Godfrey compared the upcoming fight to the shooting incident involving Megan Thee Stallion and Tory Lanez, which Godfrey admitted is a crazy story in hip-hop news. Moving along, Godfrey spoke about the viral "entanglement" between Jada Pinkett-Smith and August Alsina, which led to Jada and Will addressing the situation on The Red Table Talk. I love that Godfrey being from a Nigerian background does his history and acknowledge black Americans history and their sacrifices in the past..
I thought he was Ghanaian...
He didn't study the history hard enough if he thinks police brutality is directed towards black people only. This dude does nothing but spread misinformation and a warped bias. I guarantee he knows nothing about real American history, as he clearly feels like black people are entitled to something for discrimination. That type of attitude is exactly what leads to hatred and desensitization. No one ever mentions the fact that American slave trade started with the native americans, nor the fact that in the first year of it, more native Americans were enslaved than Black people were ever brought to the US to be slaves from africa, over the entire course of time where slavery was a legal practice. No one ever talks about the fact that the Spaniards were already in the slave trade, African and West Indies, and that they introduced African slaves to the Americas. The Spanish occupied Florida and engaged in the molasses production through sugar cane, and it was this direct influence, the economy at the time, that caused the colonials to start enslaving. No one mentions the fact that the first ever African slave ship to arrive to America at the colonial hands was a slave trader that the colonial bparsed and stole from the spanish. No one ever talks about the fact that the first ever "slave" documented in American court was on the record as being owned by a black man, a one Anthony Johnson. The "slave" in question pressured Anothony into releasing his contract but when Anthony saw that the man went right to another "master" and worked for his house, he felt duped and took him to court and the courts ruled that debts were a lifetime affair, marking the first ever time a "slave" in American history was owned by a black mastee, as before this, it was called indentured servitude and was typically pressed upon people through outstanding debts or punishment for criminal behaviour. No one knows that because this was an judicial punishment that there was all races working these cotton and sugar cane fields. Latino, indian, white, black, they worked these fields together. No one talks about the fact that these "captured" "slaves" were primarily taken by Spaniards and were freed if they were baptised or Christian. They don't know that the modern 1% were the slave owners back in those days, nor that there were dedicated groups and organizations that would purchase these slaves just to free them, at a loss in their own resources. They don't know that these dedicated individuals to freeing slaves and indentured servants were so numerous that it was directly a large part of why the civil war happened in the first place. There's so much real history that is ignored completely just because it doesn't fit someone's objective narrative. Godfrey doesn't know shit, he's just pushing his own narraritive. We're all insecure and biased, paranoid about shit, so it must be nice to be able to blame it all on skin color. I wish I had that convenience.
