  • I've had to reupload this on here, sorry for the loss of comments. This is (was) a very rare soundtrack as it has never been officially released. I was able to find a version ripped from the original dvd over a decade ago by a user on a final fantasy forum (which has now been deleted), on an arabic language archive download site . Enjoy

    I'm highly intrigued by the cover art. The hollow caskets where there should be eyes. The blood red forehead, seemingly skinless, revealing a disturbed soul. Combined with the neutral glare of the succesful business man. This is what Patrick Bateman would look like if his looks revealed his inner self: completely dissolved. Like a bag of shards, kept together by the tightness of his suit. Eerie, really eerie.

    “There are no more barriers to be crossed. All I have in common with the uncontrollable and the insane, the vicious and the evil. All the mayhem I have caused and my utter indifference towards it, I have now surpassed. My pain is constant and sharp and I do not hope for a better world for anyone. In fact, I want my pain to be inflicted on others. I want no one to escape. But even after admitting this, there is no catharsis. My punishment continues to elude me. And I gain no deeper knowledge of myself. No new knowledge can be extracted from my telling. This confession has meant nothing”

  • @ForARide
    @ForARide Před rokem +7

    John Cale born 1942 in Garnant/Wales, started playing piano aged six, joined the Welsh Youth Orchestra aged 14, learned several other instruments such as the viola. Late 50's and early 60's Cale studied music at Goldsmith's College in London, to then emigrate to the US in 1963 on a Leonard Bernstein scholarship. Worked with avantgarde luminaries John Cage, La Monte Young and Yannis Xenakis. Bumped into Lou Reed late 1964 to form The Velvet Underground and was mainly responsible for their then revolutionary sound, adding classical and avantgarde elements and sounds to the band, such as the droning viola. After been kicked out of the Velvets in 1968 after their second album White Light/White Heat, Cale went on to arrange and produce Nico's album triology The Marbe Index, Desertshore and The End, laying the foundation of what was later to become goth. Furthermore he produced the debuts by The Stooges, Patti Smith and The Modern Lovers, all to become milestones in the making of punk. Since leaving the Velvets Cale has released more than 30 albums, including several soundtracks ranging from rock to pop, classical to experimental or electronica to punk. Cale has no musical limits and is easily one of the most versatile musicians who has ever walked this earth. The term genius is often used in an inflationary way, but in his case it is spot on. There is only ONE John Cale!

    Right, recently when watching it again I said Jeezis John Cale did the music, because it was in the opening credits. I thought, wow, this movie is in itself it's own dynamic masterpiece - because it's nothing like the book - but I watch it a couple times a year and read the book every once in awhile too - separate. They're both great and because Ellis was the topic, very eighties and I love the eighties. This soundtrack is so very good it should have been released with other stuff as a record, strange that it wasn't. Puts me in the mood to bribe the man at Dorsia to get a table or take him out into the alley if he doesn't comply.

I think the best part is the morning ritual track, a song so relaxing, most people probably don't feel creeped out by it. But they should! Because it's not just about how well he takes care of himself. It's also about how he only cares about material things and is later going to be shown killing people!

      @@CamMciJohn Cale is a classically trained musician, he started learning the piano aged six, joined the Welsh Youth Orchestra aged fourteen learning several instruments, among them his trademark viola. In the early 60s Cale studied musicology at Goldsmith's Collage in London and emmigrated to the US in 1963 on a Leonard Bernstein scholarship where he would work under the guidance of avant-garde luminaries John Cage, LaMonte Young and Iannis Xenakis. In late 64 Cale bumped into Lou Reed, forming the Velvet Underground and being their main creative force behind their then revolutionary and groundbreaking sound. John Cale is easily one, if not the most versatile musician(s) ever to have walked this planet.
      Musical genius isn't even enough to describe this mans musical talent!
