We’ve been all over Thailand for 18 years, it was the first time we had visited Pattaya last January at the end of our holiday, we loved it only for four nights, obviously I’ve got less of a problem with lady drinks because my wife is with me , but we do buy drinks for the girls now and again if they entertain us, but we’ve had bad experiences in Phuket with cheeky ones who expect drinks for nothing and go shitty when you say no, but we’ve decided to spend a month in Pattaya next new year and the rest of January after a few weeks in Vietnam, and before we return to vietnam for the last week of our holiday. We just take the girls with a pinch of salt, if its uncomfortable we leave for another bar, and they lose out , as we both drink expensive drinks 🤷

Great Vlog Webby: Just back having spent 3 weeks in Pattaya and had a great time, its my 10th visit in as many years so I am not new to the scene but not as experienced as some of your other subscribers. . I do believe this is the "business" of the bar scene in Pattaya, Their view "How many drinks can they get out of this guy who has just sat down in the bar" and they dont have any problem aksing for the drinks or dont take no for an answer easily. For me when I visit bars in the evening I go out with that message in mind. I have no problem saying no, or when I do sit down saying I am here to sit and have a drink alone or people watch if thats what I want, If I meet a lady who is nice, friendly, interested in entertaining me through chat, jackpot or connect 4 or jenga or pool and I want that too then I have no problem buying lady drinks, (as long as she doesnt drink faster than me). I do feel sorry for a lot of the girls there who are there I am sure for a variety of reasons but especially those that are there not because they want to but out of necessity, in fact I would sometimes buy a drink for what might not be the prettiest girl in the bar. I take that into account when budgetting my holiday so its not a big suprise for me, Interestingly though I had 4 nights in BKK and did not find the same pressure to buy lady drinks as in Pattaya, keep up the vlogs and look forward to your g.f.f's view in a couple of weeks,

Agree with lady drinks, I got caught in a drinks trap, I had bought a girl a LD and then I checked bin only for the owner to offer me a drink, drink came and sad eyes came on the bar girl, so that free drink cost me 150 baht ... Best value for money is in le poste , 140 for the LD and the girls top comes off and the hands are all over the place. But totally agree with you, why the hell buy a girl a lady drink. Better off buying a nice meal, least you will enjoy it

Was there for a month last Xmas and NY, I try to limit my lady drinks to the ones I want company with and if they are showing me a good time (joking, playing games, listening to music etc), I decline the attempts of those who ask for drinks in the second sentence (however still occasionally get caught out with old 'friends' who leave their lady drink and bugger off to someone else's table lol! Every day is a learning day! Saving hard for this Christmas / NY lol.
This has been ongoing problem especially this year. There are a lot of girls who won't go out with customers or make "period" excuses. Mamasan now collects money all upfront including ST LT- this is now standard practice which was unheard of. Due to labor shortage, bar/ agogo owners started to fill up staff with someone who will only drink with customers.

That's so true about the "I don't go with customers" women. There are far more now. On a recent trip, two women both gave me the "I'll go with you tomorrow" story. I returned the next night, and each time, they ignored my "Can we go now" questions. Each of them finally gave in and went with me, reluctantly. I had too many beers in me the first nights, so I was OK with them turning down. Next time, I need to -- A) Not drink so much -- B) Ask them early if they barfine.

