So far by far I like this best out of the idea's you've shared, thin epoxy along with your lamp here also splitting the wood base for a flush fence mount on the patio (solar) I love this stuff

What a beautiful piece you designed from the plastic rulers. It's great that it can be used so many different ways. I do think that I would cover up the numbers, especially if using it as a light. It detracts from the beauty of the light.
