- Sarah Richardson is called in to redesign a Penthouse In New York City. The place in its current state doesn't scream sexy New York City glamour so a complete makeover fitted with elegant, modern upgrades is needed in the kitchen, living room, and bedroom. Sarah even admits that this was one of her most favorite designs she's done and would happily live here! Design Inc S4 E12

All those chairs made the family room look like a furniture store.
This team knows their stuff!
If I ever owned a house and wanted to fix it up, and had the $$ Sarah would be the person I would hire!
I love it but I would have taken out one of the club chairs by the chaises so they weren’t so close to each other
This is one of my favorite of Sarah's and team's designs. I really wish the clients would have chosen the penny round backsplash and the circular hardware, but that is just my personal taste. LOVE the exotic woods throughout! And the shimmer (and I normally don't do shimmer)! So classic, so elegant, so tasteful.
It was incredible how those guys thought of and executed putting the granite on top of the elevator... thinking outside the box, literally! Pulled it off like Navy Seals!
Definitely a design Inc mistake of not making sure of the measurements.
Omg, the penthouse was nice, but the dog was adorable!
2nd viewing -- What Richardson gets done, ON BUDGET, almost always on time (not design, inc. caused delay), is nothing short of insane value.
That penthouse is gorgeous, lives like a dream, practical, comfortable, luxurious. And gorgeous. And, its 2023 when I'm seeing it, saying this.
I love the space, but the TV console piece seems too yellow against all the cream. I can't imagine having the money and confidence to have these areas done without much input. Your design team is awesome.
You have to have some major buckaroos to buy AND redesign a penthouse. I was prepared to dislike this couple, but that changed when Mr. Finnegan entered the picture. The finished project is both spectacular and welcoming. I hope they tipped the countertop delivery guys well.
Ps: Be glad the water damage shows up when the room is empty!
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The penthouse now exudes an understated elegance and sophistication without sacrificing comfort and function. I love the entire transformation kudos to Sarah & her team... Abrazos
Seems like a lot of furniture for that space. Beautiful cabinetry!
Putting a mirrors on the opposite wall was a great idea to bounce off of that gorgeous outdoor view.❤
LOVE this series. Can you please add more of these shows? They are fantastic!

@@AbodeLDS THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
This video was made years ago. Notice how timeless Sara Richardson’s designs always are….( except the granite)
The back splash tile needs to be updated
The granite aged much more than the back splash tile - the designer option would have held up better but the client dictated both choices.
No one taking measurements??
There’s almost too much furniture in the living room…..sofa, chairs and chaise lounges?
This couple have deep pockets!
He coaches in the NHL
Too much furniture. The TV hutch just did not go with the rest of the room.
Love the decor and Art Deco. I would be very concerned that water came in through the windows. There will be other storms and the nice wood floors will need to be replaced! Shoddy condo construction??! Beware, maybe that is the reason the previous owners sold.
I don't know when this was actually filmed and maybe Canadians have a different sensibility but when I sold my home in Atlanta in 2017, all the Deco antiques I had went to The Salvation Army. My children didn't want them, auction houses didn't want them and I was left, heart-broken as the stunningly beautiful furniture I was told would only appreciate in value went to charity😭
o, no, this would break my heart too, so sorry, I also have an art deco cabinet, but I bet someone bought it and take good care of it.
This episode is an old one. DesignInk is now another name. Sarah has been on for years, is Canadian and is a beautiful designer.
OMG!!!!!!!!
OMG!!!!!!!!
I love the over feel of the space, but something is off to me in the living room. I saw lots of leggy furniture. Kitchen cabinets were awesome.
Yeah, the living room is just a big circle of upholstered furniture. And I love the kitchen cabinets too, but wish they had gone with the round tile to break up all the straight lines.
too much upholstered furniture. needed a desk or console. also, what about boxing in the round columns?
Love, love, love the kitchen
A room lined with seating
"Cookies 'n' cream" indeed! Nice coordinated food items in the staging. I've seen that pair of brown wood zigzag shelves in another Sarah design.
Absolutely love it love the color scheme
Thank you. Such a great episode. I think he was coaching the Maple Leafs at this time.
Hmm
I like it, retro & modern
Hi All, Love your team and designs! Could we come in after the fact and put mirrors on the posts?
Beautiful!