They should do something to let customers know up front if they barfine (go with customers). They could use red/green name tags or something like that. Some customers have no interest in barfines and some of the girls also have no interest. This would help to make sure neither is disappointed later on.
I watched a mate of mine buy a girl 4x lady drinks in Soi 6 of all places only to find out she did not go with customer but was eye candy to draw customers into the establishment. I advised him to ask on about the second drink but he told me it was a sure thing - he has lived in Thailand more than 20 years & thought he knew best. This was pre-covid. I'm a great believer in voting with your feet, there's usually a good reason y some bars get all the customers and 90% of bars get 1 or 2 all night. The ones that are constantly busy, are probably fair prices and no scams or high pressure girls
It used to be only the GoGo bars were like that. I remember my first trip to Pattaya and I went to mostly GoGo bars because they had the best looking women. Attractive girls would come over and you buy them a drink and after a few minutes I would ask about a bar fine only for them to tell me they wouldn't go with customers outside of the bar. The ones that did go with me were star fish for the most part. And some I wanted to bar fine, the mama san said they didn't want to go with me. because of my age. They liked the younger Korean and Chinese guys. Guys that were in their 20's and couldn't get any ass in their own country.
My advice would be if you get offered a drink, dont accept as it will save you the hassle of them expecting you to buy them one back. I love pattaya also 😂. Great vlog mate.
You've gotta "coach" them. I choose a daytime local every time I go to Patts. This year it was a small bar on soi 7 Jomtien. The girls learn that when I come into the bar I want a wet towel and neck massage. Within a few days they are falling over themselves knowing that I'll buy the lucky girl a couple of lady drinks.
I would not call the drinks being added to the bill new or a trick. It's been happening for years and is just rude service and a sign that you should not drink in that bar.
If it’s a high pressure establishment where the girls are swooping in on me or congregating near me, i’ll just pick one and buy her a drink. That usually causes the crowd to scuttle off. I then inform the lucky lady that “i’m happy to buy you this drink, but i’m going to have a look around. I might choose someone else to sit, and if i do, i’ll leave you a tip. If i see someone else i like i’ll wave her over, dismiss girl #1, slip 100 baht in her hand, and that’s it. Never had a problem.

Bangla road Phuket 1st holiday to Thailand. I was with a bargirl and agreed to go to a nightclub with her (longtime). It was late bar closing and she had lost her lady drink tickets, she was angry with the manager. Anyway they found her tickets the value was 2800baht, with her wages of 1400baht she made 4200baht. The plans to come with me went out the window, she need to go home to sleep.... Why would they go with you, while they get so much money from lady drinks...
I bought two girls a couple of drinks in a bar in Chiangmai because it was quiet and I thought I’d help them out a bit. When the bill came they had charged me 200 baht for each drink, I questioned it and the girl says it was a double, I told you that. Absolute bullshit, I paid the bill and walked out cos it’s not worth arguing, but I learnt to check my check bin after that. 😮
Webby, your comments ring true. The girls make more money from drinks than being bar fined and they really milk their customers. The best experiences I have found is Soi 6. You can buy a drink with a girl at a bar then you are guaranteed for a ST within the 30 minutes, at affordable prices and there are many stunners there. Most Gents Clubs and Soi 6 are the best value for money. Like you, I love Pattaya, but you have to have your wits about you or else your wallet will be fleeced big time.

I can say last time I was back was in november 2022 and the new Soi 6 managers had gotten into a bad habit of coming straight over and offering a shot. Im sorry I dont like to do shots second I dont know you so why are you buying me a drink. I have quiet a few bar managers that are my friends and that friendship never started with them offering me a drink it started with us talking about different things after I was done having fun with a lady. One thing is that they expect you to buy a LD but second off its to get you drunk so you spend money faster. When Im in Pattaya Im not there to get drunk Im there to have a good time and be sober (3-6 beers per night) to enjoy some nice femal company.

Rule of thumb. Dont accept anything anyone offers for free. Unless youve already spent at the place, I dont understand why would you get so comfortable at a place to accept all this stuff. There are three behind the scene problems: overseas jobs, mainly Middle East, which pay more and are mostly non exploitative now; Thai standard of living is higher and expectations are higher; and everyone owes money from the Covid unemployment period. In terms of your current experiences you are right to complain. Hustling was the same back in 1980’s Patpong though. If anything I’ve gotten more understanding of the bars position.

