- Alex Skolnick is one of my prime influences among guitarists and so I did a little tribute vid the other day with some of my personal favorite leads of his. They ain't note by note, but hey, I tried to bring them justice. It was quite a challenge to rip through this entire thing due to all the key and tempo changes, lots of fun! Hope you guys enjoy as much as I did playing it and be sure to check out Alex and his amazing work! Thanks for the inspiration mate!

You are my hero. Thanks.
Thank you dear sir.
This guy's album preferences are very clear haha
I'm just glad to see Malpractice on here
Definitely Testaments most underrated song imo and the solo and the riff that precedes it/it ends on destroysssss
@@Zyborggian I still have, AND wear my Malpractice tour shirt from 1991, and yes, I was at the show lol
Genial el detalle, muchas gracias.
This is just incredible! The fact that he does all the leads in one take is insane. How does anybody down vote this? I need to see videos of them playing.
Jackasses.
not that hard if you are serious into guitar playing....
@@visionboxed and if you dont have recording anxiety....which alot of people have
Fffffffffff CC ççx CDC
Return to serenity is the best solo created by mankind
And a dirge(musical death) another skolnick masterpiece
Alex Skolnick is one of my favourite shredders and Return Of Serenity's solo is a masterpiece by itself but none solo created by other than David Gilmour can transmit so many emotions like Comfortably Numb (Pulse version 1994)
so fucking GOOOOD!
Necrophagist solos as well
Skolnick’s main solo from the ballad The Legacy; now that’s a solo.
Man, fantastic job.
Hey Angel!
thank you for playing the most underrated album ever, souls of black.
Who would rate this with a thumb-down??? That's is maybe the best ever presentation of the best ever thrash solos!
I can't believe this vid doesn't have millions of views. I've been coming back to it every now and then just to listen to all my fav solos in one place!
I Believe Mr. Skolnick is impressed , I am .
The following is a list of all of the mistakes during this video,
.
LMAO - I know, right?
Goddamn, nice work kid. I grew up on the 80s REAL metal scene and it's awesome to see Alex's talent inspiring to this day. Awesome. You're a damn good player who i think captures the essence of what Alex was trying to convey with his solos. Alex's solos to me were like "songs within songs", where they had their own beginning, middle, end, it's own inherent movement, while doing nothing but adding depth and intellect to the overall song. I personally believe Alex Skolnick is one of the finest hard rock / heavy metal / thrash players to ever sling a guitar around his neck.
150% correct about "songs within songs" , i feel sadly the rest of the band was just not up to par with his talent.
I'm surprised that your guitar didn't just catch fire! That's jut too much heat played consecutively! Most people wait 4-5 minutes between Skolnick solos.
Awesome work! :)
You are awesome, and have achieved the greatness of Skolnick
skolnick is my role model since 1988 , great playing , you nailed it , very talented .excellent
oh God bless your hands, Jarle... you're so talented and very handsome either... ❤
Cool ! I had a tape in my walkman where i had cut all Skolnick solos together like that. Yeehaw to good memories ;)

Dude ... you are awesome!
Impressive guitar playing 👌🤘🏿
That's some flawless playing. Love sweep picking and legato..Perfect technique! I've been playing 25 years and although I'm good, I make mistakes, you don't seem to. The les Paul sounds better than the Carvin.
Wicked playing man... 👏👏👏🎸🎸🎸
Possibly the best recommendation I've ever gotten from youtube!! Sublime playing throughout, you really nail that Skolnick tone and phrasing, amazing job sir!
2 years late though.
@@davorbrijacak the passage of time cannot diminish his talent.
@@sweeptapper I agree, it's just that YT algorithm is obviously weird, this should have been recommended ages ago so the guy could get more exposure, he deserves it. Such flawless cover of Alex Skolnick requires much attention; just like you said, great tone, especially phrasing, done clean, really showcases how incredible these solos are. I'm tired of getting recommendations of generic funny guitar videos, or generic covers/analysis of overrated Kirk Hammett solos/Metallica songs.
@@davorbrijacak Totally agrre bro, I was shocked to find out how old his vids were and why i had never heard of him at all! His album has been on repeat ever since!
Very, very well done! A real tribute to a Master (Monster)
The Ritual, Agony, Absence of Light, Seven Days of May? All these criminally underrated solos! I love it!
My favorite lead guitarist. You nailed it.
Fun to watch !! Don’t forget Eric Peterson !!!!
Who
@@gauravs295 The guy who wrote most of the songs for Testament.
We've forgotten him already.
HOLY SHIT..Im gonna watch this again and again. NAILED IT.

Excellent. Clean, pro-level playing. Thank you for sharing your hard work with us!
Awesome vid mate! Really enjoyed it
Funny that I always thought the best Testament solos Alex did were on Souls of Black and The Ritual and this tribute is from these two albums. I love his work on other albums also - specially on the first album, but Souls of Black and Ritual solos are something else
Thank you for this pearl and for doing sound justice to the guitarist who was and will be a revolutionary of the harmony within the heavy. I greet you from Argentina
Killer job dude! Very impressive!

This could not have been easy, but damn you make it look like it is. You have a unique fretting hand position for such a high level player, very talented mate and thanks for such an amazing video.
Brilliant 🤘
Been a fan of Testament since the 80s. You went through one hell of a work out on this one! Great job!
This has to be so much fun! Thanks for sharing!
Skolnick is so good in what he does! And you nailed his solos.
Amazing! Skolnick is one of my main influences as well. Great job!

Impressionante. Meus solos favoritos, seguidos assim, um após o outro, sem cortes. Muito incrível!

Awesome Jarle! TestAmenT is my fave band of all time and you're really doing these solos justice. I hope to see another tribute with solos from Practice and New Order soon.
