- The Samsung Galaxy S24 series is here. I got brief hands-on time with all three phones, including the 6.8-inch Galaxy S24 Ultra with a new 5X Periscope zoom lens. All three phones' big selling point this year are on-device generative AI features that include photo editing and live two-ways translation.

You are the first reviewer/hands on i watch because you dont blow things you just show it as it is and it seems like an even more boring press release than the iphones... Damn! Nothing new, they even removed the curved screen wich was really good and cool in my opinion...

I'm definitely going to await your full review of this Samsung Galaxy S24 ultra,as it seems like there are some interesting features added, though it's mostly the same as last year's flagship phone.
As for Artificial intelligence, well,I guess it's going to be implemented in many flagship smartphones this year, although,in larger context, there is a reason for this aggressive push for artificial intelligence in technology these days, but that's a deep topic worth its own time.A really good video.

First video for the s24 i watched.
I like the design of the S23U a little better. The display edges of the S24U seem so limiting. I don't see or feel a frame on the side of the S23U. Almost an Infinty pool.
And I'm curious about the 10x 20x, 30x images in the S23U / S24U comparison. The AI fiddling where I have to upload pictures and wait x minutes... that can stay stolen from me. At the moment I tend to stick with the S23U. But let's wait for the first real comparisons. When will they be allowed to take place?

The s24 ultra is finally everything I wanted, flat screen, even and thin bezels, premium materials, best in class software support alongside apple/google, I traded my s22U and skipped the 23U waiting for an upgrade like this one. This is the one to get for me.

I know they claim that it is a few grams lighter but in hand it felt much lighter than my S23 Ultra does. I absolutely love the brushed sides, the whole phone just felt better in hand. I'm very excited for mine to arrive after having some hands on time with it

Any info on what AI functions that will charge a subscription fee later on? Or all of it will require a subscription fee to use at like 2025?
Looking at the camera between lenses the transition is alot smoother
Just checked some other videos and it's only in the preview that's smooth. The actual videos taken when zooming in and out are still very jarring

That should only make you happy youve made the right choise, as s24 is the same as s23 and s23 is the same as s22 and s21 apart from extreme situations and s21 is a piece of crap in comparison to find x7 ultra
@@antongschn yes you of course are right. Doesn't matter when you pull the trigger and finally buy a phone, a day later another model is released. The Oppo is exactly what I need and I am of course happy and so looking forward to it.
I am however surprised that the S24 cameras aren't much, much better.... 🙄😬
After so many years I would’ve liked to see Samsung upgrade the ultra wide and 3x telephoto lenses as well but very happy to see 4k120fps video recording finally. I’m still not confident in the 5x beating the S23 ultra beyond 10x zoom ranges but I’d be happy to be wrong.
Yes, that's actually the upgrade for the Galaxy S25 Series, based on "rumors" and "leaks". A 50MP ultra-wide angle and the 50MP 5x Periscope Telephoto will change to 50MP 3-5x Variable Periscope Telephoto. No need for separate 3x lens

@aldwin360 so we have to wait another year for the phone we were supposed to have gotten yesterday. Samsung is becoming pathetic. The next crapple cash grab company. I think I will be getting either a Huawei / oppo / Huawei / xiaomi instead. Some company who will be giving me actual hardware improvements year on year instead of MERELY software improvements. Even google, notorious for their excellent software processing, gave us improved hardware. Tsk tsk tsk, Sammy should be ashamed of themselves. Also That launch event was cringe af. It looked like it was made by interns

the phone live translation was on honor phone at least 5 yrs ago. I think was on magic 2. they no longer carry that after that model. rarely use it anyway. 😮
Samsung makes really good phones, but they always make the mistake of marketing it for things they didn't implement well, and this tends to overshadow the other merits of the phone. Last year's s23 Ultra is a really compelling phone, rivaling even the newer iPhone 15 because Samsung didn't try to sell it as a do-it-all device. Like the iPhones, it promised little and delivered. I hope they don't start the whole number game with the S24 Ultra.
Thoughts on camera Vs the Vivo X100 Pro global? How's the shutter lag and ability to capture fast moving subjects on the S24U? (an area of weakness on the S23U)

...you always give the most down to earth assessment of the "new shiny thing"! I still like the curve of the screen on the S23U better. Also I have the suspicion that even if the 10X day zoom is similar the lense probably will undeperform the predecessor after 20X-25X... Not to mention that the camera hardware is not at the level of the Oppo... I ll probably wont be upgrading this time... still will love to get that AI summary feature, picture and vid. postprocessing!

Im gonna wait for the day when Ultra cameras can compete with Chinese manufacturers in terms of still photography. For now, I'm good with S23U for maybe 3 more years until S26U or S27U finally gets a meaningful upgrade.

Am i the only one who recalls this feature circle to search using AI, in Huawei P30 Pro ? If not the same, you long press on the screen shows the matching result that's available with the integration of AI.
That slight improvement in the long range zoom was expected and this is the only downside which changed my decision for considering S24Ultra. 😢
I am amazed at all the AI stuff but having had a Pixel for years, I never use them, those that come to the UK, as many do not. The only AI I use is autocorrect and Dictation, and the iPhone, Pixel, and Samsung have been doing that well lately. I have no wish to change my photos; they are a moment in time, and that is what I want.
So, AI is the marketing buzz to hide the rather lacklustre iterative upgrade. As AI will be coming to the S23 line, it is hard to recommend the S24 to anyone who upgrades yearly. You probably will only notice the flat display, and that is subjective. But I have said since the S23 came out that upgrading from an S22 or older is worthwhile as the older devices ran on Samsung-made chips that were less efficient, having worse thermals and less performance.
Can't wait for the camera comparison between Samsung Galaxy s24 ultra and oppo find X7 Ulta soon. I'm about to drop my money one of the two, please help me choose

I can get the same ai features using my capcut pro . They should stop overselling this ai stuff and improve hardware. Disappointed that the s23 and s24 plus still have the same hardware as s22

as for the S24 Ultra, Man it is a step down in camera department. cuz all the lenses are exactly the same except for 5x which has a narrow aperture of 3.4 which at night is no competition for any chinese phone released this year or last year! this is significant cuz we havent even seen the Xiaomi 14 ultra and already the 13 Ultra is better than s24u in every metric!

These AI features are pretty slick. Since I'm an iPhone user, I'm hoping next version of iOS or the next iPhone will have similar features since Apple loves to follow Samsung on features, lol.
unpopular opinion the vivo x100 still has a better camera
I already got the S24 Ultra 512gb for 1225€ (incl. Sales tax). Just 90€ more than the S23 ultra 512. A no brainer for me who is trying to get away from my Pixel 7 Pro asap
