    Very nice! I make a lotion very similar. But to the water phase I replace some of the distilled water with Vanilla Bean Water and for Extracts I use Oat, Pumpkin, and a hint of Chamomile. And I keep the chocolatey scent by using unrefined - undeodorized Cocoa Butter. It feels so nice! I love Cocoa Butter in lotions!

    Loved that body oil as a teen. It was the only fragrance that I could actually use from them, along with the exclamation perfume. Scent sensitivities and allergies are a major part of the reason I have been researching making my own products for the last few months.

    For the basic understanding of lotion making how do choose your oils and determining the ratios of each? I tried to make me a simple shea and almond lotion with a light fragrance, distilled water, and preservative along with the ewax and stearic acid but it smelled like medicine. I can't seem to get the perfect balance

    • @HEKNOWSTHEPLANS
      @HEKNOWSTHEPLANS Před 4 lety +1

      I would do your recipe but need to understand the rule of thumb to make a signature bottle

    • @SunshineSoapandCandleCompany
      @SunshineSoapandCandleCompany  Před 4 lety +2

      Angela Williams hi! This takes some practice. The best way to learn is by researching oil properties and deciding which ones give you the result you want, and then start experimenting with very small amounts. Ratios of each thing also depend on what you are wanting in your lotion as well as usage rates for products.

    • @HEKNOWSTHEPLANS
      @HEKNOWSTHEPLANS Před 4 lety +1

      @@SunshineSoapandCandleCompany what's a rule of thumb 2 parts water to 1 part oils? I never know or use your recipe, tweak it with variations of oils and go from there? I may want to add 5 different oils for anti-aging but will too much oil make a difference with ewax and stearic acid?

    • @SunshineSoapandCandleCompany
      @SunshineSoapandCandleCompany  Před 4 lety +3

      Angela Williams well generally speaking lotion is mostly water. Anywhere from 60% to 80% you can use 5 oils it would just be a small combination of each. I do think you should take a look at some recipes and try them. Then you can sub the oil amounts for your oils and play around with water percentages once you get the feel for it. 😊
