The costs per year for a family to provide therapy services, in deductibles, co-pays, and out-of-pocket expenses far exceeds the cost of this program. You have no idea. The therapists provided by CMH have very little insight and only use "approved" methods by insurance companies, and gov insurance. The amount of time and money spent for this is well worthwhile but requires intelligent parents to follow through.

The therapy is very specific to each child, unlike canned "sensory integration" therapy delivered by most outpatient clinics. ABA is a farce and superficial, only creates modified external behavior that is more socially "acceptable". It's because insurance and big pharma can't patent it. Not a coincidence that mass media companies are owned by the same financial interests as "mainstream medicine", big pharma, and now academia.

Basically what I'm seeing is someone stimulating several of these little boy's senses at once. With the shakers, with the scent, with the special glasses. People with autism and ADD have sensory challenges. The brain is wired differently so that we experience senses in overload rather than them integrating. This is what leads to meltdowns. This occupational therapist (or whoever she is) is helping the little boy get used to being around many different senses at once while playing one on one. Play therapy and physical therapy can help children on the spectrum or those with ADD but you can also do this at home for free with your children or with a therapist trained to help children cope with sensory issues for a lot less than $10K! And of course, since everyone on these spectrums are different, so will be the results.

    • @chloskyskies4399
      @chloskyskies4399 Před 2 lety +6

Actually, in my experience, it doesn’t even really help much (I have it)
All it does it make you better at hiding discomfort, if anything
It would much more beneficial to teach coping strategies, like keeping noise canceling headphones, sunglasses, etc. On hand to reduce stimuli the event of an overload. how to recognize the signs/symptoms of an oncoming overload and what do when you feel one coming. And so on.
But then I guess there’s no reason for them to keep coming back for more sessions.
Honestly, you’ll find way more success from a) listening to your kid and working with them and/or b) asking other people who are diagnosed with your child’s condition for advice (not the parents of said people), online forums can be helpful for this

He made me uncomfortable because he gave off this creepy feeling though he technically never did anything. I was really self conscious of my body and having to do workouts in front of someone else silently was really uncomfortable for me. I'd occasionally forget to do the exercises at home and didn't eat as healthily as i should've which was bad on my part but i felt like overall it was way too much money than it was worth, i felt bad about my mom paying for it and tried to hint to her that it wasn't a good idea. It felt like way too much money for some workouts, being spun in a chair, and identifying smells. the atmosphere was so awkward and quiet which made me wanna go even less. In the end nothing really improved for me.

@@kevinjohnson6549 trust me, with adhd, it’s the first treatment for an option. If they actually have adhd and take the pills as prescribed, they won’t be addicted, the difference in brain chemistry from the average person prevents that, most “withdrawal” that’s reported from those with adhd is actually just your brain dealing with being overtaxed again after getting used to having the load taken off.
If the meds are helping, you’ll know.
If you have adhd, you don’t get a high from your meds, you just are able to think clearly,
The best I can describe it is as putting glasses on your minds eyes. What was once a fuzzy mess is now clear coherent thought.
And just like with glasses, things will be fuzzy and distorted for those who don’t need them, but that doesn’t mean they don’t help people who actually need them.
Pharmacy/medical companies are usually still sh!t, tho.
But, not because the medication doesn’t work, they do.
You wanna know the real corruption, why medication, which literally is the difference between you being able to function and not, is priced so high.
Why are life saving meds so high?
My adhd meds are the difference between me having an actually functioning brain and having a mental state comparable to someone with mid-stage dementia.
Why is my epi-pen, which is the difference between literal life and death, is $600 when costs around 30 dollars to produce.
They don’t need to risk making up diagnoses, when they can much more safely just increase the price and profit from those who have no choice but to pay it.

I saw DR RAY DAMADIAN who invented MRI technology, and his work with Jim McMahon the NFL QB. He was able to help Jim with Dr Scott Rosa, and CTE symptoms were reversed. Dr Rosa saw that my son had a cervical spine issue too. WE GOT ONE atlas adjustment called atlas orthogonal and all of his symptoms went away and he began tying his shoes and doing math word problems. He has friends now. He no longer has extreme mood swings. He no longer is said to be ADHD or Autistic per the school psychologist. He even got student of the month and honor roll for the first time and I cried because he had never had an award and most teachers said " What are you going to do about him?" If he no longer has ADHD or autism, he didn't have it in the first place. They're both neurodevelopmental disorders that you're born with, and that stay with you your entire life. Sure he can "improve" in some ways, in ADHD, especially with medication, and with autism, with helpful and not hurtful therapies, such as speech therapy and occupational therapy.
Autism and ADHD are natural parts of neurodiversity. It's not less, wrong, and should not try to be "cured" or "reversed". Accept your kid for who he is, love him unconditionally, and help him to be the best he can be. Allow him to be autistic and ADHD.

Some people are just born with under develop brain just how some people can be born without an arm, or blind, some people are even born with small brain due to alcoholism. And yes this may actually work, the brain is amazing in that it can adapt, one example is a little girl who lost half of her brain. Yes half, and the other half took over what the other half would normally be doing, with a lot of therapy she was able to walk and function like a normal kid.
