I’m not consistent. When I have been, I notice my face isn’t so oily. It’s possibly helping me to maintain. The only thing that really bothers me is the facial hair. Too bad, my hair is comparatively lighter than my skin color. I’m sort of sandy. I’ve been told laser would work on me. I just shave it off.

    • @styleandbeautydoctor
      @styleandbeautydoctor  Před 4 lety +1

      Nubianette yes, I know there are mild retinols-I use one in my routine now! But you still have to be careful, you know.
      You might be noticing that your skin is less oily because retinol can be notorious for drying out the skin. Some retinols seem like you gotta go through hell before seeing improvement 😭 If you notice it gets too drying, lessen how often you use it and then you can slowly pick it back up.
      Now facial hair is the bane of my existence 🤣🤣🤣 I feel like it’s my payback because when I was a kid/teen I used to be bewildered by women who had visible mustaches and chin hairs and now I’m one of them 😭😭😭 But working on laser hair removal so 🤞🏿 🙏🏿😭

      @faithumukoro2787 Před 4 lety

      @@styleandbeautydoctor You can use retinoids long term. I refer to years. I use Retin A which is the gold standard for anti-aging. Not everyone's skin can tolerate it and it should not be used under the eyes. It does migrate towards the eyes and helps with fine lines and wrinkles.

    • @styleandbeautydoctor
      @styleandbeautydoctor  Před 4 lety +1

      faith umukoro you actually can use retinol near your eyes, but let me expand more on what I said about using retinol long term because I have it worded in an incomplete way. One should ease their way into retinol especially for first-timers. I would start with a less irritating OTC version. But over time your skin can get used to it and then it can mean it’s time to try a stronger formula because the previous one may no longer providing results. And one must be careful when using retinol because it can be irrritating to some: using it less often at first and building up a tolerance and then increasing usage. Retin A can be very irritating to some and dermatologists will advise as to the best course of action when they prescribe it.

    Just wanted to give an Amen on the Groupon comment.....I have went that route too, to save money and I always regretted it. It never lasted as long and I had dr's drop my eye brows. All kinds of bad experiences ..so that was a good tip to add in the end. Stay away from Groupon when it comes to anything medical. *I also wanna add, if $500 is a lot of money to you....do not go this route. Better to just save that for something more permanent like surgery. $500 every 3-4 months over the course of years gets very expensive. And would cost way more than surgery.

      HaiDera Hollins it’s my discoloration lol. I’ve always had it-even waaaaay before fillers 😩😭 It used to be worse, but Dr Henry gave me a prescription that got rid of some of it. The compound (a mix of hydroquinone, kojic acid, and something else I can’t remember) expires after like two months though so I just left the discoloration at that. I didn’t want to keep getting more of the compound because 1. you need to cycle off things that fade discoloration like hydroquinone does and 2. It doesn’t bother me much-I still go out bare faced and when I do wear makeup, I can just use concealer to cover it.

Yes I feel you on the pandemic making it difficult to do a beauty treatment on a routine schedule. Def going to look more into undereye botox, its off label to use in that area, so not all derms provide this service. These 2 pesky lil fine lines in my under eye area are so darn stubborn. They didn't budge with tear trough filler. Although the filler did help with hollowness and an overall refreshed appearance. I'm sticking with a retinol based eye cream at night, to atleast hopefully prevent any more from popping up. We shall also see if micro current does anything. Fingers crossed. • @styleandbeautydoctor
      @styleandbeautydoctor  Před 11 měsíci

      Hey! Botox works by temporarily relaxing the muscles which aids with diminishing the look of things like fine lines and wrinkles. I don't believe there's a ton of evidence that it works differently on different skin tones---though skin of color does tend to be thicker so perhaps there are things that the injector may need to note for darker skin tones.

    I’ll tell u another good procedure my girl friends are black brown etc some complain of gummy smile. I’d never notice if they didn’t point it out to me. Now they have its the mf 1st thing I see lol. 1 asked me if I got filler in my lips? I said girl it’s called a lip flip, I did it myself. Now even though these r my ride an die girls hell no I wouldn’t give them the injections. But I did hand the needle with Botox in the correct amount lol she did great an got her own confidence back. Ohhhh she cried I was so happy for her. Again she is a nurse! However she never took the course again legal as long as u do it on yourself. She olé school but yeah she only did 4 total units an her gums aren’t even noticeable anymore

    Botox did nothing for me… I have under eye bags/lines and after $200 they were still there. Luckily it didn’t hurt so I’m not sure I want fillers as she was so sure the Botox would work .. this stuff adds up and still on Day 2 of my Cosmelan peel

      @@prabjot2832 hello I used it to Treat my melisma and I was very satisfied. My skin was brighter but did return to its normal complexion about 2 months later. I had much less pigmentation and several acne scars were removed. I bought extra Cosmelan for another treatment in 6 months or so just in case some pigmentation returns

    • @styleandbeautydoctor
      @styleandbeautydoctor  Před 3 lety +1

      Depends on the type of filler, how much you need, and where you go to get it. I’d say maybe $800-1200 but could be less in other cities.
