Apes are the most intelligent animals and are therefore susceptible to mental illness.
Environmental enrichment is a measure to reduce mental and physical stress and lead a happy life from the standpoint of apes, not from the convenience and emotions of human beings.

I’m glad you were there to save her! She looked so weak. If she had caught a cold virus or some other minor illness it probably would have killed her. I’m glad that you took action but also that the director listened and intervened. Nice work!! ❤

すっかり健康的な元のチェリーに戻って本当に良かったです❤研究所さんの市長への直談判が無ければ今のチェリーは居なかったはずです！頭が下がるばかりです！愚かな動物園の多い事に驚きました！飼育員さんと獣医がいれば安心だと思っていましたが大間違いでしたね外部の人が目を光らせて居ないと間違いにも気づけないのですから😂人間は間違える生き物ですから間違えた時には潔く認めて最初から出直して欲しい！大内山の園長は園長の鏡ですね！チェリー、チコ、ジュンの元気な様子を見せてくれてありがとうございました😊
誰だって間違いはあります。間違いを認めたくない気持ちもわからなくはないですが、生き物を扱う仕事をしている人間は、つねに謙虚で研究熱心で、正しいか間違っているかを確認しながら仕事をしなければならないと思います。
ものが壊れれば買い替えればいいですが、生き物はその個体が唯一無二です。そこが他の仕事と違うところです。✨
大内山の園長に指摘された飼育員も、ちゃんと反省し、さらに知識を上げようと努力しているのがわかります。
そのうえで事故があるのであれば、私も致し方ないと思えるかもしれません。

Thank you GAZ for the footage, the updates and the good news! All of them look much-much better now than a few months ago, they have healthy and shining fur, lively and clear eyes, they show interest in their environment and curiosity to forage, they interact, and generally are in a 100% better shape. I couldn't be happier! You and your co-patriot one-way do a tremendous job for the improvement of these chimps' lives. I deeply admire the dedication to this mission and the compassion for the apes you both represent on youtube. I wish both of you (and other Japanese animal lovers) lots of energy and faith to keep going on because you are the voice of Jun, Cherry, Furt - and countless other chimpanzees in need.

What a filthy small enclosure
チェリーさん何とか体調良くなってきたようでほっとしました。市長さんに手紙まで書いてくださったんですね。チコさんはしっかりしてて、ジュースに集中。ジュンさんとチコさんチェリーさんがお互い毛づくろいするような関係になるといいですね。
大森山のルイちゃんは忘れられないですね。
何のために太らせていたのか・・・
亡くなったあと動物園側が用意した献花台と写真が展示してあるのをネットで見たのですが、消防ホースのフィーダー持ってるルイちゃんの写真に「スナイパールイ」とかコメントが書いてありました。
こんなに若い子が亡くなるのは異例でとてもショックなことなのに、冗談みたいなことを書きそえる余裕があるのに個人的にびっくりしてしまいました。
大森山のコタロウさんは優しくて好きなチンプさんですが、大森山自体はもうチンパンジーの繁殖には手を出さないでほしいと思ってます。
旭山はヒグマのことを自分ごととして考えてと世間に訴えてますが、まずは自分の動物園のチンパンジーたちのことを自分ごとと思ってほしいですね・・・
長々とすみません。
何年もの間、真っ暗な世界で一人放置されたルイが哀れでなりません。
ルイ不健康な生活をさせていたのは、全国のチンプと比較してもはっきりわかります。
ヒグマも宣伝活動の一環でしょう。
旭山園長、インスタライブで「野生で母を人間に殺されたオランウータンのみなしごの赤ちゃん会ったら、悲しくて大好きなカップラーメンが食べられなくなった」とかいってました。フルトの赤ちゃんを自分で殺しておいて何をいわんやです。・・・と怒ってます。
ボルネオの恩返しとか、手間のかからないPR活動ばかりが目立ちます。

同じチェリーとは思えませんでした。体格はしっかりもとにもどり、ジュンもしっかりした感じです。
チェリーは、不安を解消するためか、チコの後ばかりついてましたが、食べ物がたくさんあったのでチェリーらしさも出てました。
食べ物なくしては、チェリーは生きる意味を失ってしまいます。

Thank you for getting involved by contacting the Mayor to intervene in Cherry’s health issues and safeguarding the rest of the chimpanzees from facing what would have been a terrible tragedy of zookeepers not having enough knowledge to know how they should be cared for and what food is better for them. Your are an amazing person and advocate for these wonderful and intelligent creatures that can’t speak up for themselves. You have most definitely saved and changed their lives hopefully for a long time to come, massive respect ✊ and thank you for being there for Cherry and the other primates.

