Such a humble guy. He is one of the godfathers of Aussie pop and rock, yet you wouldn't know him from an average bloke walking down the street.
Legend is an understatement.
Harry is an inspiration, a gifted performer and songwriter thanks for the posting !!
arno799 It’s so cool that he gave Malcolm young his very first Gretsch jet Firebird., so therefore he made a AC/DC that easy beats were awesome as well.
arno799 he’s Vet underestimated ! He should be up there with Angus !!!!! I love my Angus! And I love Harry’s work with the easybeat, and I know he gave Malcolm his first Gretsch.
Hugely successful and massively under appreciated
Oh God. Translate? Harry talks about his time in the Easybeats and it was a lot of hard work (The Easybeats were very popular in Holland). Its not as glamorous as you would think. Harry's attitude towards everything was 'what you see is what you get'. Harry is very down to earth & unpretentious. He talks about being in a hostel with Scottish and English people and he played in the laundry. As for ACDC, of course, Angus was the younger brother of his co-writer George and they were their mentors.
He knew, and still knows it’s a long way to the top if you wanna rock and roll…
This came back as a memory on FB, i so love to see it back, Harry is so humble, but so great, his partner is a brother from the ACDC's brothers!
I loved Flash and the Pan.. they rocked... Down among the dead men and Hey St Peter were classics...
Harry has always been a nice guy.
great energy. he's the coolest .
So good - love this man.
Is he the guy that did that wicked lick on Friday on my mind? Nobody has beaten that sound.on covers
Yes He did
He also played some of the most underrated guitar solos ever on Flash and the Pan songs such as Hey Jimmy, Yesterday's Gone, Hard Livin', Bones, Only the Bad Survive or Searching for a Headline...
Harry Vanda love❤️
Harry Vanda is a dead set legend.
He's a nice, no nonsense guy ...
GEWELDIG,HAD ER WEL BIJ WILLEN ZIJN.
Why doesn't anyone mentions ...Flash and the Pan????Together with George Young ( eldest of Angus and Malcolm AC/DC )
Waarom heeft niemand het over Flash and the Pan? Hey St Peter, Waiting for a Train, Down among the dead men, Ayla....
So tall and leggy. I notice in old clips of the Easybeats, he seems to stoop a little so he doesn't tower over the diminutive members of the band !
its true, i think a lot of men in Holland are tall, no one knows why though.
The Youngs weren't exactly giants physically!
Fantastic ..saw the Easybeats in the 60s such great music ....
I envy you!
I also envy you.
Harry still can play (well in this time period)
Such an icon of Aussie music. Harry was my first crush - sigh!
He has lived in Australia an awful long time, to the point his Dutch is a bit rusty and heavily accented. :D
His Dutch is fine and his accent is western Dutch, as spoken in and around Den Haag
@@ralfybaby Absoluut !!
He must reflect at times we all do
The third great dutch guitarist from the 'Van' family ;)
Yeah, subtitles please? (: He's actually cute like before. :P
Can Hank play Harry’s. tune “Friday on my mind”
Respect! Diep respect!
Subtitles needed BADLY.
What are the names of the two instrumental songs, please?
Apache, possibley FBI , maybe Kontiki or Frighetend City.
Is he speaking Dutch? He seems like a down to earth guy like Angus Young.
Ja. het is nederlands.
It's his first language
Yes Harry was always a nice guy we used to play at the same venue at Balmin in Sydney called Havana Village in 1965 my band 'The Pleazers' were actually billed above them at the time. Fantastic times
Denis Gilmore Seems so from this.
His pal's gone now. :/
David Andrews I know, so sad. And what is really sad is Malcolm passed away a month after. Poor Angus.
Harry Vander you are the best , can you get Dick, Gordan back to Australia and do a show 🎤🎼🎸❤
Dood?
Any translation? I'm an aussie not a dutchman!
You guys know how to honour your foreign heroes ... RocKwiz did a V&Y special.... sweet!
robdotcom71 I speak Dutch but yeah you’d think they have subtitles or something!
💞
thanks AntipodeanStar
Nie.
He was married to my Aunt when he was young. So guess he is my Uncle lol or ex Uncle..
At 2:45 did he mention Angus Young?and at 0:24 did he mention Geezer Butler of Black Sabbath?
@@Hanzey1966 oke echt? Mijn Oma was Nederlands so I understood most of it .
@@Hanzey1966 yes I already know, my mother is Scottish She knew the young brothers when they were kids. Just playing at a local park with them. That’s what she told me, I don’t know the whole story.
Maar goed , consider it ,,Not Written,, and Removed
My goodness, he coulda got a better band....sheesh.
Vanda has big feet
corresponds to big co
Sounds unrehearsed and awkward
Spontaneous. Diiferent notes to Hank.
Harry's no Hank Marvin.
