Okay i get why a lot of people dislike this fight scene, its clear Cecep and Yayan are on another level, but Keanu only started doing martial arts in his 30s when the Matrix movies come out. I also think the choreography reflects this pretty well, John realizes there's no way he'll match them for speed or technique so he resorts to grappling and keeping them off their feet as much as he can. He capitalizes on his larger frame by using his reach to keep them off of him and his weight to slam into them

When I watched John Wick 2, there was a woman who was so shocked at the scene when John killed two assassins with pencil. And later she just couldn't take it any more and had to quit accompanied by her boyfriend. That scene can be traumatic for people especially female who are not suitable for gore and hardcore violent theme.

I remember that I was on a holiday with my family to travel in Jakarta, Indonesia and my mom were planning to watch John Wick with my dad at the cinema. She couldn't invite me and my sister with them since it's an adult movie so my sister and I just stay at the hotel room, just watching CZcams with the hotel's wifi. When I turn 19, I later find out that Cecep Arif Rahman is Indonesian and was happy to see an amazing Indonesian celebrity on John Wick movie. I'm actually half-indonesian. I'm glad to see people in the same nationality as me appear on the movies and even understand what he and Yayan said since they spoke Indonesian language.

It looks like realistic fight. Wick is so much bigger than them, so he use lock and throwing. Remember, they both might be small, but fast af, so playing offensive is a no go.
Just to let you know, Keanu has a legit martial art background (not as good as Cecep of course) and I would bet both of the Indonesia actors would not do so well against somebody who is bigger and also has legit martial arts background like Michael Jai White or Scott Adkins. So from the story point of view, somebody who got the skills of wick with a considerable size advantage, possibly can beat them.

In the raid the fights look more intense due to the framing, in this movie the frame was more still compared to the raid which is why it look awkward, because still frame can't really hide the delay that will happen due to the choreography, plus the size difference between the actors are really apparent so that doesn't help

Mungkin kalo ada yang penasaran kenapa ini jatohnya kaya' friendly match, ada setidaknya 2 alasan: 1. Mereka tu fanboys-nya John Wick 2. Mereka cuma anak buahnya Zero, sedangkan Zero sebelumnya sempet bilang, "cuma aku yang boleh membunuhmu". Jadi Kang Yayan dan Kang Cecep tugasnya buat bikin John capek doang, biar bisa dikalahin Zero.
Three things I like about this 1. A real martial artist will want to beat an opponent at his best. Sure in combat you want to really hurt them bad or even kill them. But you want to do it while they are competently fighting you back. So in sparring sessions, you allow your opponent to warm up. If they have a previous injury, you either postpone the whole thing, or you make an agreement not to capitalize on the injured area. Otherwise you'd be a real pussy. 2. In this fight, the size and height advantage does not necessarily pay any significant advantage because there are 2 opponents, and they are quicker and more agile. Smaller and more agile opponents who keep moving are difficult to hit. Look at Pacquiao vs the bigger guys he fought. Especially Margarito. 3. Yes John is supposed to win, but not by outstriking them. As you can see, they do not even make Keanu's punches and kicks look fancy as compared to the two little guys. He is slower, and older (and they address this) so he has to use more grappling techniques to subdue their movement. Keanu is trained in many martial arts, but he is humble enough to admit that at his age he really could not do all that Jackie Chan stuff anymore. And that is what gives the fight a more realistic feel to it
In perception by the movie, the two lose to John Wick first they underestimated him, second John used his size as advantage in the end. But in real life, I see those two have incredible speed and technique to quickly end the fight against Wick. Noticed many openings and holding backs
Thats yayan Ruhian and Cecip from both Raid films and Merantau etc. Indonesian chaps that started their own stunt and choreography classes and ended up in films. they are top level Pengkat Silat practioners

He worked as an English teacher in elementary school before becoming an actor. This fight scene was totally spoiled by the incredibly slow and wooden movements of Keanu lol... you can literally see them waiting for his moves mid-action...
@@arthurmorgan2887 I know he is slowing down, but guys like Jet Li, Jackie Chan, Jason Statham, Tom Cruise or Mark Dacascos (chef baldie in Parabellum) are his age or older than him and move way better. I think it has more to do with proper conditioning and exercising than with age, Keanu isn't working out well enough to pull these scenes as flawlessly as he could.

