I adopted a senior dog who had been neglected her whole life. She is my treasure now. Living her best life. She is dearly loved now.💗
Nobody or nothing is too old to receive love and compassion. Thank you Rocky.
People who adopt seniors are the people who truly love dogs.
I adopted a senior dog…with cancer. I took her home then to my vet who operated on 2 tumors. She was given 12-18 months to live. I adopted her because I couldn’t bare to think that she would just die in the shelter. I had her just short of a year, 😢 but I know it was the best year of her life. And while it killed me when she died, I was grateful I was able to give her some happiness.
And like they say , I bet you would do it all over again if u had the choice, right. ??
What a great lady you are! How wonderful that you helped her have such a good life in the end! Great respect for you!
I have a niece that only adopts older or special needs dogs. These are the dogs nobody adopts. She even took her grandpa's dog when he could no longer care for him. She is an angel, and I am so proud of her.🤗
God bless your niece!! That is such a special thing she is doing. ❤
Thank you for praising your niece - she deserves it - someone to be proud of ! 🌞
Does your niece have an organisation that is listed as a charity? It is easy to donate to a charity rather than to an individual. I think it is a blessing to donate to loving folk who are willing to give their time to service special needs animals. I cannot look after a pet but I love animals and would happily like to support the organisations who can help these animals. Sincerely. 🇬🇧❤🇬🇧
@@sherrylawrencelewis2544 There are lots of great animal non-profits our there. I know the top one is always the ASPCA. Also The Humane Society and World Wildlife fund are also very good.
I adopted a senior dog with skin issues, heart worms, and entropion. He was supposed to live a few weeks, but lived 16 more months, puttering around the property until he had a stroke. I'd 100% do it again.
I adopted a senior bunny who, two weeks after getting home nearly died. He was really sick. Fluffy boy is here over a year later, despite trying to die two more times! Today the sneaky bastard tried to zoom into the bedroom and find pretzel crumbs. The shelter workers talked about him like Harmon. They would have taken him home themselves if they could, and they were flabbergasted he'd stayed as long as he had. I regret nothing. This old menace is mine now.
It is never too late to adopt a senior dog! Three years ago, I adopted a 13 year old terrier named Baby Girl. She was amazing! Traveled across country with me in my vehicle and was a real trooper. She would run zoomies around the house despite her age. No training needed and you go in knowing you may not have quantity of years but the quality of love is beyond understanding❤️
You better believe it sister. My wife's uncle wanted to have his dog put down when he died. Thank the lord we didn't do that. We got 8 years of loving out of that sweet girl before she had to go painlessly. My wife and I miss her very much we even saved some of her fur that I sewed into a stole for the wife and we got tuns of pics. ?She was our daughter.
I adopted a (9) yr. old Jack Russell, he died @ (18) yrs. old in his Vet's office with me singing very poorly to him: "I'VE BEEN LOVING YOU TOO LONG TO STOP NOW"...brought the house DOWN!!!!!! Sampson died in peace and love. His portrait hangs in the living room to this day!
I adopted an 8 year old Golden Retriever years ago who had a bad cataract in his eye. My 2 children, in fact all of us loved Ranger so much. He was so sweet. My children grew up with this wonderful dog. One day, he was in the sleep position, and he had died. It was the most terrible day. We all cried. Our vet sent use white roses. He was cremated. No other dog could replace our Ranger ever. He was 15 years old when he went to spirit. I still think about him, and remember him with love. Rescue dogs are the best gift. Be kind and rescue a dog. He could be your amazing gift💖🙏Sara
I adopted Sandy in 2014. Her age was "10+." She died in 2022, well-loved. It was a great experience.
Adopting a senior is a double edged sword but I choose to adopt seniors. I've had nine good byes with my seniors. I currently have three old girls. When they cross the rainbow bridge, I wouldn't hesitate to adopt again. I know that I am giving them comfort, care, love and acceptance to the very end. As Rocky said, "It's about them." it isn't about us.
As a senior myself, it is NEVER too late. Dreams come true.
I just adopted a dog that everybody overlooked because he was super shy. He is the kindest lover dog ever. I'm so happy. Don't be afraid to get a shy dog.
As a kid, I adopted a shy cat. It was private. A friend had to get rid of a cat, I wanted any cat. I'd say 4 legged but I would have taken a no legged cat that's how much I wanted one! Sometimes I'd picture this mostly black cat in a shelter and I knew it would have gone poorly for her. She lived under our couch for the first month and we weren't in a stressful place like a shelter! She lived to 17. Kindest girl ever.
How do people leave their pets and walk away? They love you, they depend on you. They’re like your kids, they can’t take care of themselves. You are their world. How would you feel if your mom had just walked away from you and left forever?