I've found that the bars frequented by expats have fewer problems with the girls than the ones populated by tourists. The girl" buying you a drink " thing is new to me. The first I heard of it was from managers in a large bar group on Soi 6 pulling that stunt on unsuspecting customers who are often from the UK where buying rounds is more common than in North America. "Manager drinks" apparently are more expensive than lady drinks, so be sure to ask the bastard to wipe you down with a cold towel(pa yen in Thai) and duck when you ask him. That's a nice shirt. What I do is Sit in any Bar I like the look of, get 1 Chang, suss out the environment, If any pestering for drinks starts pay, leave if i want to I buy someone a drink I will. Go to the next bar, Loads to choose from, Soon learn your favs. You are right though, Good observation of lady bar styles. I enjoy the girls conversations sometimes, Lovely people to chat too normally. Difference is I have an Amazing Thai Lady My wife of 7 years who does not like the Bars, Waiting for me at home, She is an accountant and never been on that scene. She is awesome and Beautful . I think it's "some percentage" of the bars operating like that. I'd like to think it's not more than 50% of them, but it's probable 70-80% now. I think you just have to find to the 30% or so that are still more laid-back to hang out.
I have been to Pattaya many times and never experienced that. However thanks for the heads up as I'll be back in January. One thing I would say is my son has a bar down new plaza and if any of his staff tied that I'm sure they'd get their arse kicked and be looking for a new job.
ive been going pattaya 20 odd years now, i think the first 2 or 3 years the rate was nearly 70bht to pound we were young and never cared about spending, it all seemed so cheap, it was only about 2/3 years that i knew the lady drinks cost more than ours as i picked up a girl from bar to take her walking street so we had 1 drink in her bar b4 i had a singha she had a small shot of orange juice, when i check bin thats when i found out as mamasan shown me small print on menu, so i see how it works u pay for her time chatting, ive always thought the prices should be the same as they would get alot more drinks, our local was tims go go opposite our hotel we loved it, but even bk then they pushed shots and ping pong balls on u about every 15mins, i had girl in bar like u asking non stop for a drink, i just didnt bother going in again, they dont realize its bad for future custom but they only ever think of here and now,, the best thing for me now is thai friendly and not paying silly money on bar girls drinks and fines, im more picky now where i drjnk where i dont get too much hassle

What you have said it's absolutely spot on, I spent a extra 3k last December compared to pre covid due to drink queen's and high girl prices, Pattaya is one big con now especially high season, i think this high season will be even worse and prices will be higher due to a quiet low season now, I will be giving Pattaya a wide birth this December and trying Vietnam and Cambodia instead
I'm thinking the best thing that an expat or tourist can do when they get in those situations is to just leave and not come back to that particular bar. I mean...if you're going to a bar girl bar, then you should expect them to harass you, but if you go to a drinking pub, it's probably better? I've never been to Pattaya, but have been to Angeles City, Philippines..so I'm thinking it's somewhat similar. By the way...Great video and very informative.

We’ve been all over Thailand for 18 years, it was the first time we had visited Pattaya last January at the end of our holiday, we loved it only for four nights, obviously I’ve got less of a problem with lady drinks because my wife is with me , but we do buy drinks for the girls now and again if they entertain us, but we’ve had bad experiences in Phuket with cheeky ones who expect drinks for nothing and go shitty when you say no, but we’ve decided to spend a month in Pattaya next new year and the rest of January after a few weeks in Vietnam, and before we return to vietnam for the last week of our holiday. We just take the girls with a pinch of salt, if its uncomfortable we leave for another bar, and they lose out , as we both drink expensive drinks 🤷
I'm with you on that, that bar made me feel like I shouldn't be in there just because I wouldn't buy a drink back, I don't want to pay lady drinks for my beer.

Great Vlog Webby: Just back having spent 3 weeks in Pattaya and had a great time, its my 10th visit in as many years so I am not new to the scene but not as experienced as some of your other subscribers. . I do believe this is the "business" of the bar scene in Pattaya, Their view "How many drinks can they get out of this guy who has just sat down in the bar" and they dont have any problem aksing for the drinks or dont take no for an answer easily. For me when I visit bars in the evening I go out with that message in mind. I have no problem saying no, or when I do sit down saying I am here to sit and have a drink alone or people watch if thats what I want, If I meet a lady who is nice, friendly, interested in entertaining me through chat, jackpot or connect 4 or jenga or pool and I want that too then I have no problem buying lady drinks, (as long as she doesnt drink faster than me). I do feel sorry for a lot of the girls there who are there I am sure for a variety of reasons but especially those that are there not because they want to but out of necessity, in fact I would sometimes buy a drink for what might not be the prettiest girl in the bar. I take that into account when budgetting my holiday so its not a big suprise for me, Interestingly though I had 4 nights in BKK and did not find the same pressure to buy lady drinks as in Pattaya, keep up the vlogs and look forward to your g.f.f's view in a couple of weeks,

