We went around to our local stores and found 15 different meatless vegan turkey alternatives for the holidays. (Plus one sent to us)
Of course we had to put them through our taste test and see which ones are best! They ranged from 9 minutes cook time to an 2 1/2 hours and ranged in price from $5 to $60

Do you have a favorite?
Haven’t watched yet- but I don’t eat any faux meats- they usually have ingredients I can’t pronounce- then when I look them up they are not good for our bodies. They also usually have soy- which is not good for hormone balance in women. Anyways- I had to mention this because I don’t see vegans discussing that. I don’t like mushrooms, olives, cooked fruit, or stuffing either.
My fav is gardeins, i usually have it on special occasions pop it in my air fryer and in a few minutes, it's ready.
Some of the others were awful in comparison (tofurky). I haven't tried some of the others yet.. will keep a lookout for them.
Edit: i need to find trader joe's! or something similar as i just found out they don't have it in Canada.

Totally agree. I’ve had 4 out of the lineup and Trader Joe’s is absolutely #1! Also, Larisha has the best laugh and Andrew is simply hilarious, love you both!

I was shocked to see that the small Tofurky was $17 at Sprouts now. I think I might go for the Trader Joes one instead this season. Thanks for taking the time to go through all these, you two are hilarious and adorable as usual :)

Love you guys!!! I've been watching a lot of Vegan Turkey Taste tests, and yours has made up my mind for me. I'm one of those people that don't like the texture of meat/fake meat. I've always gone with just the sides for Thanksgiving, but this year I'm going to add the Field Roast Hazelnut and Cranberry Roast to have something special on the table.Thank you!
Haven't tried all of these, but of the one's I've tried, the Trader Joe's one is my favorite. The chew/texture, the seasoning, the stuffing, gravy, etc... not to mention the decent price-point. Just purchased another for this Thanksgiving. I should add, tried the Trader Joe's one thanks to your last (2020) video. Thanks! You guys are awesome!

For me, Sprouts is 2 hours away, and Whole Foods is 4 hours away. I can get the Feild Roast and the Tofurky Roast at a store called Natural Grocers.

you guys are truly the GOAT for spending all of this money on vegan roasts!!! i know you guys didn't put the field roast sage/garlic as 1 or 2 but to me those flavors sound the most appealing and look like the "fanciest" on the table

This is my family first year doing a vegan turkey loaf and this video is really helpful with picking one to serve.
Always love hearing these taste reviews from the two of you. I will, have to go with Andrew because I do not enjoy the texture of mushroom as well, so our tastes are similar in that respect. I wish somone would put out a gluten free vegan turkey. I did find a gravy packet by Simply Organic that is gluten free that I like.
Nice reviews my preference is the Field Roast hazel/cran a little pricey but well worth it imho. Whole Foods sells out early picked one up 2 weeks ago . Thank you for the video
Should’ve waited for this video before I bought mine! I got the Vegetarian plus 😂 I’m glad the Veg Plus is still pretty much at the top at least! I’m looking forward to the cranberry sauce that goes with it. I also got the Field Roast Hazelnut & Cranberry one for $7 because they couldn’t find the right price. I’m pretty sure it’s just a dish on its own OR to have with a vegan Turkey. I’m excited for it because of the spices you guys said you were tasting!
I just watched your vegan turkey video from a few years ago! Im doing a full vegan thanksgiving dinner this year from a local vegan restaurant. Expensive but its going to be great. But ill be getting the trader joes turkey for friends-giving 🙌

Are you cooking these items from frozen or are any of them thawed or partially thawed? I was wondering if that affected the toughness that ones like Gardein had?
Really appreciate these taste tests because there's so many of us that can't afford to waste our money on trying a bunch of these.

So much potential peril in this one . . . You two are troupers, because I was getting tired seeing you sample all of these, LOL. A good amount of variety, so it's getting easier to be vegan at the holidays. Lots of ones I'd never heard of; the gigantic artisanal one with all those weird stuffing ingredients was amazing, and scary! I'm probably gonna get one of the 365 ones, because my local WhoFoo is having sales on plant-based roasts at this time. Really enjoyed this one--unexpected controversies!--so thanks for posting : )
My ShopRite had the Gardein as the free meal w/$400! Looking forward to it, last year Tofurkey was a bust.

I love all of your taste test. I recently discovered a brand from my local vegan restaurant called Atlas Monroe that is the best faux meat I've ever had. I would love for you two to try it!