Sure some folks are just irresponsible and uncaring, but we can never know what hardships other folks are suffering with:
dementia, loss of a family member, loss of a job, homelessness, etc, etc. Compassion for humans too, please.
They're not gonna get it till either, they go thru it, or God makes them go thru it. Ik, it sucks. A lot of ppl just don't get it. No, they don't. Yup, ik. Ik very much.
Why are you talking to people who ate Evil and Don't care about anyone or dogs...except themselves!!! But they will get old and KARMA is a bitch
Agreed, my pets are my children, it's makes it so heartbreaking when I lose them but it's so worth it. I cherish them in their old age, I cannot understand how other people don't.
@@sarahdee374stop excusing these wretched filthy people. There is absolutely NO excuse for this. NOTHING can excuse being this irresponsible.
😢 I can't believe that people discard, abandon or give away a fur baby just because they get old. She is absolutely precious and she deserves a loving forever home ❤❤ would the people who gave up on this adorable fur baby discard of a family member? This precious girl was a family member who more than likely gave unconditional love 😢 I pray that every fur baby you showed today finds a forever home 🏡 ❤️1
i think this too, and certainly loathe kill shelters with the fury of a thousand suns, every one should be shut down. but - one million people just died of covid. those people never went home and thats a lot of well loved pets who suddenly have nowhere to go. people cant find housing due to the housing shortage. they are losing their homes and again, well loved pets are voluntarily surrendered. there were so many our local shelter wont even take voluntary surrender anymore. thats how much its happening. its a loathesome crime but just think how many animals are given to shelters when their owners heart is breaking but they love their pet and want them to have a good home... its not always neglect.
@garyallen8824 😔 yes is true a s is absolutely understandable but I was referring to those who don't care about their fur babies, people like that don't see them as family
Having been around some of those people, I'd say yes, they do discard friends and family members, pretty regularly and self-righteously.
A few years ago we went looking for a puppy for my daughter didn’t find any but the people from the rescue were sitting in camping chairs nd I saw an older dog inner the chair I sat down she can right to me and I fell in love with her. She was 12 yrs old had been in the shelter for over a year. She d missing a couple of toes she’d had heartworm and a few other issues. We took her home and my wife, daughter and myself spoiled her for her last 3 years of her life. We like to think we made her last few years her best! I always look for older dogs when we decide we need another.
Dawn is a real sweetie !!!!
I love all dogs, but a few months ago I adopted a twelve-year-old dog and it was one of the best decisions.
I have two 10 year old bull terriers and it breaks my heart to see Dawn so scared and confused. She needs to be on a comfy bed with kind people who she can trust so she won't be so scared. Thank you for sitting with her
You're so right. Just when they need their family, they're abandoned. They probably do the same thing with their grandma. Love them more for what they've been thru.
I just recently acquired a 13/14 year old chihuahua that needed to be rehomed. Being older she was a perfect fit for me, best decision I have ever made!
My husband and I adopted two senior dogs and the male passed after six months with us I was sad but knowing he left feeling love outweighed my sadness. The female has been with us for two and a half years now and I highly recommend senior dogs.
Poor terrior. They are so playful and lovable. She deserves adoption.😢
I've owned many dogs and they were all rescues or given to me. Now that I'm an old lady I only rescue adults and seniors. I know I won't have them for very long but I also know that they're going to have the best life they can. I really don't understand how somebody can give up an 11 or 12 year old dog.
HOW can anyone just abandoned their 12 yr old dog after she has given them the best years of her life ? Humans don’t deserve dogs and cats. Thank u so much for loving her and telling her she is so precious and gorgeous❤
Senior dogs are so incredibly awesome! I have adopted multiple seniors and every one was worth the immense pain endured when they did pass.
How do you handle the vet bills? We lost our girl last year and between surgeries and medications we spent well over 10k. I just wouldn't want to adopt and not be able to provide the medical care they deserve...
@@sarap5015atleast you didn't give up dogs can understand when you try to help
I hope you can still get this post. I also have/had massive vet bills that could have ended my pets lives. I found a company called 'CareCredit' that is used for vets only services-even special foods. It is fee and interest free for up to a year depending on the charge and vet hospital(vets must be on their program, but many more are using this company). Honestly, this company has now saved three of my animals from euthanasia because of having no funds to pay for their care. Please look into it!!@@sarap5015
@@sarap5015 I have had a few older dogs, for meds I use homeopathics (my ND said animals do well with them generally) and use my true rife for a lot of his long standing health issues. A lot of sick dogs get better fast with real, unprocessed food for dogs so I consider that a necessity. You can make your own too. (Like farmers dog etc) Surgeries or emergencies I use care credit.
