SCX24 Jeep Gladiator - BUDGET BUILD - Update 1 - Vinyl Wrap/Decals/PlastiDip/3D Printed Parts/Brass

- Its time for Update 1 on the SCX24 Jeep Gladiator! My goal is to achieve a totally custom build with a small budget and keeping purchased upgrades to a minimum. Update 1 features:
- Cut the front windows to show off interior more
-10mm brass hex spacers - increased width = better stability
-Vinyl wrapped the roof, bed liner and added custom decals
-Plasti Dip rims black
-Installed 3D printed parts - door handles, snorkel, roof rack and hood vents
-Hand painted details all over the jeep
$12.50 for 10mm brass spacers from Injora. Vinyl wrap, decals, 3d printed parts were all free. Tiny bit of plasti dip used = $15

@@chaddavis513 Good question! I was lucky to work in a vinyl shop wrapping real cars for a couple years. I have collected a ton of scrap vinyl to wrap RCs because there so small, also hate throwing away good material 😃 The type of vinyl I used is Avery Denision. My favourite brand to work with. I also have some Hexis vinyl and 3m good also. Sometimes with the bigger brands you need to be on like a contract with them to order. If your having troubles my last resort is Vivid vinyl you can find online pretty easy! Hope this helps✌️

Trying to do something different with my c10 topper. i painted it black but with roll overs it chips and scuffs so i have to keep touching it up but with your vinyl idea just mite be the way to go. @@chaddavis513 Anytime! Nice man, well vinyl might be the answer for you, I feel it's more durable then paint on the outside of a body. You should have no problems wrapping the truck cap as long as it had no texture, once it's smooth plastic, lexan or metal you will be fine! Make sure to heat up slightly after with heat gun to activate the glue to stick and last longer! Sweet I will check it out 😄👊
A year later I return here and still haven't seen a more realistic, detailed or clean build.

I just got the blue 24th scale gladiator, so far all I've done is take off the roof tent. Thus has given me plenty of ideas for my rig.

So Cool !!! "Vinyl wrapped the roof", at 1st , I am not sure if the heat gun (hair dryer) would hurt the body
Thanks!! 🙂 You have to be careful with heating the vinyl also keeping in mind with the body underneath! Not much heat is really needed to make the vinyl stretch so once you take you time and just apply a little heat it's totally fine I've done it on multiple different rc body's! 😎

That's when having RC/Hobby friends come in handy😊 my friend made all the parts for me. Vinyl is very cheap to you don't need a lot and if you I'm Hobbies you must have basic paints laying around! Thanks👊I appreciate it!

Nice. It’s all good but I like what you did with the mountains on the sides, you’ve got some real talent. I wondered the same thing as you, they finally put a driver in the truck with an interior, and then they tinted the windows? smh.

Very nice. Lots of very realistic scale details. Do you peel the plasti dip off off the rubber tires when it dries or just leave it on? Thanks.
Thanks!! 👊 depending how it looks, if you can't tell it's on can just leave it. Sometimes edged peel up a bit because of the flex of rubber tire, if that happens take a razor blade or knife and light cut around the rim and peel off tire!

I wanted to share with you, that I want to buy my first SCX24 and I am between the Gradiator vs Ford Bronco, both are very nice, specifically the details of the Bronco's body is spectacular, while the longer wheelbase concept of the other, wow, how much The more I look at youtubers, the more doubts I have about buying. What do you think ? Which one will I have better feelings with?
@@NatxoVarona Well that's exciting! Hard for me to say which one you would like better. The jeep gladiator is my first and only one. I'll tell you I really like it but I have nothing to compare to. I went with the jeep all based on looks, the accessories it came with, colour and the fact of being my first jeep to🙂 hope this helps I'm sure either one you choose you will be happy!

Thanks!! I've had my vinyl from place I use to work I saved all the scraps. You can order online. Some brands are vivid, 3m, hexis, Avery denision! 12x 12 or 12 x 24 inch would be good for small rcs!

Thanks, I appreciate it😄👊 the vinyl wrap I got from where I use to work I saved a bunch of scrap pieces otherwise going in garbage so I can wrap my RC's lol. The brand I used is Avery denision. If having troubles finding you can order vivid vinyl online easily not as good but very similar material! The metal arms I used to hold things while painting are called helping hands for soldering I order those on ebay! And finally the the fine tip brushes I got from micheals a art and craft store in Canada! Hope this helps have a great day! Enjoy the hobby✌️
