I love these!! I think they turned out so much better than the last ones. The only thing I would change is to replace that gold paint pen rim with a black paint pen rim. I think that would set off the effect of the powders so much more. In my opinion, the metallic color rim detracts from the pretty powder effect.

You could put the coasters with the rock edge in your round molds, upside down, and then pour a clear or black coat on the druzy side. Then both sides would be flat. You would have a solid edge, but I think it might look nice. These are beautiful. They look like fool's gold.

I think they both have their appeal. However, I prefer the one with the drusy insert if we’re talking coasters. Others may prefer the more rustic feel of the other. As an ornament alone, I’d agree with them.

Actually, I love them both. The natural edged one will be great for display and of course the coasters are just stunning too. I live in the states so I am not able to afford your molds but, they are wonderful, I think any you make would sell for you. The deeper molds seem like they are the best when you use your druzy insert. It gives you options on depth but, it is deep enough for multiple layers. Julie, I want to thank you for all your experiments. I am watching you from my hospital bed, just had some major back surgery, so I am watching all my favorite artist, I think all of you are the most giving of people who want to teach and show all the beauty we as artists can pass along to others. I am not to the level of actually teaching myself, but you are all my heroes.

Idea... do a first pour of the black then a super thin second pour of the black on top to make the mica bits disappear from the back... that or use a paint brush and tap some flecks onto the black to make it more of an intentional look and maybe do a super thin coat of clear over that to mimic the other side so both can be used?

Oh I definitely like these more. For one, the edge accentuates the crystal center. And this one has more depth. I don't know if it's the extra thickness of the clear, or the difference between the mold and the mold insert having more definition. Or both lol. And personally, I liked them better before the gold paint border, but maybe it's required to cover the joint area of the layers?

Nicely done. Very pretty. Like the one done in the deeper mold the best. Wondering if instead of a stick to spread the resin could you use your finger. Seems it would be easier to spread. I like the little lip. If using as a coaster then when the glass sweats it would keep it from running off.

So curious me wonders why you do not want the textured side and prefer the smooth side? Seems to me if you use it for a drink coaster, isn't it to protect your wooden(or whatever) surface from the wet(think sweaty glass)? Wouldn't the smooth side just make liquid go off the top of the coaster and the textured side would hold more liquid to protect the wood? Is there something I am missing?

Just thinking things out...what if you poured black into your mold, laid the Drury insert on top, let it dry, then remove the Drury insert, paint with the mica, then cover in clear? I get alot less of the "pearling" blobs of mica by taking my mold and blowing on it to get rid of loose bits...I love the thought of the druzy look but so far still like the "crushed velvet" ones first