I have thought about adopting more senior dogs in the future, but I'm not currently in a mental health place where I can handle their passing. But the biggest kudos and love to you for all that you do for senior animals.
I knew an acquaintance who had a dog who looks exactly like this, and the young-ish owner passed away from cancer. She loved her dog and kept good care of it and even took her to work. You never know the dog’s story.
Edit: oh wow. I just heard the part where you took her (Dawn) in. Thank you for doing this. She looked so sad and bewildered.
A bit of vet work, and some time in the Rocky den should lift her spirits exponentially. Perhaps, in the meantime, a family will come along that wants to make her their VIP (Very Important Pup 🐕).
FOR THOSE THAT WANT TO ADOPT AND AREN'T LOCAL:
Please reach out to rescue organizations in your area so they can tag and transport them!
You can then foster-to-adopt them ❤️🐕/🐈 (the shelter is called animal friends of the valley, and is located in southern California!)
Thank you rocky for what you do!
God bless all people who helps, adopts, love and takes care of dogs.
I want Dawn!!! SERIOUSLY!!! I WANT TO GIVE HER A LOVING HOME RIGHT NOW FOR HER REMAINING TIME!!! 🐾💖🐾
If you aren't local, please reach out to rescue organizations in your area so they can tag and transport her!
You can then foster-to-adopt her ❤️🐕
I will donate to help with her vetting. I have 3 big dogs, including a female pittie that wouldn't accept her.
No one is too old to love, wish Dawn all the best❤
For me being a dog lover I want to cry so badly.....I hope that Dawn will get the best owner he could think of.🙏♥♥♥
HOW ON EARTH IS VINCE STILL THERE? I’m SO confused! HE’S PERFECT!
I want to tell people that black cats make wonderful pets. My black cat Raven that I had for almost 19 years just passed a few months back. I was devastated. I just recently went to a shelter and came home with another black cat. It wasn't planned to find another black one, I just loved her personality. Addy is the perfect cat for me and I love her so much. 🐈⬛😺
I had my black cat, Mousky for almost 19 years too, she was my heart. I’m sorry for your loss.
I've had a black female cat for 5 years I've named moma.ik very generic name but she's loyal to me to a tee. She's always with me no matter where or what I'm doing. Black cats are not bad luck there just cats.and love you just the same.❤❤❤
We had a black cat we found in a parking lot when I was a teenager, his name was Sooty and he lived to be 18. I'd love to have another but we can't have any cats where we live.
I’ve got a bull terrier and my heart breaks seeing this. They are the clowns of the world with so much love!
I love that you are going to take Dawn-- thank you . I believe there are two kinds of animal owners in this world. People who get animals to make themselves feel better and people who adopt animals to give the animals a better life. Be the latter. They will still make your life better too!
Love Bull Terriers - I would take Dawn in a second! My neighbor lost his 7 year old Bull Terrier to cancer this year and that dog made my heart sing.
What an angel. If I could adopt another dog, I'd adopt that bull terrier.
Please do keep us updated on Dawn? Sure wish I could have her. Praying she'll get adopted into a loving home soon.
Thank you, Rocky, for bringing Dawn home. Is that what you’re doing? I’ll be watching for updates. 💕🙏🏼💕
2 months later, have y'all seen an update on her?? My heart broke for the poor girl! 😭
I had a ginger tabby, Ollie. He was rescued as a kitten from a drain pike in which he was living. He loved us totally. He was a dog cat in that he would come in from the field when called and cuddle up just like a dog. Ginger tabbies are excellent loving cats.
I'm more of a dog person, but have had cats too. Black cats are my favorite. I think they're beautiful. My heart just breaks for that bull terrier. I prayed for her to find a loving home for the time she has left. I just watched the end of your video. You took her home! Thank you! God bless you!
Every bull terrier I've met has been an absolute sweetheart. I'd adopt her if I was locals.
I have 2 cats, but I would adopt her if she lived in Columbus, Ohio 😂❤.
I'm so glad that doorstep puppy, Harmon, Tails, Shelby, and Freddy got adopted! They deserve it! 😄 I just hope the other dogs and cats get adopted as well. 🤞
I adopted a senior dog, that had come from a puppy mill. No-one wanted her due her age. I have had her since 2015 and she is now 17 years. I love her so much and she gives so much love. Yes, she does have some health problems, but the love we have between us is a special bond.
We are part of a dog rescue & always foster the senior dogs because we know they don't always get adopted, BUT....they live a life of luxury here with us! We currently have 9 dogs, 1 black cat....& various other critters. Animals ENRICH our lives.
