That hint of reggae is called ska music which was popular in the UK during the 80s. The dance routine at the end was impressive especially with Ren's spectacular voice.
Yes, I know ska...it was popular in Canada in the 80's and 90's as well. :) I probably just said reggae since he's done bob marely and such and is a fan of it.

Loved your reaction! On top of everything else Ren is a master at word play. "I'm coming rapid, I rip it, I take a rhythm and flip it" He flips the "S" and the "P" in "Sarah Palin" -> "Parah Salin" -> parasailing -> "I'm parasailing with Sarah Palin," I also liked "Etch A Sketch my bars next," as in his bars are all connected like a single line etch a sketch and created by "twisting" the knobs. His bars usually have layered meanings, innuendos, movie and music references at the same time advancing his narrative. You caught the ring reference. With Ren if you do not see a hint of a sexual reference, especially in these Love Music songs, then you are missing it. "Cod-father"? Maybe google codpiece. Thought the last 2 lines of Love Music 2 were only Bond movie references? He is certainly having fun with these Love Music songs!

The film clips are from the 1941 The Marx Brothers movie Hellzapoppin' which was remarkable not only for featuring people of colour but actual Harlem NY NY dancing superstars and building some of the "plot" around them just so they could show off to a movie audience. Frankie Manning (Whitey's Lindy Hoppers), Martha Raye, Dean Collins. A movie about the production of a movie about the (then real and existing) Broadway musical named Hellzapoppin', that quickly falls into chaos. Ren included a history lesson for us in this one, at least to the dancers and old movie buffs.

All 4 are great in different ways- this one has the best lyrics and rapping. Also- i LOVE the bit at the end where Ren goes up and down and up the scale in a really long single breath! You dont see many reactors comment on it so im glad it stood out to you too. I love how he keeps it going till he is totally out of air lol.

On a different note COVID for me was horrendous I was furloughed for months, then I caught COVID and it changed my life, I was fully for working 60 hour weeks, now I am disabled with lung disorder, auto immunity and heart issues to go with COPD and emphysema 🤷♂️
My wife pushes me in a wheelchair to go shopping.
I was living with depression suicidal urges and major anxiety, but REN’s music is such a massive help. I have even got my therapist listening to him lol

Ren can really change lives. His work is just so inspiring! We got covid back in 2021... our kids weren't bothered, just headaches for two days and lost taste and smell for a bit...(they were bouncing off the walls a couple of days after, while we tried to not go nuts lol!) Same with me pretty much, not super sick, but lots of fatigue, headache and nausea, loss of taste and smell... but hubby was REALLY sick and I had to nurse him back to health for about 3 weeks. Thankfully I think we escaped relatively unscathed... but it did take us a while to bounce back. I hope your health continues to improve and you find healing. And God bless you and your wife. 🙏❤

@@waynephillips6779 I think since both of my parents have had tragedies from which they've bounced back, I feel for people who are struggling with their health. My dad has beaten cancer 3 times, as well as a stroke and nearly losing his entire foot when a truck hit him while he was cycling... and my mum had a stroke a couple of years ago. They have both recovered nearly 100%. They were always extremely athletic their entire lives so that probably helped. I have my own issues I deal with, but they don't stop me from living a normal life and I'm grateful for that. We have to enjoy each day because you never know when you won't have another one. 🙏

Philadelphia PA was just as bad as California I was stoped and questioned by police as to why I had no mask on i told him I don't drink cool aid !
That's NUTS! They tried to call the cops on my husband for not wanting to put a mask on our child at Costco. We promptly canceled our membership! Even the manager said, "I don't blame you, it's ridiculous"... but of course he had no say in it, he was trying to keep his job. Sam's Club didn't ask you to wear one... so we go there now lol! I don´t want to be nit-picking/pedantic...but that off beat is no Reggea off beat but a Ska off beat.
"Ska" is so to say "The grandfather of Reggea" when it comes to the time line of development.
Out of "Ska" developed in the 60ties "Rock Steady" which is basically "a slow downed Ska rhythm"..and "Reggea" developed in the 70ties and is so to say a hybrid off beat out of both.
The easiest way to distinguish is "Ska" has always a quick single strum off beat (usually 4 off beats played with 4 single strums per bar) while "Reggea" has always a staccato played double strum off beat when played on guitar (usually 2 off beats per bar as like "Rock Steady" but played with 4 strums="2 double strums" per bar). = As consequence "Ska" is always driving because of having 4 off beats per bar - "Reggea" is more then less chill because of having just 2 off beats per bar but by far not as chill as like "Rock Steady" because of the double strum.
Here in the song there are 4 quick single strum off beats per bar = "driving" = Ska.
I know the difference is subtile but it defines the style.
In his "The big Push" performance of "I shot the Sheriff" Ren switches from "Reggea" into "Rock Steady" into "Ska" back and forth flowless + integrated Blues elements + jazzy Scat + Rap...which is mindblowing.
I grew up with Ska...I just called it a reggae "flavor" since I know he's a fan of reggae as well. In my big push video (I think it was the Road to zion), I mentioned ska. 😉😊👍
