Thanks for your videos. I do have a question about effects. We use IEMs and often use a splitter snake so the FOH gets a pristine signal. Our singers like a small amount of reverb in their IEMs. I use the “pre-fader” option which still seems dependent on the levels for the main output. Is there anyway to add effects to the aux sends that is not influenced by the fader levels for foh? Thanks
if you have the effect set to Pre Fader, then the main L/R mix faders will have absolutely no way to change the levels heard in the IEM mix that is set to Pre Fader. The only way the main mix audio person could mess with the levels is if he/she is changing the input gain on some of the inputs. Also, it is possible that the IEM mix is hearing the main (Front of House) reverb, but that should be turned all the way down in the IEM mix. I made a new video that goes into great detail of using effects with IEM mixes. The singers should have a dedicated reverb that is not used for FOH (front of house) czcams.com/video/IG2M5bAh6so/video.html
Really good tutorials really thankful! But I’m having this problem, when I send the delay on aux 12 it goes up on FOH automatically I put down but it goes down automatically on aux 12
Hi MG,,, I can help you with this... the reason that the delay effect is being controlled by the fader for the main L/R mix is because you evidently have AUX 12 set to "POST" fader. Aux 12 will still have it's own levels somewhat independent from the main L/R mix, but those levels will always change when the Main L/R faders are altered. If you prefer to keep AUX 12 POST fader, and you don't want the Main L/R delay fader to control the delay in AUX 12, then you really only have two choices... 1.) set AUX 12 to PRE-Fader, or 2.) use a different delay for the MAIN L/R mix. This is of course only possible if you are using Master Fader 5 with either the DL16S or 32S mixer since "currently" (January 2010) these mixers have up to four available effects. The terminology that you used in the description of your problem was very difficult for me to understand, but I think I understand that you want to raise and lower the delay effect in the Main L/R mix without the delay's volume being messed with in AUX 12,,,, correct? If you are in the USA, you can visit my website and get the phone number to text or call me after 12 Noon CST (Central Standard Time) Either way let me know if this helps.
Yes. I have Aux 12 for live streaming so aux12 need a reverb. But, when I raise the reverb on 12 the sound goes on L/R too. Whats your website? Kurysound?
@MG Photos & Films when you select AUX 12 on the mix selector, you will be viewing Aux 12. You can raise and lower the reverb "return" fader in Aux 12 and it will not change the reverb level on the Main L/R mix. Try that... www.kurysound.com

I mean if I had the FOH and 20 meters away I set a couple of speakers, can I apply a delay on them? I never saw this on the app! have a great day. Julio
@@juliodiazgranados2131 Hi Julio Yes, you can use the delay setting on any of the outputs, just click on the EQ for any output, and the delay can be seen in the lower left-hand corner. Have a great day!
Hi Michael, first, you need to choose a reverb setting in one of the reverb slots. Then in the main mix... set the fader for that reverb to unity gain or (zero dB). Now, you simply raise the effect "send" fader for each of the vocals, and/or instruments that you want to go to the reverb. To hear reverb in a monitor mix, you simply raise the reverb return fader in that mix. Here is an analogy... you need to realize that if you use one reverb for vocals and drums, the reverb return is going to have reverb of not just the vocals but the drums too. If you want a particular singer to have just his/her reverb in their mix, you need to dedicate one reverb for that vocalist. You have up to four different reverbs,.. I suggest using one reverb for the mains, front of house (FOH) and use the other three for individual reverbs for monitors. There are just too many variables in this discussion to address here. I hope that helps.
Hey looks like an AWESOME video. Question: Are these tips applicable to Master Fader if I am mixing on a Mackie DL1608 and not on the DC16? I know they both use the MF app, so that got me wondering, and there really isn't a lot of decent info on effects on the DL1608 specifically.
Hi Chiro, I no longer use the Mackie gear so I don't really know what tips in my videos are applicable to a 1608 user. Try anything you see in these videos on your DL1608 and see if it works :) Thank you for watching!!

