If you have little kids and money it’s fine. During the summer it’s overrun with kids and the hotel needs some major upgrades. It’s looking fairly aged at this point. Our son outgrew the pools etc by the time he was about 13. We moved to the Fairmont Kea Lani or The Four Seasons.

When asked when they said “before COVID.” Sad…

That being said it is a wonderful resort and only have great memories from there. The property is really beautiful and is great for kids and adults. We have stayed a the Fairmont just down the street for roughly the same price per night and the Grand Wailea is a far better resort.

Thanks for the video! My wife and I have 4 kids and will be taking my parents as well. Would you recommend staying at the Maui Hyatt Regency or the Grand Wailea for 7 nights? We have stayed at the Marriott Beach Resort and loved that as well.

    • @thebrandonboydshow
      @thebrandonboydshow Před 2 lety +2

That sounds like an exciting trip. If you’re asking my honest opinion, I’ll lay it out for you.
Although the Grand Wailea is showing some cosmetic signs of age, it is in my opinion a better overall resort. Here’s why:
      Much larger, flatter beach
      Clearer water
      More pools
Shopping and snack options on site were great
      Parking is a breeze
Taco Food Truck on site next to the pool and beach (that just a personal thing for me)
Luau on site is a must and a great experience for family (book well in advance)
1 block from nice shops and food options (easy walking path to get there).
I love the Hyatt Regency. Great service, pool was terrific and if you have Hyatt status then take advantage. However, there is one big downside that I would heavily consider: the beach is small at all points of the day (I checked). It is also sloped pretty badly. So, if beach play and lounging is important, it’s hard for me to say this is a good fit. There are also lots of black rocks/shells in the water which can hurt your feet. Those don’t exist at Grand Wailea.
Those are my honest thoughts. That being said, if you take your family to Hawaii, I doubt there will be much complaining. It’s a beautiful place. We look forward to going back soon.
I hope that helps. Whichever resort you choose, make sure you book well in advance like maybe even the day bookings first become available in the future. You’ll get your best rates. I am hearing things are crazy with pricing right now.
Also, later today I’ll be releasing a compilation video of all my travels from 2021, how I booked the stays with points/miles/certificates, and highlight some of my favorite attractions and food stops. Check that out when it hits later today.
      Thanks for watching!

The manager actually took the time to walk around with me and let me go in the other rooms. I tried 3-4 rooms without any better AC performance.

@@thebrandonboydshow thank you! I found a discount code last year which saved us like 20 or 25% off the room then used air miles for the flight. The food their is pricey but you can rent a car offsite outside of the hotel for cheap if you want to go into town. There’s a Costco there and other local supermarkets. That’s what we did on our first trip but this last trip we just vegged and didn’t do any site seeing. The hospitality, location, cleanliness, and food onsite is amazing!
