Ya gotta have the carafe out to close the lid, then insert the carafe.
I just bought the cousin of this one yesterday. I returned the fancy $100 Cuisinart unit I purchased -- I think mine had some manufacturing defects. But the B&D I got seems nice for the price. It looks the same as this one but has the voetext brew head. Seems to get the grounds saturates fairly evenly - not as well as the cuisinart but better than a standard Mr. Coffee. Target is selling currently for $25. Quite a deal! I just wish it would beap when it is done.
PS. JC Penny's currently has this one in sale for $18. I still decided the voetext head was worth the extra money, but both are great deals for the price.

I just got this machine today, and I made 4 cups of coffee, and the coffee tastes weak. Any ideas? I put 1 Tablespoon per cup. Thanks.
I heard when you make a small batch you might try adding more coffee, maybe 5 or 6 tablespoons of coffee grounds.
How can I let the maker to heat coffee without to remake a coffee again ?
Mine keeps coffee hot for 2 hours.