The breading on Atlas Monroe products are delicious and crisps up just like fried chicken, but the inside has the texture of mushy bread. I tried all cooking methods (baking, deep frying, and air frying), but it always comes out inedible. Maybe I just don't like vital wheat gluten or the pieces they sent me were too large, too much "filling".
@@sad_machines Possibly. I don't mind the vital wheat gluten taste. I know my local place does a deep fry on it and as a less than a year old vegan it fills a need in my fried chicken loving heart.
i agree with andrew. when it comes to alternatives i base my opinion just on if it tastes good as its own thing, not how it compares to its non vegan counterpart 😎🖤

Right, my daughter bought the Aldi cutlets and ate it on a bagel sandwich. I guess the bagel soaked up the grease!
I just saw on your site you are in NJ. How cool is that?! Anyhoo ... I appreciated your thorough review. I'll have to go out and get a Trader Joe's roast and try it. Out of the ones I've tried, I always keep returning to Gardein's roast. Field Roast only has their roast available during the holidays, particularly Thanksgiving. I haven't seen them in the stores for Christmas. I can't stand Tofurky. To me its' like shoe leather. Same for FR's smaller roast. It's odd you put 365 so low when, at least to me, it's a direct knockoff of Gardein's.
I love that Gardein has their mini-roasts available all year now. Cook up some greens and taters and you have yourself Thanksgiving meal all-year long!

I'm an old OG tofurky girl, it will always have a place in my heart. Gardein is great but we had trader Joe's this year and it wasn't my favorite. Turkey was okay but the cranberry stuffing was sour? Trying the vegetarian plus roll next 👍 they also make a ham roll . Have you guys tried it?
Love all of your videos (have watched way over a dozen the past couple days) but feel like they could definitely use some (more) editing. And idk if anyone else agrees but are you giving the review to your hubby or us (the viewers)? You seem so super sweet but I would love more eye contact to the camera!
I already bought the Aldi and the Gardein Vegan Turk'y cutlets. I didn't find the Aldi patties greasy last year. I wonder if they changed their recipe. Darn, yucky. I agree, they reminded me of vegan fish less patties too. And, yes, they do taste more like chicken than turkey. But I still liked them. The Gardein cutlets are much better, though. I don't like the cranberries in the Gardein stuffed turkey roasts. There's nothing wrong with it, I just dislike fruit in stuffing. But the breading and turkey are good.
The Aldi recipe is definitely different. We compared the ingredients. Let us know what you think!

What supplements do you guys take ? I understand that vegans have to take vitamin b12, calcium and a few more.
Wish i had seen this before!!! But i got the gardein one and its pretty high on the list so not a total loss for me haha
I sometimes buy the chickenless patties from aldi and I always have to pat it in-between paper towels to remove some oil lol. I normally fix them in the oven. If you fry it in a pan you don't even need to add any oil whatsoever because the oil they add just....seeps out.

Andrew. You don't have to like mushroom texture. I love candied yams. Don't care for sweet potato pie.( Don't kill me friends). Love potatoes every way but I hate potato salad. Love ketchup hate tomatoes. We're all weird with food some kinda way. The vegan Thanksgiving is the first video I ever watched of you two. Love love love your channel. (BIG ). That's believe in good. Sad to learn today that the Trader Joe's one is discontinued. I thought it looked the best, and your taste test results sound like it probably was. Something I also liked is that it wasn't made of soy, which my mom is allergic to. R.I.P breaded turkey-less stuffed roast.

We always joke that as soon as we do a video brands come out with new things. We wanted to keep this mostly to just store brands and VGB didn't announce until we had shot this that they would be in limited stores

I'm done with Field Roast. I don't know what it is, but every single thing I try from them just tastes BAD. Of the ones I've tried, I prefer the classic Tofurky with the old school baste made from OJ, soy sauce, and sugar.

Yes, so SAD! I just called my local TJs yesterday since it's 2 weeks from Thanksgivingmy and was told it is discontinued :( I was told that TJ will be back with a new Turkey less roast next year in 2024 😊

Do most vegans not use a knife to cut fake meat? I watched another vegan turkey taste test, and they were struggling with cutting the turkey with a fork. At least you guys didn't seem to struggle. I just find it funny. You can use a knife even though it is fake meat, I do, lol

I don’t like this review. I haven’t seen a review with someone sit down and has so many food restrictions. How accurate is thier review? He doesn’t like cranberries, stuffing, mushrooms but decided to taste things associated with all those things doesn’t make sense