Agree with lady drinks, I got caught in a drinks trap, I had bought a girl a LD and then I checked bin only for the owner to offer me a drink, drink came and sad eyes came on the bar girl, so that free drink cost me 150 baht ... Best value for money is in le poste , 140 for the LD and the girls top comes off and the hands are all over the place. But totally agree with you, why the hell buy a girl a lady drink. Better off buying a nice meal, least you will enjoy it

Was there for a month last Xmas and NY, I try to limit my lady drinks to the ones I want company with and if they are showing me a good time (joking, playing games, listening to music etc), I decline the attempts of those who ask for drinks in the second sentence (however still occasionally get caught out with old 'friends' who leave their lady drink and bugger off to someone else's table lol! Every day is a learning day! Saving hard for this Christmas / NY lol.

This has been ongoing problem especially this year. There are a lot of girls who won't go out with customers or make "period" excuses. Mamasan now collects money all upfront including ST LT- this is now standard practice which was unheard of. Due to labor shortage, bar/ agogo owners started to fill up staff with someone who will only drink with customers.
If you work in a bar only for girl drinks, then they should say and not dress in sexy clothes

That's so true about the "I don't go with customers" women. There are far more now. On a recent trip, two women both gave me the "I'll go with you tomorrow" story. I returned the next night, and each time, they ignored my "Can we go now" questions. Each of them finally gave in and went with me, reluctantly. I witnessed the buying lady drinks then being told they don't barfine and it's defeating the object of buying lady drinks. So yeah I'll be asking in future before spending on unnecessary drinks. They should do something to let customers know up front if they barfine (go with customers). They could use red/green name tags or something like that. Some customers have no interest in barfines and some of the girls also have no interest. This would help to make sure neither is disappointed later on.

I'm a great believer in voting with your feet, there's usually a good reason y some bars get all the customers and 90% of bars get 1 or 2 all night. The ones that are constantly busy, are probably fair prices and no scams or high pressure girls

It used to be only the GoGo bars were like that. I remember my first trip to Pattaya and I went to mostly GoGo bars because they had the best looking women. Attractive girls would come over and you buy them a drink and after a few minutes I would ask about a bar fine only for them to tell me they wouldn't go with customers outside of the bar. The ones that did go with me were star fish for the most part. And some I wanted to bar fine, the mama san said they didn't want to go with me. because of my age. They liked the younger Korean and Chinese guys. Guys that were in their 20's and couldn't get any ass in their own country.

You've gotta "coach" them. I choose a daytime local every time I go to Patts. This year it was a small bar on soi 7 Jomtien. The girls learn that when I come into the bar I want a wet towel and neck massage. Within a few days they are falling over themselves knowing that I'll buy the lucky girl a couple of lady drinks.

If it’s a high pressure establishment where the girls are swooping in on me or congregating near me, i’ll just pick one and buy her a drink. That usually causes the crowd to scuttle off. I then inform the lucky lady that “i’m happy to buy you this drink, but i’m going to have a look around. I might choose someone else to sit, and if i do, i’ll leave you a tip.
If i see someone else i like i’ll wave her over, dismiss girl #1, slip 100 baht in her hand, and that’s it.

Bangla road Phuket 1st holiday to Thailand.
I was with a bargirl and agreed to go to a nightclub with her (longtime).
It was late bar closing and she had lost her lady drink tickets, she was angry with the manager.
Anyway they found her tickets the value was 2800baht, with her wages of 1400baht she made 4200baht.

When the bill came they had charged me 200 baht for each drink, I questioned it and the girl says it was a double, I told you that.

Webby, your comments ring true. The girls make more money from drinks than being bar fined and they really milk their customers. The best experiences I have found is Soi 6. You can buy a drink with a girl at a bar then you are guaranteed for a ST within the 30 minutes, at affordable prices and there are many stunners there. Most Gents Clubs and Soi 6 are the best value for money. Like you, I love Pattaya, but you have to have your wits about you or else your wallet will be fleeced big time.