This zoo doesnt deserve any great apes, it would of been better for jun to come to tama and stay with kei, but tama is on a western chimps only kick .. many years i wrote on behalf of getting mates for jun. Never imagined that 2 of my beloved tama chimps were gonna live in hell with him, so sad

動物を飼育していると常に正解が導き出せるかは分かりません。時に失敗で動物が亡くなってしまう事はあります。
しかし早く軌道修正出来るような柔軟で謙虚な姿勢で臨みたいと改めて気付かせていただく動画でした。感謝いたします。
また動物園の現場で動物に対して、どう対処すべきかの情報共有がさらに深まる事を期待したいと思います。
同じ動物でも個体が異なれば予想外のことが起こると思いますし
生物ですから間違いが発生することは当たり前だと思ってます。
ミスを認めて方針転換ができるかどうか、おっしゃる通り柔軟で謙虚な思考が動物福祉の根本だと思います。

研究所さん、お疲れ様でした。という言葉では不適切かもしれないけど、よかったですね。聞く耳を持った人がいたから、研究所さんの直訴が実ったんですね。なんでチェリーが痩せてるのか不思議でしたが、まさか食事の量が足りてなかったとは。。ジュンも食べっぷりが以前と変わって見えました。これもチコ&チェリーのおかげですね。モートに下りるとき、手すりみたいな物があったらいいのに。でも、これからも目が離せませんね。いつ、どこで、どんな虐待が起こるかわからんのですから。気を引き締めていこうと思います。→お前は何もやってないよ💢って、研究所さんの心の声が聞こえそうw。

OH MY GOSH!!!! I want to cry. This is the MOST horrible zoo. Please, Dear God, do something to help these beautiful primates get to a better environment. The chimps at Tama Zoo are sooooo much happier. I'm torn between hating Tama Zoo for letting Cherry and Chico go and loving them for the way they treat their chimps.

私が会いに行った３月も、筋肉が削ぎ落ちガリガリでお腹だけポッコリでした。
チコが、自分の手に持ってる朝食をチェリーに手渡しで分け与える行動に驚いたのを忘れません。多摩っ子でこの行動は信じられませんでした…親子でもないのに…しかもチコです、ペコママ以外のメンバーに干渉することが少なかったし…ボスにも挨拶しないチコが！そんなチコも、弱ってるチェリーを助けたい一心での行動なのかなと思いました😢
ジュンの、フェイントだけの優しいディスプレイ良いですね👍️

一人暮らしの時はジッと座ってることが多かったですが、３人になってよく動くようになったからでしょうか？

多摩の環境とは縦にも横にも大幅に縮小された環境…どんな些細なことでも思い付く改善はどんどん進めていただきたいです。
ルイちゃんのように明らかに異常なのに後回しにされ、10歳にして命を落とすなんて…二度とおきてはいけない過ちです。
旭山にいたっては問題外。動物たちを守るべき立場なのに、一切を放棄し、虐待を繰り返す。非人道的であり、動物たちへのリスペクトが全くありません。
旭山園長が京都市動物園へ来るとか…旭山から学ぶことなんて何もありませんけどね…😒
体毛フッサフサの京都チンプ見て、自分とこのチンプはなぜ脱毛症が多いんだ？と疑問に思うことすらないんでしょうねっ😠💢

