Hi Lis! I most certainly did see “Mom.” She was right beside the fenced in yard in a blackberry bush. At the end of the hammock video when the cubs are looking at something they are watching mom. They scrambled over the fence and joined her.

Usually...although they DO kill, sometimes the attacks are unprovoked (i.e. someone sleeping). In the US, more humans have died from black bear attacks than grizzlies, as there are more black bears than grizzlies. This is not my subjective opinion so feel free to fact-check it.
@@le_th_ New England black bears of never killed anyone they are totally different than northern black bears or western black bears the Bears that I love are New England Black Bears. . and I repeat they have never killed anyone. They are shy and usually leave with any type of noise. They can be quite humorous.

Fwiw, our grandparents in Marietta used to have these hammocks - they're not cheap. Sure miss them after seeing this - and the days when chipmunks were the biggest thing in the yard. Love them. These black bears don’t usually grow up to be aggressive like Grizzlies.
They do not fortunately. We see groups of them (up to 7-8) in our neighborhood though, which can be a bit overwhelming.
