A few thoughts (after 6 years with a Helmsman 43):
Hard top - I like it, looks great and a good place for solar.
No side decks- there is no way I would give up the full beam saloon and associated extra living space. The lack of side decks has not limited us in any way, and that includes 1,000 hours of cruising, hundreds of days on different mooring balls and anchoring, in and out of marinas, and often solo.
Forward rake pilot house windows - they work, and look sharp like the old school trawlers these boats get their pedigree from.

Wonderful boats! A good move going to the hard top on the 43. Love the double wide transom doors- when sitting in the cockpit it feels like you’re sitting at the water’s edge.
