      I have a 99 also... yeah.. that frame is GLUED IN!!... but, I got the replacement glass off Amazon... I guess I’ll try removing the glass off the frame and then popping it into place... that would be sweet if that works..
      Didn’t want to have to heat up/cut thru that urethane... stuff is too strong ... could mess up the metal frame.. etc, etc..
      I’ll try and see if this works

  • @therealeugeneshepherd4129

    I know how to install these windows with the frame you just unscrew the screws that are behind the panel and then carefully cut through the urethane. Then you got to peel all the urethane off of the metal and clean it up real good with acetone let it dry then you get some urethane from your local automotive store and boil it in hot water in a pan in the kitchen once it's been in there for 15 or 20 minutes it'll be more than soft enough to stick in your regular caulking gun and you squirt a bead all the way around the perimeter of where the old urethane was stick your frame and your glass all at once in the opening with the glass latched and then you apply the three screws and you should put some blue or green frog tape around the outside of the window so it doesn't shift if you immediately have to use your truck if you can afford to wait overnight you're better off then you put your door panel on.

      Thank you we went to pick n pull today after our 2007 siera hd 2500 slt back drverside window fell out and broke. I had seen it was going to and didn't know what else to do to hold window into frame once the thing was broken but I had truck that day and had to do something to save it from filling out so I bungie corded it from bottom inside and across to passenger side headrest stilts. It worked until son had truckvtok it off and sure enough it fell out. Nevertheless the coverage here doesn't include the 2007 only to 2006. An you are right there is barely any info on those push out windows. Research cones back on everything but clarity on compatibility, models with power windows switch replacement for electric window even punching in what we know about truck comes back with nothing but 31 model trim types is ridiculously inacurate as far as we were concerned. Ours is a 5th wheel hauler we got our window from a 2006 hd2500 Sierra but it was a bear to get out and was glued in to frame which got left there because ours is still in truck. Now we can see if it will work on guessing there was another reason it felt out from frame.
      Nevertheless you are definitely hitting a glacier for consumes not finding research at all

    My truck was stolen a few months ago what they did was pry that window off and broke the thing on the window that connects it to that hinge or whatever it connected to. Window is fine but the guy who does my auto glass said I needed to buy a brand new rear window, I was wondering if I could use clear silicone or sealant for now, it’s attached by tape at the moment and it makes my truck look raggedy, it also starts sagging down after a while cause the high temperatures we have in south texas

    • @ifscottcanyoucan
      @ifscottcanyoucan  Před 2 lety

      I personally think you would be better off getting a new window that has the plastic piece still attached at a salvage yard. A weak adhesive might not hold the window in place and a stronger one may leave damage behind.

    I have to watch this a couple more times because that's just too darn easy and I don't want to break good glass. Popping it in there with a "tech bump" is one thing but "tech bumping" it out is my new dilemma. And I'm skeered LOL

    • @CORYJOHNM
      @CORYJOHNM Před 4 lety

      It's not aggreeing. I think that the frame in the door is trapping it from opening enough to pop off. Now popping in on may not be as critical.

    • @ifscottcanyoucan
      @ifscottcanyoucan  Před 4 lety +1

      Make sure you disconnect the closer. I never had to pop the old one out because it shattered. If you open the window and push the whole thing up you may have better luck.

    • @CORYJOHNM
      @CORYJOHNM Před 4 lety

      Removing good glass seems be be a different monster. I'd rather tug on a juckyard truck than mine. It looks so easy when it opened all the way and released itself. The door itself is keeping the window from opening further and I think that binds up the hinge. I will win though because thick black sign vinyl will go there.

      It is not possible to convert the rear window on this generation of truck to power. It is possible to convert manual roll down windows to power with a kit that is available from most aftermarket suppliers.

      I don't know of a guarantee but I can tell you I have had mine foe 4 years and it does a great job of keeping the water out. I sometimes get a little water near the tailgate.

      They don't make a rear window and frame for a 94 Sierra? Try a junkyard. You could install it yourself or take the part to a mechanic.