Mungkin kalo ada yang penasaran kenapa ini jatohnya kaya' friendly match, ada setidaknya 2 alasan:
1. Mereka tu fanboys-nya John Wick
2. Mereka cuma anak buahnya Zero, sedangkan Zero sebelumnya sempet bilang, "cuma aku yang boleh membunuhmu".
Jadi Kang Yayan dan Kang Cecep tugasnya buat bikin John capek doang, biar bisa dikalahin Zero.
Three things I like about this
1. A real martial artist will want to beat an opponent at his best. Sure in combat you want to really hurt them bad or even kill them. But you want to do it while they are competently fighting you back. So in sparring sessions, you allow your opponent to warm up. If they have a previous injury, you either postpone the whole thing, or you make an agreement not to capitalize on the injured area. Otherwise you'd be a real pussy.
2. In this fight, the size and height advantage does not necessarily pay any significant advantage because there are 2 opponents, and they are quicker and more agile. Smaller and more agile opponents who keep moving are difficult to hit. Look at Pacquiao vs the bigger guys he fought. Especially Margarito.
3. Yes John is supposed to win, but not by outstriking them. As you can see, they do not even make Keanu's punches and kicks look fancy as compared to the two little guys. He is slower, and older (and they address this) so he has to use more grappling techniques to subdue their movement. Keanu is trained in many martial arts, but he is humble enough to admit that at his age he really could not do all that Jackie Chan stuff anymore. And that is what gives the fight a more realistic feel to it
Yayan is only 4 years younger than Keanu, though…
Keanu cant keep up. Slow movement and the other actors somehow look like waiting.

In perception by the movie, the two lose to John Wick first they underestimated him, second John used his size as advantage in the end.
But in real life, I see those two have incredible speed and technique to quickly end the fight against Wick. Noticed many openings and holding backs
Thats yayan Ruhian and Cecip from both Raid films and Merantau etc. Indonesian chaps that started their own stunt and choreography classes and ended up in films. they are top level Pengkat Silat practioners
Well partically if john wick have his guns or pencil these scene would last in 20 seconds lol john is good at guns but kung fu or martial arts not much but these guys are very dangerous wick knows it so he grabs his belt to tie there hands

1. Cecep Arif Rahman and Yayan Ruhian, who appear as Shinobi 1 and Shinobi 2 respectively, revealed in an interview that their Indonesian dialogue during their fight with John Wick in the glass structure was not in the script. Director Chad Stahelski thought that since the fight is quite long and consists of several rounds, it might be good to have them talk to each other between rounds and he also insisted that the dialogue be in Indonesian. After the fight, Keanu Reeves suggested that John Wick say something like a farewell phrase to the Shinobi duo in Indonesian language, as John Wick in all three movies is depicted as able to understand and speak multiple languages, at least casual conversation. Reeves then asked them, how to say "See you" in Indonesian. Cecep and Yayan said that in Indonesian it would be something like "Sampai jumpa," so Keanu then practiced before the shooting how to pronounce the phrase in Indonesian correctly.
2. The weapon used by Yayan Ruhian and Cecep Arif Rahman is called a Karambit, originally a weapon from the Minangkabau heritage in Indonesia.
3. In the original script, John Wick defeated the Ninja Warriors Shinobi #1 (Cecep Arif Rahman) and Shinobi #2 (Yayan Ruhian) and then killed them both. But when practicing the fighting scene, Keanu Reeves was so impressed with the duo's Silat fighting style that he asked director Chad Stahelski to change the script so that John Wick would just defeat them but let them live and they say "See you" to each other. This would give the chance (and hint) for the scriptwriters in the future to bring back the Shinobi duo if needed. Director Chad Stahelski agreed to Keanu's request and altered the fight scene as seen in the final cut.
4. Cecep Arif Rahman and Yayan Ruhian, who played the Shinobi Duo, in real life are real martial arts masters of Indonesian Pencak Silat fighting style. When they don't have acting jobs, they teach self-defense to the Indonesian Army Special Forces Unit, the Kopassus.
5. Cecep Arif Rahman speaks fluent English. He worked as an English teacher in elementary school before becoming an actor. Rahman translated the spontaneous Indonesian dialogue during the glass room scene so the director and crew could understand it.
This fight scene was totally spoiled by the incredibly slow and wooden movements of Keanu lol... you can literally see them waiting for his moves mid-action...

I think it has more to do with proper conditioning and exercising than with age, Keanu isn't working out well enough to pull these scenes as flawlessly as he could.

*This scene was really good... but the only problem is that I've seen these 2 actors in "The Raid" movies, and it kind of ruined it knowing these guys were only going at like 60% so Keanu Reeves could keep up. These guys were nuts in The Raid 2... They would seriously fuck anybody up.*
