Some of the "early" mk4 Volkswagens did not have the side curtain airbags.
99.5-01 I believe is what's considered the early version of the Mk4 chassis, so depending on the year of your car you might or might not be in luck having to deal with the airbags.

You are exactly correct. And using the interior A and B pillar covers from those cars is a lot easier. The airbag cars have a retention system on the top of the A pillar cover that is kind of a pain.

Nice vid sir. Great info. I would add a small vid on dropping the headliner and getting out the clips on the mk6 front bag mounts. Also how are you guys dealing with the sunroof rails. Do you leave the drains or ?

funny you should ask, I have a video LOL czcams.com/video/rYjPCU9PJFw/video.html
that is for Beetles but the process is very similar on Jettas. Difference is Jetta sunroof will only work in tilt function. It will not slide back any.

You have a link to the resistors you found on ebay? I noticed the different colors in the bags, is that to differentiate between the different resistances? Do you happen to know if the resistance is the same for the seat airbags? Looking to go after market route. Thanks for the info and vids!!

Sorry, I looked for it but couldn't find the same deal. There are plenty of resistors listed though. I wouldn't worry about the colors, go by the resistance. Ive seen different colors of the same resistance and vice versa. I believe it is the same resistance on the seats but not 100%. I usually just use VCDS.