I can say last time I was back was in november 2022 and the new Soi 6 managers had gotten into a bad habit of coming straight over and offering a shot.
Im sorry I dont like to do shots second I dont know you so why are you buying me a drink.
I have quiet a few bar managers that are my friends and that friendship never started with them offering me a drink it started with us talking about different things after I was done having fun with a lady.
One thing is that they expect you to buy a LD but second off its to get you drunk so you spend money faster. When Im in Pattaya Im not there to get drunk Im there to have a good time and be sober (3-6 beers per night) to enjoy some nice femal company.

In terms of your current experiences you are right to complain. Hustling was the same back in 1980’s Patpong though. If anything I’ve gotten more understanding of the bars position.

I've found that the bars frequented by expats have fewer problems with the girls than the ones populated by tourists. The girl" buying you a drink " thing is new to me. The first I heard of it was from managers in a large bar group on Soi 6 pulling that stunt on unsuspecting customers who are often from the UK where buying rounds is more common than in North America. "Manager drinks" apparently are more expensive than lady drinks, so be sure to ask the bastard to wipe you down with a cold towel(pa yen in Thai) and duck when you ask him.

What I do is Sit in any Bar I like the look of, get 1 Chang, suss out the environment, If any pestering for drinks starts pay, leave if i want to I buy someone a drink I will. Go to the next bar, Loads to choose from, Soon learn your favs. You are right though, Good observation of lady bar styles.

ive been going pattaya 20 odd years now, i think the first 2 or 3 years the rate was nearly 70bht to pound we were young and never cared about spending, it all seemed so cheap, it was only about 2/3 years that i knew the lady drinks cost more than ours as i picked up a girl from bar to take her walking street so we had 1 drink in her bar b4 i had a singha she had a small shot of orange juice, when i check bin thats when i found out as mamasan shown me small print on menu, so i see how it works u pay for her time chatting, ive always thought the prices should be the same as they would get alot more drinks, our local was tims go go opposite our hotel we loved it, but even bk then they pushed shots and ping pong balls on u about every 15mins, i had girl in bar like u asking non stop for a drink, i just didnt bother going in again, they dont realize its bad for future custom but they only ever think of here and now,, the best thing for me now is thai friendly and not paying silly money on bar girls drinks and fines, im more picky now where i drjnk where i dont get too much hassle

@@welshboywebby i think its designed for the tourist not to know too much and how to maximize profit, i remember i was going walking street but stopped at the bodega bar for a drink i was young new shirt cash on hip, the mamasan served me and kept trying to match me up with the girls in there, i said im ok im off walking street later and will find my own, then it pissed it down non stop, so i stayed there drinking with her she was drinking gin and telling me about how she was not lucky when her english boyfriend died and never left her any money, we bought each other drinks all night then she said maybe i come ur room tonight, she was older than my usuall but fit enough so i said ok no problem, when she told girls she was bar fined they couldnt believe it as i doubt shed been with customer b4, the only downside was the bar fine was double ha ha u just cant win can u
Was just in Lepub and fortunately none of this dodgy stuff happened even got the cold towel and massage etc but definitely seen this more and more

What you have said it's absolutely spot on, I spent a extra 3k last December compared to pre covid due to drink queen's and high girl prices, Pattaya is one big con now especially high season, i think this high season will be even worse and prices will be higher due to a quiet low season now, I will be giving Pattaya a wide birth this December and trying Vietnam and Cambodia instead

I'm thinking the best thing that an expat or tourist can do when they get in those situations is to just leave and not come back to that particular bar. I mean...if you're going to a bar girl bar, then you should expect them to harass you, but if you go to a drinking pub, it's probably better? I've never been to Pattaya, but have been to Angeles City, Philippines..so I'm thinking it's somewhat similar. By the way...Great video and very informative.
I'm 50/50 on this, hassle is one thing, but keeping on and on when you have made it clear you don't want to buy them one, the last month or so they have been a lot better, think its finally sinking in.

Its much better to chat to massage ladies, waitresses, cleaning ladies. Less hassle, you can actually have a genuine conversation. The whole idea of buying lady drinks just seems a waste of time, its demoralizing. Paying money for the privilege of a women talking to you for a few minutes is just so wrong.

Best just stick to the bars youre comfortable in, know the girls and know that you wont get scammed. As you know, for every bar that 'try it on' there are half a dozen others who respect you and look after you without any pressure