Rocky i really want Vince. I live in SC and will be happy to meet half way to get him. My heart breaks for the older dogs and those who are not deemed "a good fit".
Dawn needed your love, Rocky. She LOVED lap time; maybe been a LONG time since she felt that 👍.
I absolutely love bull terriers. I don’t understand how anyone can just abandon a dog no matter what age or breed. All dogs deserve an amazing home. If I could, I would adopt this poor girl💜
Thank you for taking in Dawn. Senior dogs are so important and have so much love to give. You too, lead by example. Much love to you always, Rocky.
This poor little dog has been through so much
Rocky, you are such an amazing person! You deserve the world ❤
I feel so bad for Dawn and Vince. They are both gorgeous and seem so sweet
We rescued/adopted a 10 yr old dog and yes, we thought oh he hasn't got many yrs left BUT then thought exactly as Rocky said and he is now having the best time ever :) He is 13 now and suffering seizures but we love him and are taking great care of him. Sad he hasn't long left on earth but he is happy, loved by us and is such a smart and loving dog, that what I will remember.
My r escued Carolina dig started having random seizures when she was 15 and she was over 18 when we had to let her go. The seizure needs affected her back legs but we both adapted and she was in good spirits those extra years we had. Good luck to you both.
I feel extremely sorry for all the dogs that are in the shelter after what they have been through Rocky, you and your team are such Good Samaritans for them bless you and them and bless all you’ve done for the dogs.
That poor little girl. How can someone do this!
I had a 17 year old Bichon Frise who will always be my heart. He passed on August of this year. Iwouldn't have traded him for the world. For all those years he gave my husband and I unconditional love, loyalty and pure joy. I truly beleive these animals are God's gift to the world. RIP my little "B.J." Life isnot the same without you.
I always adopt seniors. They are so worth it. ❤
If I had a ranch and could take any animal I would adopt all of the cats and dogs and give them an awesome place to live.
I'm between flabbergasted and heartbroken that Vince is still in the shelter. 💔 He's such a cutie ❤. I would take him in a heartbeat. Love from Germany 🇩🇪
@morbidmanmusic that's difficult and costly. The EU is quite strict with animal imports. And such a long trip would be very stressful on the dog.
No dog to old no dog to young no cat to old no cat to young that Rocky can't help these vids just melts my it's so sad but u can always make dog's/cats feel loved ur the best!!! 😊
I’ve got to say, Tails looked like she had been with her new family all her life, what lovely people ❤.
My heart breaks for these dogs when I watch these videos💔
Hopefully the 12 year old dog will find a loving family ❤🐕❤
i didn't want to cry today, but seeing you kiss and love that old girl broke my heart. you are a good man!
It breaks my heart that Vince is still there! GSDs don't typically do well in shelters long term! He's such a gorgeous dog! Hope someone adopts him soon!
Became a member of Rocky's very special community some time ago It's really heartwarming to see the level of love poured on these souls and uniting them with loving families. Fingers crossed for Dawn, please keep us all up to date with her progress and recovery. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
I love the Bull Terrier breed, they are such loveable, goofy dogs. I feel for Dawn, she needs love and affection. I am on my third Bull Terrier, he (Booster) is eight and love him to bits. This video has both my kind of fur babies. I am on my first black cat, Koal and he is such a crackhead but so loving. Thank you Rocky for these videos highlighting the needs of these pets. I have adopted a pet from Friends of the Valley they are a great organization. Thank you for your work.
I felt so abandoned as a child. Such a reward when an animal opens up.
Rocky, the saddest part of seeing an older dog in a shelter you know that they get looked over. Most people want a puppy or younger dog
Thank you for giving her attention.
I wish everyone would be like Rocky ❤
This is awesome! Thank you for showing love to older animals!
Absolutely not too old to love or be loved. ❤ So sad for elder dogs.
I cried for Dawn and Vince. So glad you are taking one of them home. ❤
Thank you!
Epic I like this dog
Thank you so much for also bringing awareness to senior dogs ❤😊🙏🏼 Dawn is adorable and I just saw your story with senior chihuahua Chiquita that you showered with love before she crossed rainbow bridge just few days later. Chiquita got to experience your love and attention and I’m sure that was a huge relief ❤❤❤ You are awesome 🙏🏼💖
Of all the rescues I have owned or fostered in the past 35 years, our English Bull terrier Dolly was the most gentle, clever, obedient and loving out of them all. She had lost an eye to cancer and sadly the cancer returned, we only had her for a year but she made such an impact on not just us but everyone who met her. So happy that Dawn will know love and happiness in her twilight years, all dogs should be loved for life.
