    I'd like to hear the sound test when the 12.2 have loosened up. Not sure if it is my ears but the Linton's sounded the worse of the three tested. Thanks.

    It was B for me. Love that detail that the 220 brings. Add in a sub and you would have a killer 2.1 combo 🥊

    A product that's even better than the three is "the unboxing": the best unboxing ever.

    Had the 225s and I own the 12.2s. The top end of the 12.2s are already on the bright side, the 225s even brighter. Although being the brighter speaker, the 225s are not as detailed as the 12.2s. The 12.2's detail retrieval capability is a league or 2 up on the 225s. Midrange on the 225s can be almost too forward at times depending on the recording, especially with female vocals while the 12.2 is just right. The 12.2 also has a more tactile bass and goes lower when called for, the 225's bass can sound muffled in comparison. And dont forget the cabinet too, the 12.2 has a way sturdier build. I personally find the 12.2 to be superior in most ways. Imaging is another great aspect of the 12.2s, pinpoint and almost laser sharp. Soundstage width could be wider though.The 12.2 and the Lintons are more neutral speakers as we can all hear in the comparison section, the 220 stood out with the brightness and that will make most people go for it instead of the 12.2 or Lintons (going by the vid).

    I think the 220,s actually sounded more forward and clean in the mid range and preferred the sound , I'm listening on mission qx2's which I got open box for £200 ish, you should try them if you get the chance, build quality is unbeatable for the price and they get lower and play beautifully at lower volumes too, I'm just down the road from you near Peterlee by the sound of your accent, love the craic

    Ohhhh tricky this one, I did get all three right before you showed them. Lintons were an easy spot and were my fav, however I am not sure which one of the other two i like. I own a pair of 220 although they are in the loft at the moment, they really do treble and mid range really well, however they are a speaker you proper have to crank up a bit to get the best out of them. Now like you I thought the 12.2 had better bass for sure, but I personally can't do cloudy mid range, I reckon the 12.2 may need a fair bit of space behind them to sort out the mid range. I think this one is gonna be a personal preference/room size rather a better speaker. I am gonna choose the 220 for the mid range. In my listening room the speakers have to be quite close to the wall so would be interesteing to see how the 12.2 they would sound in mine. Another great vid keep erm comming.

    Always hear 7x7x7 feet near sound, in my smaller living room (about 20 square meters), with super attenuation, good equipment, two Rel t5x, in a nice setup.
    6.5" is big in my little two way world.
    Only the Lowther Bicor 1000, Zu Audio Cube mkii and B&W 705 Signature are the only ones left here in the collection, despite their woofer size.
    Got a set of 12.1 used for a good price and must admit I am impressed...
    Love small budget, vintage and mid end speakers.
    Have over 30 sets, with the new Børresen X1 as absolute number one here.

    Ridged for your pleasure 😂 Enjoyed the comparison. To me, there’s simply something special about the 200 series. I have the 220s & the 225s, and love the sound of them. The 225s are where it’s at! They hit that Sweet Spot in small to medium size rooms. I have been considering the Lintons, but now concerned they might be too big for my space. The Super Dentons are now tempting me. I’d be love to see your experience with them if you ever get a chance. I’ve gone British with my speakers and amp and love listening to my music.🎶 👍🏼😎

      @@UTILITARIANTVUK That would be cool if possible. I’d like to see what your thoughts are compared to the 12.2. I personally love the Wharfedale speakers. Quality at reasonable price. I like the way they sound. What else matters? I got my 225s as open-box for $249. Same price for the 220s new. I’m curious if you would sell the 225s once you own them. They’re not the Lintons, but it’s special in its own right. Really enjoy your videos friend. You make it fun. Cool approach. Thanks! 🎶😎👍🏼

    Top end HF presence just vanished with the Lintons, I expect that's why they are deemed really good for modern recordings/music which can sound 'harsh' on some very detailed sounding speakers. I believe there is a Xover upgrade to bring the Linton tweeter to life! It's the only thing that has stopped me buying the new Linton 85.....can I live with the reduced HF detail? I too have a Marantz amp, Marantz are well known for warm sounding amps and just not sure my PM8006 will be a good match with a Linton?

  • @matytinman
    @matytinman Před 28 dny +2

    With YT 4K, the best sound is B.
    In the room, must be C but you still have a problem with the bass. Linton's need more space on the walls and to improve the furniture internally so that it resonates less (at the bottom: three reinforcements). First I would try to plug the rear bass-reflex and enhance the bass with EQ.

    • @UTILITARIANTVUK
      @UTILITARIANTVUK  Před 28 dny +1

    The Lintons sound little different from the 1970 Linton II.
    Overblown boomy bass, lacking definition.
    Middle and top sound like they have wooly socks in front of them.
    The old Lintons did at least have some clarity in the midrange.

I have been in this game for many years however there is nothing like live sound go and sit in a cathedral and listen to a church organ you will appreciate what no speaker can produce
