Dizzy Fae, age 20, is a queer Black interdisciplinary artist interrogating the nuances and liberties of love and human connection in an ever-expanding world. In the vocal medium, the St. Paul-raised musician operates to forward the context of pop with a strong root in the traditions of R&B. Calling upon the future-facing electronic impulses of Minnesota-based Psymun and Alec Ness (fka su na), Dizzy frolics through the fringes, laying her observations bare with a burning confidence as she attempts to unearth the unknown from within. She exudes an aura of fun, of cockiness, of a respect that will be commanded if it’s unmatched by default. And when she struggles, she refuses to compromise herself or lose her soul.
Dizzy’s ascended rapidly from her 2016 SoundCloud debut “Color Me Bad” that ended up a World First record via Zane Lowe on Beats1. She released her debut mixtape Free Form in 2018, earning her the opportunity to support sold-out tours with Lizzo and Toro y Moi, and sell out two hometown shows in Minneapolis as well as her debut London headliner.
Now comes NO GMO: true to its namesake, Dizzy Fae unravels herself in a new pursuit of the real, the organic. Enlisting Psymun and Alec Ness once more, with contributions from Falls, Sir Dylan, and Kim Tee, NO GMO carries a bright, bouncy immediacy as Dizzy evolves even further into her convictions as a lover and a fighter. What of the truths that go unsaid? When is right now enough, and when has one had enough? What’s the fallout when the consequences of diving deeper into love no longer prevail over the satisfaction on the horizon? NO GMO chronicles the negotiation of these questions through empowerment slaps, bops of agency, casting shame by the wayside as Dizzy owns her desires and snatches life by the edges.