Senior dogs are just as lovable also somebody please adopt vince.
I so wish I could adopt Dawn!
Aw, heartbreaking. NO animal is to old to love.. I don't understand how people don't understand that. Your are such a special person, God bless you❤
Thank you for taking Dawn home! If I could I would take all of them. Thank you and your wife for doing what you do. Love your videos!
While I do LOVE my doggies, kitties are just my spirit animal. Thank you so much for starting to "sit with cats"and for helping Dawn! ❤
P.S. I had a black kitty growing up and she was the most beautiful, sweetest girl EVER!
I have two cats - one black, the other white with tabby splotches. We adopted them both as kittens from a cat rescue organization. The woman who fostered the black kitten told me how happy she was we were adopting a black cat because they are much harder to adopt out. He is a very sweet, affectionate kitty. From what I understand, it is more difficult to out black dogs as well.
God bless u....and I hope dawn finds her forever home ❤
Thank you Rocky for taking Dawn. I am praying for the best for both of you!
Never too old for love
No, elderly dogs or cats are great. Amazing what you do. Thank you so much to work out a plan for Dawn.. 🤍👍I hope all dogs and cats get adopted soon. No matter what age...they deserve a good home... Thanks to the staff too🍀🐕🦺🏡
So sadly to see old dogs, suffering, are sick, and I glad the saves
Shes Beautiful and deserves all the love in the world❤
Rocky, you're one of the best on CZcams for pets! Any pet you're involved with are extremely lucky! 🐾
I would take vince in a heart beat, my daughter has 2 GSD's and they are amazing dogs, and he just fits our family. If we can figure out how to get him to Texas he will have his forever home.
I've sure they've got volunteers who do transports.
My aunt and uncle are in KY, and they're part of transports every weekend. I'd call the shelter, if you're serious.
@@jmr9735 based on my communications with them yesterday, it looks like Vince has been adopted!!
I have four seniors and sometimes it’s hard to think of when they will leave. We have made changes for all these stray dogs since the beginning. It’s the least they deserve for loving us after being in the streets alone!! Thank you for what you do!!❤❤❤
Thank you Rocky for showing her thar she is still so loved and the compassion you show Dawn. ❤️ 😢 She deserves to live in home for her remaining days. Sleep on a soft bed and give someone a loving companion.
I feel the same about seniors. They are so special. When I started in rescue I took only senior boys. The youngest was 7, the oldest was 14. It was literally heaven. Imagine 5 senior Pugs.
It's so wonderful to see the kitties represented. And I might be biased, because I've only ever had black cats, but they are THE BEST cats. They are my absolute favorite and it always breaks my heart because they are always overlooked (just like black dogs). Lots of love to the gorgeous Harmon! ❤🐈⬛
Hopefully we can continue to feature some kitties! Thanks for your continued support :)
I adopted a black kitten 5 months ago, they are the most loveable cats. I had a black cat for 16yrs and she died she was the best cat. When I felt ready to get another cat, I wanted a black one because they are hard to adopt. He is my baby and just love him so much.
I’ve had 2 black cats (rescued) and my first was the most amazing pet and friend I’ve ever had. She was 100% in tune with me and spent every second of her day loving me.
My second is less than 2 years old and he’s super sweet and affectionate.
Black cats are amazing! I believe that they are some of the most loving cats you can have.
Dawn is beautiful! 💗💗💗
If I could get him to Oregon I would LOVE to adopt Vince. He would be perfect as long as he likes cats.
If you're serious, you should call the shelter to see if they have transport volunteers. My aunt and uncle are in KY and they're a part of moving animals every weekend.
My cat is 7 and he barely ever purrs! He plays, loves to cuddle (on his terms LOL), and is very happy. I've had him since he was 6 weeks old. It's the strangest thing that he only started purring occasionally and very quietly about 2 years ago. Every other cat we've had has purred like a champ. Great stories, thank you for sharing. Always praying for these animals.
My Kenya didn’t meow until she was about 10 years old! She passed away but was my sweet girl for 19 yrs.
Stay tuned for the plan...and check this out! hello.furbo.com/Rocky-FFG
I'm so glad you're like this.
Does Vince do good with other dogs
I'm so glad you're going back for Dawn! That girl needs your TLC SO much! I can't wait to hear details about your plan.
I really appreciate your dedication to these fur babies..your just so awesome. I'm happy to be a member of your channel. 😊
I hope Vince got my gift. I made an order through your website for a toy for him to have, just so he had something of his own. It says it was delivered on Monday. I hope he gets adopted soon!❤❤ He is beautiful, and if I lived in the USA, I would take him in a heartbeat!
