I'm Black and I've had a state ID and access to the internet since the 1990s when I was a minor, living in a struggling, working class household. Just happily voted here in south Florida yesterday.

The most common form of ID is a valid driver's license. In the crowded big cities, most people don't drive, so yes there are fewer people walking around with a driver's license in their pocket. It ain't rocket science. The more dense a population, the more democratic the voters, therefore it targets only certain populations of people. It's not a race thing, it's a population density thing.

Those type, minorities in insulated communities, often poorer communities. Look, voting is the most important right an American has. It is our only means of holding those in power accountable. And we should be very wary of any laws that those in power try to pass that limit our ability to vote. It may seem small, having an ID, but there is specific documentation that has been leaked indicating that the reason that politicians have tried to impliment voter ID in the way it has been in the past - what ID was allowed ect. Was specifically designed to target the forms of ID that non white voters were less likely to have.

I think I have been misundertood. The justice I spoke of is that this video has been made for all to see. I have always stood against black people getting help because we're simply black like it's a mental or physical handicap. It hurts the black children who grow up with this idea that they are without hope unless Uncle Sam gives them a hand up. Hard work works for all, regardless of color or socio-economic status. When I turned 18 I voted for the first time. I was shocked and honestly quite bothered to find out I didn't have to show an I.D. I actually made them look at it anyways.
I am a naturalized US citizen and when I voted for the first time I was utterly dumbfounded that ID was not required. I could have literally picked any name off the voter rolls.
Practically every nation requires ID. Some get you to dip your finger in ink that doesn't wash off for days, just to ensure there's no double voting. People show their blue (usually) fingers with pride, it shows they voted!
I was about to say, I grew up poor, black (bi-racial) and I've had an ID since I was in my teens. So did my bro and every other black family member and friend of mine. I am 73, retired US Army Officer of 30 years. I became an officer because 4 black Non Commissioned Officers saw something in me that they wanted for the service they loved. I am white, they believed in me and because of them, I became an officer. I never forgot them. As an officer I never looked at a mans color, religion, or ethnic background. I served with the finest soldiers in the world, many who were Black!

There was a Campus Reform video about the GA bill, and two women said they were from GA. One said that the bill is classist because people can’t afford ID. I searched myself and there is literally an option to get an ID specifically for voting, and it’s FREE.

Yeah, it seems these kids have a vague understanding of the voter ID issue but haven't taken the time to actually learn about it. They're partially right in their claims, most implementations of voter ID and other restrictions on the vote have been to discriminate against populations less likely to vote for the party trying to push the law through. Its pretty common, most people in power don't care for democracy, they care about keeping their power.

This is my favorite political video on CZcams. I kind of knew about this before hand, the debate was going on while I was in college and I got to hear the whole college viewpoint. It was kind of sickening hearing how degrading it all was. I grew up in a poor neighborhood, and because of that I guess I got more exposure than what any of these other college students got when it comes to real life. These students need to wake up and learn that there is no disparity in intelligence or capability between any background. We are all just normal people trying to create a better situation for ourselves. We all deserve to have the respect in our capabilities as anyone else would have.
I had multiple professors at Arizona State who would, I think without even knowing it, start talking to minorities like they were children and then go back to normal inflection afterwards.

I mean in my teens we had fake ID"s to go clubbing, we knew what was up... :-). Then it was to drive, buy cigs or alcohol, get jobs, get a bank account, enroll in college - even the college made us an ID to access computer labs and check out books etc..., flying some place...it's a universal thing. I am 73, retired US Army Officer of 30 years. I became an officer because 4 black Non Commissioned Officers saw something in me that they wanted for the service they loved. I am white, they believed in me and because of them, I became an officer. I never forgot them. As an officer I never looked at a mans color, religion, or ethnic background. I served with the finest soldiers in the world, many who were Black!

It isnt the ID laws thats the problem, its them closing a lot of the polling sites in Blk and latino areas to make the lines 10 times as long to discourage people from standing in line. I have been voting for over 40 yrs and not ONCE did they NOT ask me for id. I dont understand why people think that you could have just walked into the voting place and not show id. I have ALWAYS had the past 40 yrs in the BLACK neighborhood.

I worked as a CDL driver and I worked with plenty of black drivers who had full D licenses in addition to B or A and even an M
I am in my 50’s. I remember hearing this in elementary school and really being taught that black people couldn’t get ID. Even then I thought that sounded really racist.
This is relevant after the new GA bill. One of the most telling videos I’ve ever seen
There was a Campus Reform video about the GA bill, and two women said they were from GA. One said that the bill is classist because people can’t afford ID. I searched myself and there is literally an option to get an ID specifically for voting, and it’s FREE.
A purge is needed in a majority of universities and colleges. I don’t understand why parents pay for tuition for their children to be dumbed down. Student loans. How can anyone get a job with such a stupid education that’s being taught these days.

Yeah, it seems these kids have a vague understanding of the voter ID issue but haven't taken the time to actually learn about it.
They're partially right in their claims, most implementations of voter ID and other restrictions on the vote have been to discriminate against populations less likely to vote for the party trying to push the law through.
Its pretty common, most people in power don't care for democracy, they care about keeping their power.

The people who were less likely to have a State ID black people. Also, why did Ami go to New York a place where black people are more likely to have a State ID just in case they get stopped by the police?

This is my favorite political video on CZcams. I kind of knew about this before hand, the debate was going on while I was in college and I got to hear the whole college viewpoint. It was kind of sickening hearing how degrading it all was. I grew up in a poor neighborhood, and because of that I guess I got more exposure than what any of these other college students got when it comes to real life.
These students need to wake up and learn that there is no disparity in intelligence or capability between any background. We are all just normal people trying to create a better situation for ourselves. We all deserve to have the respect in our capabilities as anyone else would have.
