Jacob Batalon (Ned in the SPIDER MAN films) grew up with Zendaya and Tom Holland making those films. They were all Teenagers when they started in the Spider Man movies and he (Jacob) called Zendaya, "Daya" in an interview. Of course "Z" is even shorter, and some people have called her that, too.
Florence's makeup in this one is just perfection, wow!!
Florence herself is a great reflection of how she describes Irulan - all the observations she made about different people, the set, etc. in her responses shows how much she’s just listening and absorbing. Just thought that was super cool.
Also that none of them have a clue about this series at all. Sounds like that all listened to book one on tape and that’s the extent to their depth into the 20+ books and 30,000 year span of Herbert’s creation. I bet she could t even explain the origin of her own Imperial Family

@@NRG2 What? Austin has stated multiple times that he read DUNE books in High School. And he saw Denis' first DUNE multiple times because he was/is such a fan. Florence is intelligent and so is Zendaya, who won academic prizes in school. Timothee' earned straight "A's" at a prestigious university. All these actors and actresses are Brilliant in DUNE: PART TWO! So what if they haven't read all 20 books? Or that they listened on tape after reading the books earlier, or listened to tapes at first. Amazing Rebecca Ferguson said she's still reading the 1st book and she is really good as Lady Jessica. Sure it would be great if all actors everywhere read the books their films are based on first. But not finishing it has not hurt Rebecca's performance.
@@jm6406 All these actors are intelligent and have read and listened to the books. Their performances are wonderful. Timothee, Zendaya, and Austin should be remembered at OSCAR time. And with a larger role in MESSIAH, Florence could be nominated for that down the road. I don't know what NRG2 is on about.

Timothee Chalamet, Zendaya, Florence Pugh and Austin Butler are such well-casted and well-media trained actors. They have such natural chemistry that they bounce off of one another and bring a lot of joy and fun out of each other, on top of embodying such fiery charisma and stunning looks and amazing presence. They were born to play these characters, and they all feel like they are having a lot of fun with this press tour feeling like the best of friends already. They really feel like they are far and away the best actors and movie stars of our generation.
And add amazing actor, Tom Holland, to the mix. Brilliantly Multi-Talented Tom deservedly won a BAFA when he was still just a Child for his fantastic, jaw-droppingly good work on the film, THE IMPOSSIBLE. He's proven himself again and again as a grownup via films like CHERRY, and THE DEVIL ALL THE TIME. That scene in the church when he is alone with Robert Pattinson in THE DEVIL ALL THE TIME? Tom is so good in that scene it pinned me to my chair. His character's righteous indignation slowly builds to an anger from which he cannot return. And I am an American Southerner. Tom's Southern accent is better than MINE! Again - I was pinned back into my chair by Tom's performance. Astounding.
Seeing Austin following up Elvis with Dune 2 and Masters of the Air is great. I hope he has a long career.

Dude has a very clear idea of what he wants to do and the agents to make it happen. Behind those four people there are scores of other people you never see and only fleetingly hear about in award shows that work really hard to make them look good and allow them to project the best versions of themselves.

@@NRG2 Zendaya draws/paints beautifully. She knows a gorgeous ensemble when she sees it. Her stylist, Law, is amazing, but Zendaya has also chosen some of her most iconic ensembles herself - including her beautiful, now Famous tan, sand/wet-look Balmain at the Venice premiere of Denis' First DUNE. And Zendaya's been in show business since she starred in her Hit DISNEY show, SHAKE IT UP at just 13 years-old. She is an expert at putting on her own makeup and her friend and assistant and she herself have done her hair before events sometimes. Sometimes she's very natural. Other times she and others put on the glam for her.
Just watched Dune 2 and man it was absolutely incredible, one of the best movies I have seen in a long time. The cinematography was so good, the entire movie and set pieces were all beautifully shot, the story, action, epic Hans Zimmer soundtrack, everything was top notch. Denis Villeneuve truly one of the best directors today. The cast was great, Timothée Chalamet gave the performance of a lifetime and stole the show as Paul Atreides.
A truly worthy sequel. So excited for Part 3.👏👏

What Zendaya said about Denis wanting to get lots of shots of glances between Paul and Chani is so smart. I dated a girl in college, and the way we met was basically that we kept locking eyes and smiling at one another from across the classroom like every 30 seconds on the first day of an art class we were both taking.

I hugely agree with Zendaya's point about digging out an identity and complexity for Chani as a character. It was something I was really hoping for before seeing Part Two.
In reading the book, I remember thinking Chani felt very complacent in her role and in Paul's decisions. Having seen the film, I am so thrilled at the change. I'm very curious to see how she's used in Messiah.