Do not like the backsplash. And the view is spectacular and all the seating faces inwards ⁉️⁉️⁉️
the backsplah is horrid!!! agree with you
I find chaise lounges very uncomfortable. And, these cluttered the room. Resembles a corner of store where leftover furniture has no other place to go.
Lovely couple
This is a stunning space -- TV video does not do it justice, but, I can easily conjure up the familiar hues + textures & feel the radiance & shimmer.
Well done
How many people doesn’t it take to change a lightbulb 💡
This is the first time I've been disappointed. It is the most spectacular space. It looks like a furniture showroom, cramped. The wall hangings look sporadic. The shell lamps are tacky. The dining area is perfect the mirror vintage armoire. I must let it slide as postpartum hormones, they're like a tsunami, and can affect all areas of your life. Lovely baby girl.
wall hangings were random and nothing was the focus of the showroom
All that white in a "dog friendly" room? Am I crazy or are you?
This is probably the first Design Inc room that doesn’t appeal to me. I did líke the addition of the mirror but the color of everything is boring and the furniture placement is crowded but I’m not a designer.
It’s funny to think they probably have redecorated by now since some of these trends are out. However those vintage pieces were smart since they still do seem like great pieces today and the kitchen is still very cool besides the pendants and backsplash which are easiest to change out anyway.
I imagine they've sold the place since they now have two daughters and Dallas is head coach for the Anaheim, California Ducks.
How much it costs
Please provide breakdown of cost (design consultation and fixtures/ furniture)
what is going on where is Sarah........with new content ?
love it!
Looks cluttered by the chaise lounges.
This Toronto, not New York
Yeah, there is no CN tower in NYC to my recollection...
blondes, another blonde, and .... love this show and watch compulsively.
Well designed,... mmm however this too much art deco and 70s mixed together
The brown dog is gonna spend ALL his time on those chaise lounges, betcha! For a "Sarah" tinged space, it's got a LOT going on. Like, too much. I hope you're right Sarah, about those Deco pieces....unless you resell the pieces on 1st Dibs, you may not have a lot of buyers for Deco. But then, it IS NYC, so they live differently than the other 99% of us.
no way is that NYC!!!
👍
The living area layout is not pretty…so cluttered
Damn now I feel old.
Hi how r u
@@artsrenovatinggames597 I'm 👍
they keep saying NYC, but keep showing Toronto.....waaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyy different skyline! that is NOT ....NYC , nor is it NYC design...looks cheap
This is in 2008. In today's design world, it feels outdated.
All this for 10K? Brilliant!
No, lol. They said they wished it cost 10k. This obviously cost a lot more.
That was a joke, he was being sarcastic.
Too many CHAIRS.....sorry borrring
I have loved all of the Design Inc. designs so far, but this result was hideous! There are too many pieces of furniture- and the way all the chairs/chez are stuffed in makes it look like a furniture shop! The buffet under the Tv is the ugliest piece of all!!! The living room was a TOTAL fail. I loved the dining room and kitchen though. Kudos to the marble guys- epic save!
Hmmm. Not working for me.
They forgot the dog bed...
I really loved how it all turned out and the colours are amazing. I understand that the brief spoke of the challenges of a chocolate lab being in the mix - but didn't I see the mom holding the hand of a small child a couple times. If they have a toddler in the home - that should have been what the colour scheme was built around surely, not the dog. the muted colours would be disastrous with a toddler who is constantly putting their grubby little hands on everything and spilling all over furniture etc. Unless they are planning on banning the child from the living space altogether?? Something just seemed a bit off with this brief
That was Sarah's daughter, shows how old the episode is.
The backsplash was so blah…no POW. Common..
Man’s chaise way too far from tv 😛
1st time ever..I did not enjoy.. the living room had too many pieces..not like usual Sarah. Still love though.
Way too much furniture in the living room. Not a relaxing space at all. Looks like clutter with too much furniture.
That's in NYC ??!??
No…it’s Toronto!
@@andrewmolen5618 Exactly! So why the title?
She sneezed on the counter (and the old man) and didn't even excuse herself, how rude and unhygienic!! Its true what they say; teach kids how to be polite (or is that etiquette) from a young age...its all I can think about for the rest of the show!
oh! this is abode not sarah, got it.
Decades old. So old that it’s now ugly.