If you take any living thing out of their comfort zone and drastically change their life over night like that, they need TIME to adapt to their new environment. Cherry was not well and she was going to die if they didn't take action. I'm not a fan of cherry bomb but that was terrible. You definitely saved her life. And you're exactly right, The Keepers are what determine the health of the captive animals they're taking care of. It is up to THEM and ONLY THEM to see and understand the correct ways and incorrect ways to raise living things and get them the proper diets and tender loving care they NEED DAY IN AND DAY OUT. Thank you for everything you've done and everything you continue to do for these fascinating apes! ❤️

私達の声を聞いて動いて下さる市長もおられるのですね。
市によってこれほど違うのかと驚きました。
何度もコメントしていますが、専門的な知識を持った方に飼育して頂きたいです。
そして何より動物に対して愛情を持っている方に。
痛々しい姿の動物を見ても何とも思わない方が飼育されているのかと悲しい気持ちになる事が多々あります。
大切な命をお預かりしているという意識を常に持ってお世話して頂きたいです。

私はもう心が折れていますが、それでも研究所さんに励まされています。
「この映像を見てください。」とチェリーの比較映像を見てもらったのは一つあると思います。
誰が見ても痩せこけて気力がないのはわかると思います。
一般人でも視認できるまで悪化していたので説得力があったのかもしれません。
それを飼育員人ではなく、複数名の飼育員がわからないというのですから理解に苦しみます。
ここまでひどい状況だと動物知識なんていらないレベルだと思うんですが・・・なぜわからないのか不思議です。
しかも「チェリーは太っている」って、１００人中１００人がそのように思わないと思うんですが。ありがとうございます。

Jun's mother is already dead. Since Jun is always relying on Chiko, I thought of him as a baby.
This is sad to watch. This is the reason why most other countries won't send animals to Japan.

man i think you are opening bery slowly the pandora box,and you should gatter some power behind you to help exposing these people and their mistakes,negliance is still a mistake,where i come from we have our cousins only in zoo,if an APE dies because of their mistake they are facing a murder charge,because of the hige amount of same DNA we dont call them animals,just our cousins,so if they kill an APE they kill a licing person,period,expose fhem

That's what the great Bonbons mama supposed to look like, could you imagine if they would've sent Bonbon there and he looked as malnourished as Cherry did?
Is there any positive interactions between these 3 chimps? I've seen occasional reassurance but no grooming or playing. It makes me think that they are unhappy.
They still eat like they're starving to death they don't sit enjoyed our food they just engulf it and beg for more something's still not right even though I admire you for getting these people to start treating these animals with some respect and dignity I still don't like this environment that therein especially indoor prison cell.

自分も動物園側に飼育方法の改善を訴えたいですね、大胆な事は出来ないとしても、採食時間を少しずつ多くするとか、何かしら工夫して、暇な時間をあまり作らないようにしないと・・・いけないと動画を見てて思いました。
あと一歩遅かったらチェリーはこの世にいなかったと思ってます。JAZAにも要望したり、圧力をかけて考え方、行動を変えていきたいと思います。

Considering the chimpanzees' health, Tama Zoo feeds chimpanzees with fewer calories than other zoos in Japan.
For example, Tama doesn't give them fruit.
Hamamatsu City Zoo used to look like it had too few calories than Tama, but now I think it has more calories than Tama.
Therefore, I feel that their bodies are solid.
I think Tama should have a little more calories. However, I do not know myself whether my guess is right or wrong.
Thank you for the work you do and restoring in saving Cherry’s life. We all appreciate your work and your efforts so much to improve these chimps lives. We are greatful for your help.
Even if Tama doesn’t feed as much as the other zoos, it’s still a lot and much more than chimps in the wild and I think it’s more a healthy balance. Experts say captive chimps in zoos typically weigh more than wild chimps because 1) they always have daily source of food all the time and 2) because they’re less active being in small enclosure and not walking for miles with the lack of exercise….Whereas wild chimps can go stretches (days/week) with little to no food during the dry season in the summer and also are more active in walking miles daily to look for food which burns their calories. So if anything , I think Tama not feeding them more than other zoos is actually the right thing. Many of the chimpanzees I see in zoos are fed way too much which is not healthy for them.