Hi, you want me to help you to connect to the internet, you already connected to the internet when you sent me this message through youtube. However, I understand because English may not be your native language, and if it is not your native language I am not able to help any further than this. You have not read the manual. You do not connect the DL1608 to the internet. A wireless Mackie DL mixer never needs an internet connection. You have given me no information to allow me to help you. What wireless router are you using? What wireless device are you using.... iPad, iPod, Android? All you need to do is connect a wireless router to the mixer with a simple cable like a CAT5 cable. Follow the directions in the manual.
no I don't, but the video goes into great detail of how to set it to your liking. Since music is always changing, the reverb and delay settings are going to need to be altered to fit the music.
Hi, just purchased a Mackie dl1608 and I am a new to mixing sound. Do you by chance know if and where I can possibly find pre recorded tracks to practice and learn how to mix? Any leads are appreciated, thank you in advance.. ✌🏼❤️🙏🏼
Hi James, in order to have multi-track playback that is "mixable" on a DL1608 you will need an external 16 track machine to play those tracks, like a computer, or a stand alone machine that would require many patch-cords to connect it to the DL1608. Had you purchased a DL16S, DL32S or DL32R you would be able to connect a computer to those mixers and then you could experiment with mixing the sound. Unfortunately, the DL1608 is bare bones and has no capability to do what you want to do. Do yourself a favor, if you purchased a new DL1608 from a legitimate Authorized Mackie dealer, I would highly suggest that you exchange it today for a DL16S or better yet, a DL32S. With one of the two mixers that I just mentioned, you will still need a laptop or desktop computer and some sort of DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) software, and you will also need some mono audio tracks to put into that software, Logic Pro X, Digital Performer, or maybe even Garageband if you already have a Mac computer, Macs come with Garageband.
Hi, I usually record with a hard drive connected to the rear of the DL32R. In order to play back the individual tracks, all you need to do is hit the (B) button on the recording page and play the multitrack recording. This will instantly switch all 32 channels from the (A) XLR inputs that were recorded and send them to the same inputs via the USB (B) inputs. As long as your routing is set with the default USB routing this will happen. This is commonly referred to as a virtual soundcheck.
Supposedly, it adjusts for high frequency loss with warmer temperatures. Personally I think it's a joke, what is not a joke is the fact that high frequencies have more difficulty traveling through warm air compared to cooler air. A good demonstration of this is on Dave Rat's CZcams channel.

Hi Estudiado, assuming you already kow how to set up the sends for reverb on the Main L/R mix, all you need to do in order to hear the reverb in any of the monitor mixes is go to each monitor mix and turn up the reverb return. The DL1608 has only one reverb and one delay, so your monitor mixes are going to have to share the same reverb. The DL32R has two reverbs and one delay so you could use one reverb for the Main mix and use the other one for monitors. You did not mention which DL mixer you have. Here is one analogy... let's say you have a nice balance of vocals and snare drum in the reverb, and let's assume that the lead singer has "ONLY" his/her vocal in their mix.... if he/she asks to hear reverb in their mix, all you can do is raise the reverb "return" fader in their mix. When you do that, he/she will probably say, "no, I don't want to hear any snare drum reverb" but that is all you can do because that one reverb has snare and vocals in it. In order to give him/her their own reverb, you must have a separate reverb for their mix and use it in just their monitor mix. If you have a dedicated reverb for him/her, then you will need to set their reverb "master fader" (NOT return) to PRE fader, which is actually not ideal. If you use "post fader" for their dedicated reverb, then every time you move his/her main L/R fader, the reverb's volume is going to change in their mix. What you are asking for is not a difficult thing to achieve, but explaining everything else that goes along with setting this up in this message would take far to long. I hope you understand what I am offering here :) If you are still confused, feel free to contact me through my website. www.kurysound.com.
